Just a heads up on Card Kingdom orders. It's been several months since they've had fast turn around on shipping. Orders usually sit in processing for 4 - 6 days now before they go out. Not a knock on them, pandemic has slowed everything down. You just might want to stop telling people the shipping is so fast when it isn't anymore. **edit** I'm not trying to talk bad about CK. I mean they've had a little pop up on their website for good long time now saying that covid has affected their shipping time. They've been totally transparent about that. CK is still amazing about card quality and making sure your order is correct and packaged well/safely. I've placed so many TCGplayer orders for NM cards but what I get is cards with big old scratches or bends in them, or the cards are shipped really poorly or the cards sent are just plain wrong. CK doesn't do that kinda stuff. They might be a tad more expensive than TCG but what you're paying for is great CS and piece of mind. I also get that Josh is doing a commercial but he's giving out false info. You can absolutely talk up all the other great points about CK and even mention that they have fast shipping, but with the caveat that because of pandemic it might take a little while longer than normal for processing. **
It's getting better hopefully cardkingdom can get to a pace(as they are experimenting with ideas to prepare orders faster) to where they are back at their fast shipping again.
I only use TCGplayer being that it offers the best prices from multiple shops to find the best price anyway.. they have been roughly 3-4 days in time. So that’s cool for me especially if I’m saving money.

With Aria of flame, remember that it's double triggers and not doubled triggers. So if you cast it, then git probe, you get the 1 trigger AND the 2 trigger.
Aria of Flame with Veyran is even crazier than you think: The first spell triggers the *whole* thing twice, so add a counter, deal 1 damage, then add another counter and deal 2 damage, so 3 total damage from 1 spell. Your next spell adds a third and then a fourth counter, for 7 damage total. This could get funny REAL quick!
Think of a game knights episode with Kyle Hill, Craig, Prof and Cash Marsh. That would need to be 2 episodes. One with the magic game and the other with just them cracking jokes
Shouldn't it be even less (30), because each one triggers one less time than the one before it? So, the original triggers 3 times, the first copy that enters the battlefield triggers twice for the two copies after it, the next one only triggers once and the final one doesn't trigger at all? Or do all copies literally enter at the same time and all trigger each other equally at that moment? I'm really not sure here, tbh.
Gelectrode is old enough that the text "Deal damage to target creature or player" means any target in the oracle text in Dominaria they changed the Planeswalker redirection rule there was a massive oracle text change in many card but a good way to remember this that any card that can deal damage to target players and was printed before Dominaria can also hit planeswalkers BUT will not say that they can, any card since dominaria will list planeswalkers if they can be targeted or say "any target"
One of my friends in my playgroup gifted me his Zaffai - Prismari Performance Deck because i love it so much. First game i played with it, I won with a X=36 "Epic Experiment". xD
On Zafai: if opponents like low-toughness creatures, pyrokenesis is a decent pitch card. You could also play Jhoira of the Gitu as a helper in the 99 to suspend high cost stuff so it casts free later.
At 1:16, the card covered was Felisa, Fang of Silverquill. It says if it had counters on it, create that many inkling tokens. It doesn't have to be just +1/+1 counters. It can be any type of counter like flying, trample, first strike, or any others.
Something interesting about Black Sun's Zenith with Felisa is the way +1+1 counters and -1-1 counters work with state-based effects. For example, if you have a 10/10 Stonecoil Serpent (or any creature with counters on it) and you cast Black Sun's Zenith for 10, you would make 20 black inklings as there is no time for the two counters to cancel out.
@@TH3L3M0N Yeah! It's a super weird interaction, check out this ruling: 704.8. 1:00:05 If you make copies of Humble Defector w/ Ryona's ability, tap them to draw and give them to an opponent. They won't get exiled at the end of turn. The delay trigger is not attached to the token but is trigger by Ryona. So when the trigger happens you won't be in control of the tokens and will not be able to exile them. It could get fun and messy (more and more tokens will exist every turns, and people are gonna draw lot of cards); but it doesn't work as you described it.
Gelectrode is "any target." Before they started the any target wording, you would say "deal 2 damage to you, bur redirect it to Tibalt," but that was counterintuitive so they changed it.
