@blackfeathersonangel: I sat in silent horror watching this man eating mayonnaise right off a spoon, but I learned from it. Time well spent, I suppose.
Hellmann's (weirdly - for an East coaster - called Best Foods in CA) is the best mayonnaise and irreplicable without going fully homemade. Rich without being overwhelming and better versions of the other brands can be made with it as a base if you add in vinegar/mustard/sugar/etc. Use it as a butter replacement for grilling sandwiches or toasting buns if you really want to unlock its full potential (much easier to spread and mix in other flavors than butter). Jon is on his way to knowing but not quite there yet. XD
We use both in my house. I've had to tell my mom about the benefits of both. Now i can just show this video to anyone that questions why the multiple mayonnaise.
Im always blown away by your pallette Like, how do you pickup on these individual little tiny notes in the one single ingredient?? Gun to my head i wouldve never been able to associate umami with kewpie Its an absolutely incredible talent
Mayo lover here especially with fries when tarter sauce is not available.... Best Foods and Kewpie for the win. Here is Seattle Duke and Blue Plate are not regularly available unless you order online. Although any restaurant brand heavy mayo is delicious as well. Just saying yum💕🌸
The house I grew up in we used Miracle Whip. We used it for potato salads, deviled eggs and sandwiches. I also like the taste(don't fight me on his it's a waste of your energy, time and effort). But my godmother and her family like Hellmans which I always thought tasted bitter. We also put mustard in our potato salad. They did not. But one of my sisters likes Dukes. Which I'm not that found of. I'm going to try the Kewpie though because I've heard good things. But now I want a bacon sandwich..... lol. Btw a tomato sandwich just always hits the spot. Sometimes I put the tomatoes in a container, drizzle a little balsamic vinegar on it, shake the container and then make the tomato sandwich. It's always a good time.
My local asian grocery store doesn’t store kewpie mayo so i might have to order it online to try, but i’m reluctant because i don’t actually like mayo nor do I use a lot of it (only for asparagus, tuna mayo toasts, and crab at Christmas, so….five times a year lol). I use Maille, which is readily available in France, my favorite being the one with added Dijon mustard in it.
So interesting to hear someone call Dukes mild 😆 my family thinks it’s too strong, then again they love Kraft which is like a hint of flavor from across the street
In Australia we get Hellman's, Best Foods (apparently the same product with slight differences in formula), and S&W, and also Kewpie. We get some other brands but you probably haven't heard of them Oh yeah, also Praise and Heinz, but imo they're worth no more of a mention than the supermarket brands which are more or less equally as bad but cheaper I have no reference point here sadly, but the principle of the explanation works
The first thing I taught myself when I moved out of home was to make my own mayonnaise: egg yolk, Dijon mustard, olive oil, salt & pepper mixed carefully. But it’s too hard to make on a hot summer’s day. Then I use Kewpie.
Do a mayo review. Try mexican mayonnaise. Not sure if theres any specific brand, but I remember trying one with a red lid (probably Mccormicks) and it was really good. Maybe because they used lime instead of lemon
Honestly for me and my family we use both depending on how much of an egg taste we want. To us the QP (yes i know that's not how you spell it) is more egg flavored than the dukes.
I made the mistake of using Kewpie for a tomato sandwich once, and it was the most disappointing sandwich I’ve had in a long time. I can eat tomato sandwiches all day long, they’re one of my favorite things, and I’ve been eating them for nearly thirty years now. I couldn’t finish that sandwich, I wound up reusing the components for tuna.
I agree with some of what Candy said, but a 10-year-old alone with a parent can’t push back. She also doesn’t need STUFF. She needs TOOLS to handle the rejection and abuse her birthgiver dishes out.
The mayo review I didn’t know I needed. Thinking about how to pair different mayos with food is honestly a really helpful concept.
@blackfeathersonangel: I sat in silent horror watching this man eating mayonnaise right off a spoon, but I learned from it. Time well spent, I suppose.
Stares confusingly in Hellman's 😂
Can someone tell me whether dukes is actually better than hellmans lol
@@littlebumgorfdukes is tangy, hellmans is more mild. Both good for different things
@@littlebumgorf damn just taste both
@@littlebumgorf I'll say it.. HELLMANN'S IS BETTER! 😅

A comparison review that finds utility for both. Glad to see it.
This is my Sunday sermon 🙌🏻
Praise be!

Me too.. I need them both! If I run out of one before the other I will use the other in its place tho
Basically, the brilliant-level analysis I have come to take for granted with you.
Oh how I remember the Tomato Sandwich series. What a good time🫶🏾
As someone who hasn't tried Kewpie yet, thank you for this. I can totally see why you'd want both in the kitchen, need to go get some now!
I've always been curious about Kewpie mayo but too cheap to buy some in case I didn't like it. Thank you for the great comparison.
Im always blown away by your pallette

I do kewpie on my tomato sandwich which still tastes great with heirlooms but I’m gonna try Duke’s to see the difference. Thanks for the video

ILove Duke’s, have never seen the other brand in a store but my favorite is the Mayo that I make myself from scratch!!Yum Yum
It's pretty easy to make your own with an immersion blender, but yeah, those two brands are my go-to's for the exact reasons you stated 👍.
I love both of them so much
You are just so good looking and informative just a perfect combination. Thanks for the info!
Kewpie I like for dips and if I'm making an American style "salad" but for sandwiches I like Duke's more! :)
Summer is upon us and I CANNOT WAIT for the heirloom tomato sammies!! I hope you'll be able to find some new varieties to try and share with us 🫶🏾🌻
On point review. Quandary- what about a BLT? Suggestions welcome. Perhaps a taste test with each half.

