- The Bible's four gospels paint four portraits of Jesus. While each gospel follows him on the same journey, they recount it a little differently. They had their own methods, styles, purposes, audiences, and (probably) sources--making each portrait of Jesus uniquely valuable.
I'm SOOOO Blessed to have this teaching. I'm a NT Survey student and was reading my textbook, but just couldn't 'get it'! This along with another teaching I just watched...the light bulb finally turned on. THANK YOU, thank you and thank you!

Whether the Q source exists or not, one thing is certain: The Gospels are written records of the life of Jesus, His works, and ministry. As such they will contain eyewitness accounts of the works and ministry of Jesus that someone wrote down for us to read and learn from.

Even though religious academicians speak about "gospels," the New Testament never speaks of such. Matthew, Mark, Like, and John are biographies of Jesus the Messiah. There is ONE and ONLY ONE" gospel.
It cannot be understated that the early church fathers / writers unanimously attested that Matthew wrote the 1st Gospel in the language of the Jews. This could very well be the Q. We haven't found it because the Romans burnt Jerusalem to the ground. Once that happened, there would have been little need for an Aramaic text. It also explains why Matthew uses Greek words since they were translating an early Aramaic copy to a new language, it would make sense to use Greek words and ditch the original language. Even the name Matthew being used instead of Levi would greatly support this theory. The biggest argument though is a matter of common sense: Why would Matthew, an eye witness and primary source, need to rely on Mark, someone who wasn't even there? The reason the Gospels appear in the order of Matthew Mark Luke John is because that was the order in which they were written.
Hebrew/Aramaic Matthew, whatever it was, could not have been Q. M was regarded as a narrative gospel, whereas Q would have been a sayings gospel, similar to the extant gospel of Thomas.

Just coz you are ignorant of the historical truths does not mean everything is a scam. Knowing what you believe and why you believe is your responsibility and not the pastors
ummm... the development of the gospels historically is thought like this in any theological class. It has nothing to do with scam, all historical books are formed like this.