Since covid, CK has been taking 3-5 days to get your order out the door. Still love them and pick them over the rest of the markets but just a heads up
Don't forget about Throne of the God-Pharoah in Felisa. Before your end step with a sac outlet, sac all your creatures and make 40+ tapped inklings - win the game :)
A bit late, but there's something else about Zaffai, Thunder Conductor and Deekah, Fractal Theorist worth mentioning. Unlike similar commanders like Talrand, these commanders also make tokens when you copy an instant or sorcery spell. So they work well with spells that copy themselves like Echo Storm, Temporal Fissure and Mind's Desire (even if you've only cast like one or two spells previously, that's fine when you're making a 5/5 or 6/6 for each of those spells).
Just looked it up, Gelectrode can hit any target, so you're good to go if you wanna hit faces and play it in Veyran (or any spell slinger deck for that matter).
My friend played the Prismari deck (with Zaffai as commander) the last time my group played together. Another friend played *Eye of the Storm* right before his turn, because he was about to go off. Then my Prismari friend used that Eye of the Storm to win the game. I think Eye of the Storm could be a great card to actually have in the Prismari deck to pull off some crazy combos. Just don't let your opponents play out once you use it...
Zaffai can go for the 10 CMC cards with Zada, Hedron Grinder. A single 10 CMC spell that targets Zada will make you deal 30 damage with Zaffai out, since you can make Zaffai creature the 4/4 before Zada's trigger copies the spell. This means that if you cast a 5 CMC+ spell that targets Zada beforehand, you'll have 5 creatures (Zaffai, Zada, the token made before Zada triggers, the 2 tokens after Zada triggers) which will give you 6 triggers for Zaffai. This also works with Moonveil Dragon.
Zaffai X Spells is the most fun deck I have built in a long time. With the amount of ways to copy spells in the deck it's not unreasonable. I've had games where I cast or copy 5 or 6 10 cmc spells in a turn.
On the topic of Miracles for Zaffai, Bonfire of the Damned will be a CMC 11(5+5+R) spell with only 6 (5+R) mana spent on the Miracle cost. Fun interaction for Vial Smasher too. For those new to it, the gatherer states. "Bonfire of the Damned’s mana value is based on its mana cost of XXR, even if you’re casting it for its miracle cost. For example, if you cast Bonfire of the Damned for its miracle cost and choose 4 for X, its mana value is 9." (4+4+R)

And I love Izzet and spellslinging. Just, Zaffai.
Threaten effects are very good with Rionya. They raise your storm count and you get to make tokens of creatures your opponents may have. Like a Mulldrifter or something. Or you steal their Ulamog, copy it, sac the original because legend rule and attack. Mono red dealing with indestructible right there.
Ruxa (vannilla bear commander) would also like Titania's Song and Nullhide Ferrox. Notably you can also do things like put things like DOUBLE STRIKE COUNTERS or other counters on creatures, since that doesn't count as an ability on the creature. But you're right. its hard to build around that commander
34:33 with Veyran and Aria of Flame, it would actual be 3 damage for the first spell. Cast brainstorm, Aria would get the first counter and deal one damage, Veyran will trigger, then Aria will get it's second counter dealing another 2 damage. So after the math it would only take 2 spells to deal a total of 10 damage.
One of the best cards in Veyran from my playtesting is niblis of frost. It has prowess which is good with her anyways, but it taps stuff down when you cast instants and sorceries which can let it, but more importantly veyran through for her big hit
34:34 Actually, I think it's more: Git Probe, put 1 counter deals 1 damage, then put the second counter, deals 2 damage -> total 3 damage just for Git Probe... if you follow that with Brainstorm, it's 3 + 4 damage = 7 damage; that can even out the life with the first opponent :D You just need 4 spells to take the 30 life gain away from your opponents, it's quite crazy good.
So Aria of Flames patter is cast 1 spell trigger 1 damage, then trigger 2 damage. Next spell trigger 3 damage, then 4, so for 2 spells you've done 10 damage. Wow, that's amazing!
As someone who just built an esix deck, I agree on the 'no cards that make a token on your upkeep', but there is one card from the precon I think you should still consider: Paradox zone. If it gets ignored, or they don't draw their answers, it can become VERY dangerous because if it's your only token that turn... It may not be a large amount of tokens, but it becomes huge. Create a token copy of a ruric thar that's a 70/70 with 64 growth counters on it... Or create a 43/43 blightsteel colossus... It gets insane.
