We are still so unfair to people with textured hair, America needs more visibility and education on these issues. We also need to STOP with the narrative that textured hair is unprofessional. Thank you for this video
I stopped using relaxers on my “course” hair back in 1996. My hair naturally locked into the common term, dreadlocks. Yet, in this natural state, I have more Black people (or people of color) telling me how “nice” my hair looks, in secret, whilst publicly telling me how bad my hair looks. Why? Because it is natural and not fake threads woven into my hair like the socially constructed “nice” way of wearing or styling “course” hair. So, I am used to the “your hair needs to be done” comments my fellow course hair community insists on telling me, but I welcome their secretive comments about how nice my hair is. The only thing that saddens me is when course hair people tell me, “I wish my hair could look like that.” Why can’t it? Because course hair folks are subjected to the lasting biases that convince them that their natural hair is NOT acceptable nor “nice” in the course hair community, especially.😢
I appreciate the girl in the video for embracing her natural hair ❤. I see she’s learning how to care for her hair with nurturing treatments. Now she should practice gentle techniques when detangling and styling. As Afro hair gets dry and tangle easily during different phases, so it should be treated gently during these times. Finger detangling and oils can help.
Definitely. Only comb hair when wet. Use a wide wide tooth comb. Brush is not necessary. Etc. if you are getting a bunch of hair combed out you are doing something wrong.
Omg that last one it's like a brillo pad or fur nearer to the animal kingdom, they're the only race that have that dry 4c kinky nappy hair to the rest of the world ( hence animal kingdom 😂)
Crazy that you bring up “animal kingdom “ cause white ppl have similar hair to dogs , cats and especially Horses; those three critters happens to be animals as well 😉 so guess white ppl are also close to the animal kingdom lol
Black textured hair is sooo beautiful, I love seeing more and more black women embracing their natural curls.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gorgeous and textured sound design, score, and cinematography. Thanks New Yorker! Yes, we want more of these kinds of films!
Very sweet and intimate video.
You have to love yourself -- your body, your skin, your hair. If you don't, you will never be happy.

You do you ❤ we should all do us ❤️ and not comment on anyone else doing them ❤️
First girl needs to learn how to brush/comb her hair properly
