It's a great interview. You can tell they mean it, that they've got some secret, that they don't feel any need to start selling themselves dry simply because someone's shining a camera on them. Top lads
1:25 Ian's answer to that bullshit question is absolutely fucking spot on.. You join a band for the love of music and trouble with the shite around in pop/rock today is to make a quick buck out of soulless music out of the puppet musicians - IE, Simon Fucking Cowell
because the Stone Roses stood against any form of nationalism - they hated it, and viewed it - correctly in my opinion - as the irrational source of many irrational conflicts. as Ian Brown once said, 'it's not where you're from, it's where you're at'.
Yet they did like 60s psychedelia and punk, they'd said. That 60s thing keeping me awake at night, was always confusing. Maybe it was the overt focus on that even though they pioneered a new sound and genre with the dance fusion.
So obvious her own warped and negative mind is reflected in all her questions. How could they stand it? So polite of them. If this was Zeppelin she wouldn't have survived the interview. These guys were truely awesome.
Dude the questions were nowhere near as bad as the answers. She asked questions and they just sat there not saying anything, and after a follow up prompt one of them would say a single word. Could you imagine being a journalist and having to deal with that? And when they do answer it's things like "I'm not proud because pride is a sin' lol
All your comments are so depressing haha, just enjoy this interview for what it is. The awkwardness is deliberate, really taking the piss out of the interviewer, and too right... What shit questions!
@@jackblakey3314Liam disagrees with that. It's the Roses The difference is clear, a very enjoyable and successful band through the door opened for them, and true originals, pioneers.
Getting a tattoo of a national flag doesnt mean you have to support the monarchy. The two can be mutually exclusive. Squire painted a Union Jack, doesn't mean he loves the Royal Family, does it??
wow what a disrespectful negative interviewer just trying to push them in to doubting selves when they are one of the most influential bands of all time and her life in comparison is full of in-adequateness
well like the interviewer pointed out, he is an anti-royalist, and the union jack represents all four UK countries under the rule of the British monarchy. He exposing his tattoo would be contraversial and he'd be looked at as a hypocrite
Very sterile interviewer with stupid questions. They're deliberately being difficult but a skilled interviewer can make people open up with a bit of charm. she doesn't seem to have any so just went with the ask open ended provocative questions and hope for a reaction tact.
‘It takes time for people to fall in love with you...but it’s inevitable’ best quote ever
It's like a fuckin police questioning
hahaha too right mate

7:57 . Good god.
“Hopefully people will form groups as a result of seeing us” - *Enter Oasis*
Love how they control their interviews and they just don't give a fuck about anything but being themselves that's how it should be

I bet they're stoned as fuck
Funny thing is, with Mani and Reni it would have been a totally different interview.
They were very attractive...

Agree. And the "misfitscheary" typical from the youth un that time doesnt deny they are great artists. You're correct, hard time for the interviewer :D
My respect and admiration for these guys. True artists.
who is this interviewer and why in gods name has she been hired
Why does the interviewer sound like a head teacher or a jobcentre worker?
What kind of questions are these?
takes time for people to fall in love with you- isnt this the truth people adore the roses not just LIKE them
This is the most awkward thing I have ever seen in my life.
Well its ah fuckin woman asking questions 🙄
You can see Ian is chanelling Loki, God of Mischief, in this interview
2:41 to 3:15 is the best timed answer to any question ever
I thought it was fairly shit
This is a staged interview. It’s a piece of art film.
The odd thing about that interview is the fact that neither of them have changed
They are talking at 1mph but what they are saying is real and true and moving in some parts of it.
Enthralling conversation.
Where’s the questions about the actual music? What a strange set of questions.
Wow this is like watching a funeral

You wouldn't think so
It surprises me he says he's anti tribalism, yet he's a big Man Utd fan. Is there anything more tribal than football?

The questions are rubbish🤣 Very weird and awkward.

This just reminds me of some musicians I know who are arseholes.
Ian Brown is a top guy in real life, proper humble and John Squire is proper quiet like he is in this. Just being themselves mate
Worst interview ever very negative hope you don't do it now love