Josh's math was a touch off with aria of flame in veyran, one cast with the doubling is 3 damage not 2, if it triggers twice you add one do a damage then add 1 and do 2 damage for 3 total. Second spell would do 7 total on its own, third is 11 total and so on
Include Mission Briefing and Tale's End in Octavia so you are able to counter the Bojuka bog ability and if they recur it somehow you can do it again. Stifle effects are your best friend
With Aria of Flame it takes 8 cards normally to negate the life gain to 3 opponents. Spells 1, 2, 3, and 4 will take 10 life off of opponent 1. Spells 5 and 6 will take 11 life off of opponent 2. And spells 7 and 8 will take 15 life off of opponent 3. With Veyran, spell 1 will deal 3 damage total, spell 2 will deal 7 damage total, spell 3 will deal 11 damage total, spell 4 will deal 15 damage total. It's a lot more damage than you give it credit, when paired with Veyran.
Does Spelltwine trigger Zaffai’s magecraft ability 5 times? One time for itself when you cast it, two times when you copy the exiled instants or sorceries and two other times when you cast those copy. If you are able to target two 5 cmc or more spell, it means 5 4/4 on the battlefield! That’s crazy strong for 6 mana!
At 58:00 when they talk about terror of the peaks I believe the original will deal 15 and the three tokens will deal 10 each because they dont see themselves
Can someone explain what Josh was saying about infinite copies of Fury Storm please? From my understanding, copying it infinite times doesn’t change the number of copies of other spells
Since Fury Storm lets you copy any spell, if you cast it after having cast your commander at least once, the copy it makes can target the original and when the copy resolves it will make a copy of Fury Storm, which can then target the original and make another copy, which will copy the original creating another copy, and so on. However, unless there's another spell on the stack to target and copy or a way of dealing damage on copy, this results in a draw as the copies have to target something on the stack before them.
With all those high cost spells, a card that should be considered is Omnispell Adept from Guilds of Ravnica. Tap and pay 2 and a blue to cast an instant or sorcery at instant speed.
To be totally fair, it feels like a very cheap way to win because it's so easy to win with it. My first few games playing the deck, I actually ended up winning because of biovisionary, getting enough out in a pinch.
I still don't understand why they are so worried about the single token thing. I made a Koma clone deck that's goal is to clone Adrix and Nev or Doubling Season then clone Koma's. Awakening Zone and From Beyond work quite well for ramp, 3 Adrix and Nev make 8 spawns that you can use for Mana. Also Orvar capsizing lands sounds pretty good too lol
I feel that the episodes would have been better split between mono colored and dual colored. With the current set up, this episode has 12 commanders to talk about and the next only has 8. By splitting by mono/dual both episodes would have 10. Regardless, great episode, I look forward to the next one in a few days.
So I've built a Ruxa deck and I have to say it's so fun. Even if yiuu just play the grizzly bears of the world they will work so well with garruks pack leader. I put +1+1 counters on my dudes and have cards which care about high power
Out of these twelve I've thought about building Veyran but only because I cannot for the life of me settle on a cantrips commander. Realistically I just made a 25 or so card overhaul to Osgir and scratch built Dina so I should take a break.
Veyran is a fun commander, but she goes even better as one of the 98 in a Krark and Sakashima deck, doubling coin flips, amongst other things, just spirals out of control almost immediately and it’s a blast
Veyran is pretty nice in any spell slinger type commander with triggers. Mizzix of the Izmagnus; Niv-Mizzet, Parun; Kalamax, the Stormsire and of course Zaffai himself are some other good examples.
You messed up your Terror of the Peaks math - the 3 tokens would deal 10 each, not 15, because each would see 2 OTHER creatures ETB. That’s still 45 damage, but not 60.
Opponents can also draw 2 cards off Breena. A - Breena Player B - 20 life C - 27 life D - 40 life If B attacks both C and D, B will draw 2 because because C and D both have more life than B, who is also one of A’s opponents.
From Beyond is fine in Esix, as long as you have a good Eldrazi target for its sacrifice search. That being said I think you really need to get at least 3 tokens out of it before you search with it, or its a pretty expensive tutor.
1:38:17 So fractal bloom makes copies of the creatures and the creatures who generate the tokens summon the tokens as well? Or is it that the tokens that were normally summoned will be turning to the creature instead?
