Saved my paper route money for 1 year to buy a used one of these in the early 80's. I rode the tires off that bike at the playground across the street from my house. I learned to ride and wrench on that bike and seeing one always makes me smile!
Even though I owned a 250 Elsinore, a neighbor had the first year of XR75. I loved thrashing that thing around our little track by the River. So many good memories, every kid in the neighborhood had some kind of bike. That’s all we did after school and all summer long. Often the cops would drop in and we’d scatter in all directions. They eventually brought Suzuki 185’s to bear but us kids put their riders to shame. Chased dozens of times but never once caught. Take that copper.
Can’t beat an old Honda , I’ve owned very many and still do and working on them is second nature, sometimes I m like how did I know how to do that? 43 years of it 👍
I came home to a brand new one in 77. Honda made a customer for life. New tires, grips, levers and a few pinched throttle cables was all it ever needed. I sold it and it went through 3 more kids I knew of.
I had a Honda MTX , it had the same Honda wing on the steel tank , It was white an underneath the Honda wing it has MTX in a nice blue , was like brand new , had front brake disc but it had back drum brake , was a nice bike for a enduro but was not as good as a Yamaha DT125R or the Kawasaki KDX / KMX 125 and 200 , I had 4 DT125R, I don’t think they was sold in America I think you just got the WR for some reason
Wow America did not get the Honda MTX 125 enduro bike? Why I have just googled it , was for the European market like the YAMAHA DT125 R , you should import some for your museum, you would probably be the only people in America that has them, you did not get the Kawasaki, K. M. X as well

Beautiful 75, brings back some good memories. Merry Christmas to all at Kaplan Cycle and the New England Motorcycle Museum! 🎄

Great bikes! I had the worst motorcycle crash of my life on one of these in 1981. I still love these bikes though.

My exhaust was broken off at the peg and was burning my foot so I found a piece of bent swingset pipe and hammered in and was back in business!!

My first “real” motorcycle was an XR75. Probably the same age as that one. NOT that nice.
