idk why but when I stop looking at this comment I think pueris is blue baby, anyone else?
I think what they were going for with the music in the Cathedral pathway is around the theme of 'emptiness', where Isaac slowly vanishes from existence as he goes through the Cathedral and the Chest, and this is the most apparent when you finally get to the ??? fight, where the instruments have gotten a lot less intricate and still has that climatic feel of encountering a powerful being with similar powers to yours.
This is just isaac's imagination while he is suffocating in the chest
Isaac believes himself to be evil, so he decides to kill himself. The lyrics are saying "Demon Child" while Isaac suffocates in the chest... Accussing him, blaming him, hating him, as he does to himself. This is Isaac's dramatic final moments.

This is my absolute favorite song from any Binding of Isaac game.
The song's lyrics add on to the fight and the game's overall theme as a whole, the song itself is slow, but still rather intense, Isaac doesn't want to really make this as epic as possible, just lay himself to rest. The overall song sounds incredibly epic, even though some people don't like the lyrics or the "WOOOOOHOOOOO" part, but that's their opinions, and I can accept and respect it.
The "WOOOOHOOOOOHOOOOO" is actualy my favorite thing about the music :T

I could never truly appreciate sheer beauty of this track till just recently when replaying Afterbirth. Where I redid many things, but not limited to the two runs where the Blue Baby fight, was truly a fight. And not just an absolute melt like it had almost always been for me. One run was on the Brains! challenge, which was probably the most intense Blue Baby fight, this track is so powerful, it legitimately gave me the chills, even on the last Bob's Brains shots, I was shaking, I didn't even have a lot of health left at that point. The other time was the fight as the Keeper, I had somehow made it all the way to the Chest with a relatively weak run and this fight was intense, of course not compared to the Mega Satan one, which aside from beating Hush as Keeper on a mediocre run, was the second most intense thing I did as the Keeper.
I really wish the blue baby fight was in a large room. Mom, It Lives, all the "predetermined" bosses are all in normal sized rooms, when it just feels to me that they could have done so much more with the fight with more room to work with. Imagine the blue baby crying in the center of the room, as he begins throwing shots around, not caring at all about whether or not you can approach him or not. Phase 2, as it gets more hectic, as flies begin spawning in, and the shots begin tracking you down, as you desperately avoid the maelstrom.
And phase 3, as he decides it's time to stop fucking about, and chases your ass down. No stomping bullshit like with mom/satan, no "i'm going to wait until you kill things" with it lives, no "get to the corners" like with isaac, just you and one pissed off blue baby rocking out to one hell of a final boss music.
Man.
That sounds like a really cool idea for a boss fight in Binding of Isaac - Afterbirth, which is actually coming out in a few weeks. They DID SAY that there would be a new final level besides The Chest and The Dark Room, with a new ending and final boss. You never know
In afterbirth there is "husk"(not "the husk") and it's 1st phase is ??? And pahse 2 is kinda like him too...

+Juranur Kinda shows in theory that Hush = Blue baby or ??? In it's true ascension of ultimate power however it was accepted. And given the name of 'Afterbirth' it was probably to be the actual Blue baby's twin (Or somewhere along the lines, possibly Isaac's brother) and Mom failed to save hush during his birth in which led him to become the monstrous power that cannot be played.
MarioIsaGreen well considering that blue baby is isaac's brother already, i dont think hush is that too. I rather think it's isaac's projection of blue baby, before it was born. Near official (not canon tho) lore states that isaac is imagining all the fights, and that the enemies are his altered projections of real-life events or things. That would explain hush
Try flashing graphically realistic images of Isaac struggling and dying in the chest in your head while listening to this. Makes the whole theme feel even more dark and sinister than it already is.

Now I agree than my innermost apocalypse was louder and more like boss music but I feel that this fits more with the fact that he's suffocating in the chest it sounds so dark and sinister. It's like the rest of rebirth's track the original's track was better but rebirth's track fit in with the game better.
I just realized something... or, something just occurred to me.... the rhythm to this song, especially during the first few seconds.... feels similar to the rhythm of Infanticide. Similar, but a bit slower...

That's why delirium is the final boss of the game I think.

