HOAs cannot enforce a color scheme without a color chip standard or preferably, a color meter reading with the appropriate plus or minus percentage. This is a federal requirement and if they try to enforce without it, it is unconstitutionally vague. This was established in case law in 1986. Most HOAs are run by people who have no idea what they’re doing. In my state, to be a board member or president of a HOA you must take a class and get a certificate saying you know the responsibilities of a board member. Almost nobody does this. I went to a community college that offers the class and got mine. In my state, if the board isn’t certified, they can’t fine anyone. I learned that at the class. Also learned that if a HOA has something unconstitutional in their declaration, the declaration is void and the HOA is dissolved if someone takes it to court. I also learned that amending the declaration creates a new HOA that no one can be required to join. My HOA had things in the declaration that were unconstitutional. The first time I got into a spat with the HOA, I got it dissolved. The board members at court looked like they’d been hit with a baseball bat. I then asked them if they’d ever got certified. They didn’t even know it was a requirement. Their lawyer knew it was a requirement but didn’t think it would ever come up. I specifically asked her that question. I was the only one certified to be on the board and wasn’t on it. Then the board no longer existed.

"I have no idea who reported it to the IRS."
Of course my brother. The paperwork probably blew away on a windy day, landing at the feet of a IRS agent.😊
No one saw anything, and that is what I would tell anyone who would ask.

The first question to ask your realtor about any listing is "Is there an HOA?"> If the anser is yes, run.

On the last story, it’s probably because if there’s an accident in the parking lot, it’s on the owners of the cars to repair a there own cars or try and find out with insurance companies cops will not get involved

2nd story with the mechanic: that's exactly what unions for. Peter is exploiting them. On the one hand, by paying his employees the worst possible wages, depending on the mood of the day, but then also by practising this bad habit of making employees give each other holiday days when someone urgently needs them.
I know that this is pushed because of "collegial behaviour", but at the end of the day, the employer is the one who has a duty of care. Not the employees amongst themselves and the employer gets the full reward for their efforts.
If OP and the other mechanics went on strike, they wouldn't earn anything, but neither would Peter - and since Karen has a gambling addiction problem, he'd be in the shit a lot quicker than the mechanics. Especially as what OP said at the beginning is true: they can always find a job, even if it might not be in this town. It would have been even better to have a union that uses the membership fees to build up a financial fund to pay the members' expenses during the strikes so that they don't run the risk of ending up on the street.
This kind of thing is quite normal in Europe, while workers in America prefer to be exploited. Unbelievable for me as a German. O.o

The last story was the most boring, long and TOTALLY POINTLESS STORY. .
You may as well have described how you made oatmeal for breakfast and it would have been more interesting. .
