Man I was one of the originals, but I think this channel is going a direction I am not super interested in. All the best of luck in your efforts to be a film correspondent. It’s just not something that I care much about and I am pairing down my subscriptions. Take care
This is the exact same direction my channel has always been going down. Some of my earliest videos were interview pieces like this, and if you were an “original” you’d know that. I’ve always had a wide array of different content, from interviews, to video editorials, to news pieces. Not every single video is going to be for every single viewer - and that’s ok. As a supporter - you have to understand that as creators, we need to be able to produce a different selection of content. It’s difficult, frustrating, and anti-creative to be hampered or “type-cast” into a particular style of content. I can’t always be “the cartoon guy” and never have been. Just because I put up a couple of interviews every now and then doesn’t mean the other content stops. I’m constantly working on multiple videos at any one time.
But if that’s frustrating to you, and you need to unsubscribe because 1/5 videos doesn’t interest you, that’s totally fine. All the best and Cya later!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder I mean it wasn’t just the cartoon stuff I cared about. I liked the more editorial content about the film industry. The reviews. Not just cartoon reviews. The physical media showcases. Even the podcast was interesting. When you did do interviews, they were still quite different than this format. Don’t paint me with the brush of those people that literally only want you to do cartoon stuff because I never even said that. I am just not interested in this more produced film corespondent direction.
I don’t know why you sent me such a lengthy comment. I literally said that I hope you have good luck and do well. I didn’t ask you to change directions. I just wanted to say goodbye, because the channel was something of an inspiration for me
I do appreciate that. I sent a lengthy comment because I wanted to explain exactly why I do this kind of content... which doesn't really feel any different to me than anything I've done in the past - other than the fact that I'm now able to get access to much larger talent and film junkets.
Reviews don't perform well for me, and the podcast didn't either, unfortunatley. While some physical media reviews do okay, the spotlights saw dwindling viewership with a change in audience direction. I have continued to do physical media showcases on my second channel 'Dave Lee Down Under Extra' for the last 2-3 years. As this is my full-time job, and how I earn my living - I have to make business decisions relating to what content I put out.
As stated previously, I still produce editorial content. I still produce 30-40 minute history videos near-monthly. And regularly put out news and preview videos. On the cartoon side I'm currently prepping (what I hope to be) a long-running series on the entire history of Animation year-by-year.
I don't want to neglect audience-members. But I also have to be able to provide content to my different viewers, while also pushing and growing personally.

Dang, I feel bad. I didn’t mean to make you upset. You deserve more respect than I have given to you. I’ll stick with you after all. My apologies. I was just going through a bunch of channels to get rid of and I wanted to send something a bit more personal, but I should’ve worded it better in the first place. You did inspire me to do some pretty fun things a few years back.
