- The Pikmin 4 Demo is HERE! I couldn't wait until the end of the month for this, I NEEDED to talk about Pikmin 4 NOW. Pikmin 4 is a Reboot, but it stays true to its predecessors while improving just about everything that was good about Pikmin to begin with!

Been seeing a lot of "Not a Reboot" comments.
I will explain my logic here:
-The exact same story and ship as Pikmin 1 but diverts when Moss (the dog) is discovered.
-Olimar has a different ship in every game so far, the SS Dolphin OG model has been gone since Pikmin 2.
-Referencing the Bad Ending of Pikmin 1 when no othet game in the series has done this
-With how many trips Olimar has taken to PNF-404 in the past, there's no reason to broadcast a rescue signal to everyone in the universe, his employers, Louie, President, and even Alph Brittany and Charlie would know where to look for him.
-Flarlic/Onion Limits are completely different than before even for Olimar's squad and he doesn't question this
-When Olimar introduces the game, he makes it sound as if this is his first trip to the planet and first time discovering the Pikmin
-It'd be really lazy to re-use the story from Pikmin 1 almost verbatim. I know it's a joke in the fandom that Olimar is a bad driver, but this is too similar.
-most importantly, Olimar escaped on his own before and never mentions this.
I mean it's objectively not a reboot judging just from how we have all the reports left over from olimar that reference stuff from past games
Like maybe under "Soft" reboot where it's still a continuation but will largely be just a fresh new move forward but it's 100% not a hard reboot that just throws away the last 3.5 games. Weirdly enough iirc hey pikmin started the whole "Sparklium" thing so we know atleast that's still canon

Time does pass while in caves, but it's much slower. Likely the 1/6th the speed that the game tells you.
I even tested this to make sure the game wasn't just using that as an excuse to say "infinite time". I went in at noon, waited a few real life hours, and I came out to the 10 second countdown.
So time passes, but the day can't just end while you're down there.
by your calculations, did it seem 1/6 the speed or even slower?
@@AlarmingAnimations I suspect that it is indeed 1/6 the speed, but I didn't exactly measure it in any deeper way. It COULD be a different rate I suppose, but idk why they'd just lie about the exact rate if they're going to provide one. My test was mostly just to make sure that time does in fact pass.
Something to note though, is that at 1/6 the speed, time practically is paused. to put it into perspective, you'd need to spend an entire hour down there in order for 10 minutes to pass, which is less than the length of a day. So with caves that are only lasting maybe 10 minutes tops, it's only gonna advance the time by like 1 minute.
I really love the new onion design, the 1 and 2 design while it feels natural it doesn't look like an actual onion. The 3 design looks a tiny bit more like an onion (but still not at the same time) but it looks a bit too mechanical. This new onion, however, actually looks like a real onion and has a nice mix of natural and mechanical, I love all the past onions but this new one is my favorite.

Pikmin 3 onion is really weird, why does it have metallic parts and boosters lol, did the pikmin build industries now
I actually like the original onion design more, I think it looks more like garlic but it’s more iconic. But the newer designs feel more organic/sentient

My theory is that the story we hear at the start of the game is told by that leafling olimar we see in dandory battles and that leaflings are castaways infected by the parasite pikmin that make bulbmin in 2. I also think that leafling olimar sent the signal from the start of the game to trap castaways and tern them into more leafling's!

Yeah none of the cave floors in the entire demo are randomly generated. I played it a few times and they were the exact same across multiple save files.
Maybe they will be in the future and this is the avoid us seeing things that could slip through the cracks of random generation but they probably aren’t randomly generated

I’m not sure it’s a reboot, yes theres evidence to suggest it, but we also need to consider that Olimar got his first ship back after I think either pikmin 2 or 3, and he could have just crashed again.

What evidence is there to point to it not being a reboot.
Nintendo basically confirmed it by saying "To new players, don't think of it as Pikmin 4, but rather, Pikmin."
People who don't believe it's a reboot are just coping at this point.

Miyamoto played the long game. It's always been about Dogmin. But, the people weren't ready. Dogio is next.
The game feels more like a soft reboot, changing some things but a lot remains the same, it does feel like theyre going in a new path for the series now seen with the new icons and the changes made still though a lot is the same and the story is a continuation of the past games. (Maybe not hey pikmin)

Completely unrelated, but imagine how cool it would be if we got a remix of the pikmin 1 final boss theme for the emperor bulblax battle? They already seem to have a ton of boss themes so it seems like it could be a nice touch

So how does it feel knowing that this entire video was useless and wrong now that its 100% confirmed that pikmin 4 is not a reboot via the game itself?

It's definetely a soft reboot/ reimagining, that has changed how the Pikmin lore and nature works. It's a different version of Olimar's first crashlanding, did you even play or read any of the game bro? There's ton of info and dialogue that clearly proves none of the other games have happened yet.
@mrhotsalsa6479 I literally am playing the game right now and it's NOT his first time there. He mentions this several times and even mentions the events of pikmin 1, 2, and 3. Hell even Brittany, Alph, and Charlie make appearances. Not in person but they do get ID cards and they even put a new trio that look like their doppelgangers as a sly reference.
My guy it's painfully obvious YOU are the one who hasn't played it yet and are only getting information from speculation videos that were made from before the game even came out. Like you know people have 100% beaten the game already right? There's not speculation anymore. It's hard confirmed the game is not a reboot.

-Olimar straight out DREAMS about Pikmin 2 happening, he never mentions it actually happened.
-Louie straight out says he is waiting for the right shipment of Golden Pikpik carrots to finally eat them. (You can read this in his logs)
-The Koppaite trio is not in the game in any form of ID? The trio that alludes them, MENTION the original Koppaites, some being related to them. But they straight out mention that Koppai is going to SOON be in a food crisis if they don't organize well.
-There is a musical box that makes the sound of the Pikmin 3 main theme. In the Piklopedia log Olimar straight out says this song is calm but makes him feel anxious about a possible adventure coming up. Alluding that the story in Pikmin 3 is bound to happen to him at some point either way.

I think that until there is a reboot of pikmin 2-3 that this game will take the place of Pikmin 1 in the lore and that the same events play out after this as in pikmin 2 and 3 and that they play out the exact same until stated otherwise
