- Hey guys! This whole corona crisis has got me feeling a little down, so I decided to sort out my old flying footage and have some fun editing it!
In December 2019, I went on a flying adventure with 3 Dutch friends and visited a few of my favorite places in South Africa.
These are the memories I’ll cherish forever.

My first solo was in a 150 aerobat after just 7 hours.
Lekker man, on my bucket list - but not cheap to rent airplanes, and the weather can turn kak in a heartbeat. SA storms / winds can be rather exciting! :)
Ah yes, chased by those storms enough times to know its no joke!

Love what you're doing with the channel! I always wanted to be a pilot but never had the focus and drive to pursue it. I've often wondered if 32 is too old to try, but I don't know if I could spend the years it would take to do it professionally or the money involved. You're a huge aspiration to anyone who wants to fly and your upbeat personality and positive attitude are a staple for young aspiring pilots in today's world. You keep it up and don't change! :)
I've done all my PPL on a Cessna 150 Aerobat with 130 hp.
A lot of fun!

I ferried a C210 from Arkansas to Wonderboom RSA in 1990. Great times... Great to see a thriving General Aviation community in RSA
I did my PPL at aero sport years ago , and flew ZS-SCE a few times.
Both people in the 150 were slim, yet it still looked like a tight fit inside the cockpit. It seems that the seats must be offset with the one actually flying seated a bit forward compared to the passenger, as you can see the pilot's shoulder past the shoulder of the one not flying. Serious question, how comfortable would it be in a 150, a 172, or any other trainer for that matter, if say a CFI and student were both 6'2 and 250lbs (113 kilos)?
I did all my PPL training in a C-150. My instructor and I are both over six feet. It was tight. Although, I do love flying it.

Hi. At 6:44 you take off again but you have changed your head set from the Bose A20 to normal pair of Bose noice canceling headphones with a microphone that appears to have been attached to the side, iv been thinking for a while if this was possible and I see you have done it. Would you mind sharing how you did this???.... thanks and keep up the good videos. makes ATPL studying a lot easier with motivational videos like this to watch.

Absolutely awesome... you just have to love South Africa, it tries very hard under the circumstances.
Hkw can you afford to pay for all these rentals and traveling😭😭😭 I feel like when I get my ppl I'm gonna have a hard time saving money until I get my cpl

To the best of my knowledge, a 150 with aerobatic clearance will have a checkerboard on the tail.

I would of loved to of seen a picture of the 170 flying above the 150. And had some footage through the overhead Windows of the 150 !

I was in South Africa last fall, rather brutal getting there from the West Coast of the US (Seattle) but well worth it. Next time I go back i'd like to do some flying there.

Sometimes it's very difficult to understand!! (but it's also more distorted bc of the audio recording quality) Those ATC guys have good ears

Depending on what you're looking for, Foreflight is one of the "must have" apps for pilots.
I use SkyDemon, like a lot of European pilots 😉
Hi Jason, we were using SkyDemon: it works really well in Europe and in South Africa. I've also heard alot of good things about Foreflight, but haven't used it yet ☺️

Thanks, and yes I will put more inflight audio next vids!! Unfortunately the quality of the recording wasn't great, so could only use a few fragments..

Bambi: Feeling down is okay indeed. We all have. I've been in Law Enforcement for over 25 years. The things I've seen and experienced were, at times, on polar opposites of the emotional spectrum. Even so I've never lost my enthusiasm for my "job." We all serve each other in some way big or small. We all count. I can see that you TRULY love your life-"job." Never become jaded regardless of the downs no matter their source. The sun sets for a reason...its a reset button for our soul as tomorrow is another day. Your positive attitude will bode you well as you grow, personally and professionally. Keep smiling. keep flying, be healthy always.

The montages are awesome, it looks like you spent a lot of time getting those shots (especially with the drone footage). Great quality.
You may want to make your thumbnails a bit more "click bait(ey)" though. Your older audience knows the title/thumbnail is just for show (and will watch for the content). But the younger demographic can't keep their hands off clicking "click bait" (take for example my kids, lol). Maybe put the title "Can we make it to ____ in our 150 with only 26 gallons of fuel!?!" (Add a stupid confused face to the current thumbnail). I know it sounds dumb. But who knows maybe they will stay and watch, and maybe it will inspire a younger generation to fly?
Keep up the great content, keep posting even if the channel doesn't get huge overnight. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks.

hey, i dont know what gliding clubs cost at you're place but that may just be the cheapest route to get airborne, here in the netherlands its about 70 euro's in the month so i quit smoking to do that instead of the cost of smoking! :D so it basicly just costed me what smoking did :D haha you dont need you're own planes nothing just a fixed membership a month and you can fly club gliders and lessons and everythings included by most here atleast!
i'd suggest to look into it! :D

edit: well and first joining you need to get like insurance and stuff but after that it's basicly fixed rate (it was like 170 for one year here (insurance) and medical is like 90 euros BUT that lasts for 5 years so its like 1 euro something a month split it over the 12 months for the insurance its like 14 euro something so it calculates to about 85 euro's a month all in