Veyran and Aria of Flame is both extremely potent and on theme. But the counters hit successively, so each time it does damage it is X and then X+1. That gets out of hand really fast.
I just realized, Zaffai has a typo. I checked the deck I bought and the typo is even on the printed artwork! two questions. Will reprints make the misprint more valuable? and can this typo affect a game ruling, since the name on the ability does not match the name of the card? let’s say, one may claim that “Zaffai, Thunder Collector” is NOT a card in play, therefore it cannot deal those 10 damage.
I didn't build my Rionya Fire Dancer deck to take advantage of my creatures, I built it to use my opponents'. Its definitely harder to copy your own creatures because you want to save that mana. I strongly suggest building Rionya, as a threaten tribal deck where you use instants and sorceries to steal opponents creatures for the turn and copy them. need mana, steal a springbloom druid. wanna deal damage, steal the biggest creature on the board instead. if every turn you're doing what your opponents did but way better, you'll do pretty well. Anytime you steal a creature with Rionya out thats 2 copies minimum.
Zaffai with kalamax, throw out a 5, gets copied, scry 1, make 2 4/4s then scry again. on top of whatever the two copies of a 5 CMC spell does. Feels good
Ok can we talk about how Deekah is an auto include into Octavia? You make a bunch of tokens, and since they are 0/0 with counters making them 8/8 keeps those counters so they're even bigger! And you can make things unblockable!
I’m not sure how I feel about Eclipse. I’ve heard absolutely amazing things but I’ve used all the sleeves widely available including eclipse and nothing seems to be on par with dragonshield in durability. Have eclipse changed much since launch? I found they stopped shuffling nicely after a few months whereas dragon shields last agesssss and don’t really feel any worse
the only thing I've found similar to dragon shields is the katanas. They feel very similar but are a little thinner and slide around alot at first (some people prefer this since its SUPER easy to shuffle). They are, however, a little more expensive
Card kingdom doesn’t ship that fast at all. All my orders always take 4-6 days before they even make the shipping label. Then sometimes they don’t get around to shipping things out a day or two after the label is made. -.- it’s been taking a while
I think the black sun zenith gets crazier with Felisa too, all counters are placed at once and if the creature had +1 counters already i think they are included but could be wrong due to when the plus and minus cancel each other
As someone who bought the Breena precon (which i love): I think every player, no matter what level of player, should get a precon they enjoy playing and keep it unaltered. I have friends that used to play magic and recently got them into commander through games where we play precons with no additions and it has been so much fun. It is also way more inviting to new players. I hope to get some precon-only games in when i can get back to my LGS, especially if it means new players will feel more comfortable learning the format without being dominated by higher level decks.
I know we have to have mass set so we don't keep getting our expectations higher and higher and higher but I am super happy with Ruxa. They is the best bear fight me!😁

Cast brainstorm, Aria would get the first counter and deal one damage, Veyran will trigger, then Aria will get it's second counter dealing another 2 damage. So after the math it would only take 2 spells to deal a total of 10 damage.
Risen reef is also quite good with Master of Waves.
One of the best cards in Veyran from my playtesting is niblis of frost. It has prowess which is good with her anyways, but it taps stuff down when you cast instants and sorceries which can let it, but more importantly veyran through for her big hit
I'm proud of you guys for dropping the predatory loan commercial
Is that confirmed or just missing this episode?
34:34 Actually, I think it's more: Git Probe, put 1 counter deals 1 damage, then put the second counter, deals 2 damage -> total 3 damage just for Git Probe...
if you follow that with Brainstorm, it's 3 + 4 damage = 7 damage; that can even out the life with the first opponent :D
You just need 4 spells to take the 30 life gain away from your opponents, it's quite crazy good.
Gotta give Post Malone an RK Post themed deck headed by Sakashima the ImPOSTor.
I'm gonna need you to chill, this is too much lolololol
I don't think you need to "give" him anything. He has unlimited budget.
You guys made me play magic thank you so much
With Aria of Flame it takes 8 cards normally to negate the life gain to 3 opponents.
That’s crazy strong for 6 mana!
still really want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt on a Game Knights
Agreed!
JGL, Wil Wheaton, Christian Navarro (Tony from 13 Reasons Why) all play magic and I hope they make it onto Game Knights some day.