We need Best Foods v. Dukes
Def getting some dukes the next time I’m at the store.
Love the Kewpie and need to try Duke’s but my ride or die has always been McCormick Mayonesa with lime juice

You made a wonderful tomato sandwich series last year... can we look forward to a bacon sandwich series now? Is this the start?

I love both for different things.
I have both for similar reasons and even miracle whip cause grew up in the 80s
So, foods that are slightly more acidic use Dukes, and foods that are lacking acid use Kewpie. Got it 👍
And so now I must adopt the 2 mayo lifestyle...I never thought of using different mayo for different food. But it all makes sense now. 😜
Now you gotta do all those recipes and do comparisons!
You need to try Devos lemmens mayo with lemon.
It’s my favourite! Also kewpie is too sweet in my opinion.
Do a mayo review. Try mexican mayonnaise. Not sure if theres any specific brand, but I remember trying one with a red lid (probably Mccormicks) and it was really good. Maybe because they used lime instead of lemon
I have both kewpie and dukes in my fridge right now, i will never settle for anything less
Never heard of Dukes! Will have to look for it and give it a try 😊

What about hellsman
heinz mayo being discontinued in the states was a major loss for me
Hellmans organic tastes pretty damn good if you can find it. But yeah I love duke’s and kewpie mayo
Idk if it's just me or what, but I wouldn't describe kewpie as light. Texture wise, the one I buy is fairly dense.
THANK YOU!
Thanks chef
My two favorite mayos. The Duke’s makes a great chocolate cake.
Can you show us how to make both at home?
Once you go to Louisiana and try Blue Plate mayo you won’t be able to eat any other mayo I promise you gotta try it
Now I need to know what you use for BLTs. Both? Neither?
I automatically like and comment for any tomato sandwich content.
Yea im just not gonna eat the thick seed oil spread when its so easy to make it myself
Bro, what’s your thoughts on Miracle Whip?
You ain’t had real mayonnaise in ya mouth till ya had Blue Plate
Sadly, I cannot get Dukes where I am in Canada. Luckily I can get Kewpie.
Double up on a BLT or what?
Its called a tasting and its classy
Hellmans is the bomb.
Surprisingly no name makes some damn good mayonnaise also.
Hellmans is my go to

You live in Michigan. But not talking about miracle whip? Bruh😢
I like Kewpie but my wife likes Hellman’s or Miracle whip, but honestly I don’t find any of them offensive to my tastes.
Those are the two mayos in my kitchen
...Blue ribbon mayo please.
I lived in Japan 6 years so now I only use kewpie lol
Best foods is the way to go.
I did not like Dukes at first when I moved to the east coast. But I'm guessing you're using Dukes as a stand in for any other american mayonnaise.
Yeahhhhh my man
Tldw: why don't we have both.
Now a BLT? WHAT DO WE USE THEN!?!?
well said
So, do you both on a BLT?
So both for blt?
Wait.. people dip fries in mayo? As in mayo by itself or is he talking about a sauce like an aioli
McCormick Mayonesa / Trader Joe’s Mayo clears both of these
Blue Plate all day
Lol Hellman's and dukes are the ones with the craziest fanbases my nan
No one’s ever called me grandma before.
@@jonkung haha :-P my thumbs are too big to type sometimes..
I feel like you need a mid west mom on this one Haahaa
yumyum
Kewpie mayo is necessary for many recipes though ou cam make it yourself
Im from the south so im a blue plate girly, everyother mayo is to acidic for me
I'm a fan of Mike's. Minimal ingredients.
Blue Plate
No ladies choice?
I could NEVER stand there and just taste plain mayo...yuck
Yes and yes
I can’t stand how eggy kewpie tastes 😭
Hellmans clears.
Meh... I'm a Hellman's guy
Canola oil/soybean oil. Yuck.
You’re thinking a little too hard about mayonnaise…
I don’t think you’re thinking hard enough about it.
I agree with some of what Candy said, but a 10-year-old alone with a parent can’t push back. She also doesn’t need STUFF. She needs TOOLS to handle the rejection and abuse her birthgiver dishes out.
i think you might've commented this under the wrong video.
@@3bugsinatrenchcoatrite, wow 😂
Dukes is inferior to hellmans, but Kewpie is the best
Talk even more slowly rofl.
Not interesting boring subject, slow talker, just milking right
Im the south we use blueplate
Kewpie is thicc AF compared to Hellman's, I've never tried dukes but now I'm curious 🦝
