Viper is almost the only Apex Predator worthy of any kind of respect or admiration since he's a professional, not a deranged war criminal. Giving him a daughter and a wife, and showing the effect his death had on them, really fleshes him out from the faceless badass he is in Titanfall 2 when Jack and BT encounter him. Immediately makes Valkyrie a highly relatable Legend too, which I appreciate. The fact that when he grabs the falling Titan he ignores her pleas, immediately punches her out of the cockpit, and then looks until he sees her chute open before trying to save himself is such a beautiful detail. Oh, and the animation is beautiful, sometimes I rewatch this for the feels and sometimes just for the visuals. Great writing too, for a simple story the three central characters are very well fleshed out.

Pilots really were something else. I've played Apex for a long time before I finally tried Titanfall 2's multiplayer. Legend does not come close to a pilot
That was one thing that was jarring playing Apex. Despite the maps being huge, you move slow as molasses compared to how high speed titanfall multiplayer was.

Really cool that they kept the naming schemes

Then hours later the dude tore apart an entire fleet with no hits. Then he got vibe checked by Saucy Jack Cooper
Viper didn't die, FYI. You knocked them out. Even when you shoot Viper out of the cockpit, they are breathing AFTER you and BT walk away. Viper is also the ONLY enemy pilot who you don't immolate or completely destroy. Can look up plenty of evidence on YT or elsewhere. Even the devs are super coy when asked about viper as opposed to literally any of the other pilots. Viper surivived.

I actually found it kind of funny when she shoots the missiles and the other pilot just casually sends two missiles in retaliation and knocks her out of the air easily, it just shows that even though she could pilot the robot she wasn't close to the skill level of an actual pilot

I like the attention to detail when viper was crash landing he shot all northstar missiles out so when he landed he wasn’t running the risk of blowing up
I think it would be only as part of the quote, like they could split "Your journey ends here legend" "the skies are mine" and "nowhere to run, nowhere to hide" into different ones.
I love the little note of Viper emptying his Northstar's missile salvoes after Kairi ejects. Using the launcher recoil to right the Titan on approach with the ground, reducing the weight and thus impact of the crash, and ensuring he wouldn't die from the resulting explosion of his payload. THAT'S what you do when your life is on the line. It really speaks to his professionalism, and I am honored that he chose my Titan out of several Militia chassis to rip the arm off of. Kinda makes me wish that Valkyrie had a gameplay interaction like that, between VTOL Jets and Missile Swarm. Maybe she could gain a slightly faster fall speed after using Missile Swarm in the air.
This gives me a whole new perspective on the Apex Predators. Viper wasn't just a kickass pilot, he was a father who wanted his kid to have a better life. He became a mercenary for the money, because he didnt want his kid to do it.
I still remember that moment that used to give me chills 'nowhere to run, nowhere to hide'. It's nice to see another part of him, even though he's way cooler in a titan lol Edit: she really didn't need to dismantle the best titan in the game tho lol

Especially considering how calming Viper was from the bit we heard of him in TF2. Even when he got shot down he stayed calm. I love the little note of Viper emptying his Northstar's missile salvoes after Kairi ejects. Using the launcher recoil to right the Titan on approach with the ground, reducing the weight and thus impact of the crash, and ensuring he wouldn't die from the resulting explosion of his payload. THAT'S what you do when your life is on the line. It really speaks to his professionalism, and I am honored that he chose my Titan out of several Militia chassis to rip the arm off of.
Kinda makes me wish that Valkyrie had a gameplay interaction like that, between VTOL Jets and Missile Swarm. Maybe she could gain a slightly faster fall speed after using Missile Swarm in the air.
This gives me a whole new perspective on the Apex Predators.
Viper wasn't just a kickass pilot, he was a father who wanted his kid to have a better life. He became a mercenary for the money, because he didnt want his kid to do it.
Viper's a great father, I have a lot more respect for the character now that I've seen why he went to fight
I almost feel bad about turning him into paste, almost.