Tap and pay 2 and a blue to cast an instant or sorcery at instant speed.
still no biovisionary mention for the Esix deck
The "fairest" use of Biovisionary is in Verazol.
Blighted agent in Octavia sounds hilarious.
1:46:27 Deekah can't give unblockable to a creature (token) holding a sword with protection from Blue (like Truth and Justice you show)
I feel that the episodes would have been better split between mono colored and dual colored.
I imagine bring Sakashima in as a copy of Krark for more coin flips?
@@guyinthecorner0 you could even have Sakashima copy Veyran if you want
@@charliebutler4864 True, similar effect but you get a beefcake while you're at it if you play enough
Veyran is pretty nice in any spell slinger type commander with triggers. Mizzix of the Izmagnus; Niv-Mizzet, Parun; Kalamax, the Stormsire and of course Zaffai himself are some other good examples.
Card Kingdom took 6 days to ship my last order.
Even tho as you checkout, it says shipped within 72 hours.
Order from SCG instead.
You messed up your Terror of the Peaks math - the 3 tokens would deal 10 each, not 15, because each would see 2 OTHER creatures ETB. That’s still 45 damage, but not 60.
Opponents can also draw 2 cards off Breena. A - Breena Player
B - 20 life
C - 27 life
D - 40 life
If B attacks both C and D, B will draw 2 because because C and D both have more life than B, who is also one of A’s opponents.
I really like the Simic colour commander deck, but I like Witherbloom more because of the flavour.
Veyran and Aria of Flame is both extremely potent and on theme. But the counters hit successively, so each time it does damage it is X and then X+1. That gets out of hand really fast.
Damn, both Rionya and Octavia look super fun to play!
Anyone else imagining a buff Breena grabbing a player by the head and saying “It’s been several turns... NOW DIE.”
Well I am NOW
I didn't build my Rionya Fire Dancer deck to take advantage of my creatures, I built it to use my opponents'.
For zaffi you forgot that since she does the damage if you give her infect you one shot, and in her colors there’s 2 ways to do it.
But do you want to one shot a random player? Seems kind of unfun to me isn’t it?
I love Breena, I think it’s being slept on, great value card in a deck
Zaffai with kalamax, throw out a 5, gets copied, scry 1, make 2 4/4s then scry again. on top of whatever the two copies of a 5 CMC spell does. Feels good
Can’t wait till you POST the next game knights vid 😉
34:35 Aria of flame would deal 3 damage with Veyran after the first spell I believe.
I really want to make that Octavia deck now!
How could you forget Karlov for Breena, or run Breena in Karlov, Karlov loves +1/+1 counters
There are so many combos they can't keep track and mention all of them
5:07 first card
1:15:35 skip ad
Ok can we talk about how Deekah is an auto include into Octavia? You make a bunch of tokens, and since they are 0/0 with counters making them 8/8 keeps those counters so they're even bigger! And you can make things unblockable!
I wonder what deck Malone will play.
Probably a black green deck 😎
I'm slotting some cards in this Prismari Precon into my Riku of Two Reflections "copy cat" deck.
-.- it’s been taking a while
I think the black sun zenith gets crazier with Felisa too, all counters are placed at once and if the creature had +1 counters already i think they are included but could be wrong due to when the plus and minus cancel each other
Looking at the rulings for Hangarback Walker I believe you are correct.
Heroic Intervention would be for defense in this case I believe.
Everyone called me crazy for saying Breena was insane, now im laughing all the way to the bank. XD
how does ward work with cards like cyclonic rift?
does it mean you have to pay the ward spell on each of those permanents with ward??
the decks I wanna build is Veyran but I wanna build it around Kiln fiend effects and fling.
Deekah is actually another Talrand counterspell commander, so it actually has a defined home already
Oh, they covered that
As someone who bought the Breena precon (which i love): I think every player, no matter what level of player, should get a precon they enjoy playing and keep it unaltered.
Definitely considering a Cascade Zaffai deck...
Imma let you finish talking about Rionya but Richard from MTGGoldfish had the best Rionya deck of all time.
I know we have to have mass set so we don't keep getting our expectations higher and higher and higher but I am super happy with Ruxa. They is the best bear fight me!😁
I use Apex of Power in my Zaffai and its hilarious.. esp if you copy it and play something like seething song after it
it gets nuts.