While I agree that it's not quite as loud as My Innermost Apocalypse, it's certainly much better; atleast in my opinion. This just feels so dark and sinister, and the more muted sound is like he's actually stuck in the chest; struggling to breathe, struggling with himself. Half of My Innermost Apocalypse sounds too light, not serious enough, which can be good in it's own right i suppose. But that's really just my take on this whole OG soundtrack vs. Rebirth soundtrack.
I feel these 2 tracks are completely equal to me, they're both just so good. While My Innermost Apocalypse may sound lighthearted, I feel it sounds more sad than anything, reflecting on everything that Isaacs been through on this whole journey in his head. Plus, My Innermost Apocalypse sounds kind of sinister in its own right

i never listened to this song for awhile because i just heard the opening and was like “meh, not that interesting”, then i heard a little more and i was like “oh, this is actually kinda bangin”, then the chorus came in and i was like “😱😱😱”
This honestly sounds more like the buildup to an epic battle rather than the Epic Battle itself.

I assume this is some kind of a message:

It might represent Isaac coming to terms with himself. If the theory of Blue Baby being Isaac is correct, then we can assume this is Isaac accepting his death and laying himself to rest. He's accepting the fact that he has sinned and believes he is evil, thus he is battling with himself.
This makes even more sense in my opinion if you kill the angles to get the key peices

To be honest, I hated this song cause it didn't have much UMPF as "Innermost Apocalypse." But after hearing it a bunch of times, I do love it MORE. (Especially the male singer.)
Plus, going with my analogies, both have an interesting message:
*Innermost:*
YOU feel triumphant, YOU feel STRONG, and YOU are ready to move on and let the past be in the past. But something is holding you back: The shell of your former self.
Isaac, to me anyway, is a game about becoming stronger and powerful then you could ever imagine. And when your Beaten, sad/depressed, dead body of yourself, (Blue Baby), is blocking the exit, you challenge it to one more epic showdown to prove YOU are stronger and ready to move on.

This one is kind of interesting, cause the beat is more doom and gloom. Its a struggle. A struggle to let the past be the past, as it DRAGS you down by it's hand. But yet, YOU keep fighting it to let it go, but it keeps haunting you.
Fitting for the characteristics of Isaac. Suffering from depression, yet trying to move forward.
I remember when I got to The Chest with almost normal tears, and I was very, very slow, a pill of speed down after taking items that are already speed down it's not recommend... I had nothing especial but Lost Contact tears with a good tear rate... It wasn't funny... And the battle with ??? was long, and I almost died.
I survived with only 1 HEART left... I'll remember that day my entire life, and this song just reminds me that run. That painful, but glorious, freaking run, thanks Lost Contact...

Hey guys i'm not a music expert and i also have never played this game, but is it just me or the final part (last seconds of the song ) kind of sounds like a heartbeat? I mean, the constant and even spaced beats reminded me of that, and since isaac is supposedly suffocating to death during this i think it fits putting a heartbeat-like sound as the last few seconds of the song. His own heartbeat is likely the last thing he listened to.
I may be totally wrong but i like thinking this way.

Binding of isaac needs more hush like bosses.
It really doesn't. Hush is hard as hell (or it used to be when this comment came out) and it's damage resistance was unique to it and Ultra Greed (and Big Horn for some reason).
I think making more bosses like Hush would really diminish his uniqueness. Hush is a boss that no matter what build you have, he's usually just as tough every time. Meanwhile most other bosses are the type to either get destroyed or give you a really hard time depending on what items you get. That's what's so good about roguelikes.

While this an amazing song, I still prefer My Innermost Apocalypse for fighting Blue Baby, since it gets me a lot more focused, compared to this, which, while lovely, doesn't get me as pumped as MIA does. Both are great tho.

+pelz thats debatable. i find isaac's holy light attack to be very easy to evade. and that's his main move. but they are very close in dificulty
+Yu Narukami I usually struggle very hard with Blue Baby as opposed to Isaac, especially if I'm doing a run that's more defense oriented. The flies - if not taken out fast enough - can literally prevent all damage from getting to him. This isn't usually a problem when you get to the Chest, but once you hit the point where you have crap damage but you can survive any blow the fight becomes a nightmare as you're struggling to hit Blue Baby thanks to those flies.
Isaac's just an adrenaline rush of a battle - and it's a test if you're about to reach the Chest like It Lives is the test to see whether or not you'd make it to Sheol or Cathedral and usually if you couldn';t beat It Lives you weren't gonna get too far in the first place, but Blue Baby is the big final battle - and is much harder as a result.
Not to mention, dem homing attacks. Why?
+IHE Fan 97 Well, this seems like something very opinion oriented. For me, the homing attacks are easy to dodge because the range of them is bad. I don't understand what you mean by "defense oriented" because there are only about 3 defense items. To make it to the end of the game with "crap damage" is very very hard. That's my opinion.
