Fascinating...they have that same simple, yet magnificent spirit that the Pardys had...
    Thank you for posting

Hello Kicki & Thies, it is really great to share a little of your lifes adventure. My father owned Wanderer 3 for a number of years, he and his girlfriend lived onboard in Brittany before selling this yacht (around 1977) in Lymington Marina. I have a few photographs including one of her near Trinidad when the Hiscocks sailed her. It is really brilliant to see that not only are you suited to great adventure but have restored this beautiful yacht and made her more sound than when new, good wishes, Mark

An amazing couple sailing an amazing boat that pioneered blue water cruising - and keeping alive the Hiscock's spirit of KISS .... Keep it Simple Stupid.

Hello, how are you doing ? I was on your boat in 1988, you were anchored off a little island in Venezuela, my wife and I were hiding on your boat, because the police went by and we had not cleared in yet, remember ? We were on a 46 foot steel ketch and just came back from Brazil. Those were the good old days ! Happy sailing.

Seeing this video and beeing 40 years old and forever a sailor after 2 years in the Navy, married with 3 little kids now-I realised that I will never make a cruise around the World in my life.A tear rolls down my cheek.

The point is not to copy but to inspire your own adventure, find your own world to circumnavigate. That could be as simple as a circumnavigation of your own country or even less the key is to seek adventure. With 3 little kids its even more important, as your job is to inspire them to seek adventure.

The Hiscock's niece thanks those who purchase the video for helping to pay here rent and groceries on the Ise of Wight. TheSailingChannel thanks buyers for helping us recoup the over $2500 we spent in getting the old print restored and professionally scanned to HD by the British Motor Museum. The BMM thanks buyers for helping to pay their salaries. Vimeo and its employees thank buyers for contributing to their livelihood from sales fees. UA-cam thanks viewers for contributing to its advertising revenue. I can go on, but perhaps you've gotten the idea by now. We all have to eat. Believe it or not, despite what you may have heard on the Internet, there is no free lunch.

Yes, Kicki & Thies continue to sail Wanderer III into the high latitudes. Here is a link to a recent interview with them in Cruising World Magazine. www.cruisingworld.com/story/people/five-questions-kicki-ericson-and-thies-matzen/

@@TheSailingChannel Thank you! I bought and read the Hiscock’s sailing books when I was in my early teens in South Africa in late 60’s, they were so inspiring for me and really got me interested in sailing. I still have those books today, and I am about to start re-reading them. They are absolutely priceless storytelling. 👍🏻🙏🏻

Laurent Giles and Co, are at the heart of the great qualities of Wanderer, Virtue 25, and some other extremely finely designed and thought out world cruising boats. It is hard to find finer design qualities for the express purpose of world cruising . Copper rivet fastening is such a fine method. Buy the Hiscocks book, and others of the era, to get a real handle on what is essential to have and sound practice to do.. before you spend money on anything. In the matter of stores, what they should be, and how to handle them, on water, on fuel, on gear... pay attention . Thies and Kicki know what they are talking about, and like the Pardeys, are worthy of some serious respect. You tube is full of sailing douchebags.. here we have real sailors.Hats Off To You !
