    That is a beautiful bike. That polished finish is the envy of my childhood. I could only afford the painted dyno vfr but the cool kids had polished GT frames. Also like the shirt. My wife just got me the same one for father's day. Stem looks a bit too tall.

    Valve going sideways is easily fixable! You just 'pet' the tire in the desirable direction before inflating (given the tire already sits on the rim properly of course).
    And thanks for the most enlightening episode in history dude!
    ps: you can rub a soap bar on the stubborn place to sit the tire. Also, many gas stations offer free air compressors (instead of soap. there might be some trickery with valve compatibility)

    About inner tubes. Try schwalbe aerothan. Ive been using them for about 7 months so far. They are 80g instead of standard tube 200-250g. You can not make snake punch with them. And funny moment. It can be used with tyre sealant for protection from small punches. But be careful with schrader rim holes and presta valves. Rim can make a punch at the bottom of a valve

    Hello Ali, amazing frame, it's a shame the chain rubs so much, Kenny complained about it a lot when he was riding it. However, please don't ride that stem, Dominique never bothered recalling them but they were always failing at the ring area, and cracked where the bolts are tightened even when using the right torque. Koxx even provided free spare rings to people who had broken them. It's a shame as the original prototype which was teased at Koxx Days in La Tour de Scay wasn't exactly made that way. Also mind the titanium axles of the Echo pedals, loads of lightweight riders have broken them. I have a question though: isnt the paint stripper bad for the caliper's seals ? Great video, keep it up!

    • @peglor
      @peglor 7 місяців тому

      I've broken the bodies of the Echo pedals too. They're definitely not suitable for riders over 80 kg to use for any length of time, but then I've also snapped the axle on a Hope pedal - my own fault after I 'retired' it to my trials bike for a couple of years, after at least 15 000 km of hard XC/Marathon use. I was doing a standing wheelie up a ramp at the time and when it let go, the completely blunt stump of the pedal axle ripped the skin at the side of my knee open 😞. Very little pain but it took a few hours to stop bleeding.

    • @canardweb
      @canardweb 7 місяців тому

      @@peglor it's not the body that easily breaks but the Ti axle.

    • @peglor
      @peglor 7 місяців тому

      @@canardweb I've broken the steel axle on an Echo platform pedal, but both me a a friend of mine have broken the bodies on the Echo cage pedals. I wouldn't go near Ti axles on anything because they're weaker than the steel ones I'm already breaking. It's always metal fatigue incidentally, not straight overloading.

    Come on, Ali, just give in! don't regrind the rims, just smack some tar on there! :) And as for the usage of front freewheels, it's mainly cost, I would have to say. It's way cheaper to manufacture this many engagement points in a bigger housing, compared to the small space offered by a rear hub.

    • @Ali_Clarkson
      @Ali_Clarkson  7 місяців тому +1

      But I might want to ride it in the wet 😂
      I’m going to disagree with the ease of adding more engagement points though, freewheels are actually quite constraining…the outer diameter is fixed by the teeth count, the inner diameter is fixed by the thread/spline size and the width is limited by the frame/bb width.
      Hubs are usually smaller just because they have weight/manufacture concerns plus most MTBers don’t worry too much about the strength of engagements but there’s nothing really to stop a hub manufacturer from putting an absolutely huge ratchet and pawl system in

    Strip club :))) Awesome build! I have a couple of recommendations/questions based on this particular build. What's the point of tapered forks? I mean in reality are there any problems with standard/old forks? Also about fork/frame material. I recently had the oppurtinity to buy a Tange Ultra Light fork it's about 20 grams heavier then the aluminum Trialtech you used int his video. I don't really understand why cromo forks and frames are out of te game they weight almost exactly like aluminum, but they are more rigid and durable. I know that you're not a fan (to put it mildly:D) of Magura rim brakes, but I think they have many advantages against disc brakes. My question is what do you think is the best pads for smooth rims? Without using tar? I'm around 60-65 kgs and I think the stopping power of Magura breaks are in conection with the rider's weight. So for some poeple they're ideal for some people they lack the stoping power. And the last one, once it would be very interseting and educating to see a video when you explain which rear hubs (for rim and disc brakes) are suitable for trials and why.

  • @indrekpart277

    Awsome bike. Nois pure trials video incoming? Btw modern mtb tyres and trials specific rims tend to not seat. I could not get my conty trailkings seat at all. 1/4 tyre would sit 10mm deep from the rim bead. Trialtyres only since then.
