This happened to a cow on a family member’s ranch. The baby was left without its mother and had to be raised by them and is now kind of like their pet lol. Its an extremely friendly cow too since it was brought up directly around humans, it’s name is “Dog” Edit: No, dog will not be eaten haha

Like for a 30 foot tall object, lightning has to be within 30 feet of it to be attracted to it. Otherwise it continues on to the ground. The lightning was already headed within a couple feet of that cow.

And the several types you are going on about are not as different as you make them sound. Like 4 of them look the same but are just affected by charge and distance. Ball lighting is extremely rare and usually harmless and we have cloud to cloud basically lightning flashes you see when looking up that make the clouds glow
a buddy of mine told me when he was a kid they had a cow get struck by lightning. They processed the carcass but the meat was inedible because it all tasted like burnt hair.

I think the camera malfunctioned due to the static electricity from the lightning bolt. It is all electrical energy so it wouldn't surprise me if there were some effects.

The whole lightning attracted to tallest object thing only happens when the lightning is within a distance of the height of the object. Like for a 30 foot tall object, lightning has to be within 30 feet of it to be attracted to it. Otherwise it continues on to the ground. The lightning was already headed within a couple feet of that cow.

Not all that surprising that people have viewed it religiously for so long. When lightning rods were first becoming a thing, numerous churches would refuse to use them. They believed lighting was a sign of God’s judgement, so using a lightning rod was trying to subvert God’s eternal plan. Needless to say, these churches had a tendency to burn down. Now everybody is pro lightning prevention.

@@R-BURQUENO yeah it's not bs it's a higher probability of being struck the higher you are. And ground to cloud lightning is relatively rare and uncommon. And the several types you are going on about are not as different as you make them sound. Like 4 of them look the same but are just affected by charge and distance. Ball lighting is extremely rare and usually harmless and we have cloud to cloud basically lightning flashes you see when looking up that make the clouds glow
