Dude, I have some craftsman pliers I bought in 1982. No rubber grips but indestructible, and look like channelocks. I have used channelocks so many years, every slip joint pliers I have that are called channelocks by me. Lol. I have a pair of channelocks that look like the knipfe (the round inner jaw). They never slip. The key is leverage. Pliers too small slip. Pliers too big slip. Pliers that adjust to many slots rarely slip, but, when they do....they REALLY DO. I’ve had my fair share of rounded off nuts and bolts. Good vid. I liked the red took. But I can make do with what I have. Lol. Good day. 👍
Thank you for the comments! I had to pin your comment! The info about the pliers too big and too small is great info. Info I will be mentioning when I shoot a channel lock video at some point. Thank you for watching Harry!
I started my professional mechanic career in 1979, as an apprentice in a lawnmower shop at 14 yrs. old. In 1997 I got a pair of Knipex Wire Cutters, they have been my go to cutters more than any other, that same pair are still the single best cutting pliars in my toolbox. My sin-in-law uses them weekly while maintaining his 4 log hauling semi's and has been for 9 years.
Dude that is awesome. I have been really impressed! Thank you for watching and sharing!
I just spent almost $200.00 on Knipex pliers I bought the 12 inch Cobra’s the 10 inch Alligator’s and the 7 inch Cobra’s and I bought the 10 inch pliers wrench.
Wow! Awesome. Definitely quality tools. Put em to good use!
@@ThatFixItGuy I had thought since I had some extra money I thought why not because I use hand tools quite a bit I use hand tools more than power tools actually
The quality remains long after the price is forgotten
Totally agree! Such a great mindset to have when tool shopping! 😁
the sad part is the Germans and Japanese are making innovative quality tools while most American companies are competing for cheapness making their tools in China now or trying to make cheap American made tools rather than trying to be best
Your right. It is a bummer that is how things are playing out this way right now. It is either too cheap or cost crazy amounts of money.
“In my heart ❤️ & toolbox forever!” Now I want to go buy $33 channel locks. Damn it.
I know! They are pretty sweet! Thank you for watching April!
If you use pliers you will like these. And they are STRONG.
Have had the same pair of 8” Cobras in my back pocket for probably 12+ years. Work and at home. Can’t beat them.
These have been my everyday carry since I got em! Very handy little tool!
As I crawled out of the primordial ooze, Channellocks were my first step on the "Good Pliers" path. I was getting them new for a very fair price at the local flea market. Loved 'em!
But now I've found Knipex. Channellock has nothing to be ashamed of -- American made, sturdy, fair price. But the Knipex are just amazing.
Love these things I’ve worked as a aircraft mechanic for 7 almost 8 years now the 6 inch and the 12 inch are probably one of my most used tools. Along with 90 degree and regular needle nose and a good awl.
Yeah they have been great! I have got a couple more pair as gifts and been loving it. Does knipex make a Awl?
That Fix It Guy not that I’m aware off they have screwdrivers, ratchets, cable knifes, and a mini hacksaw but there bread and butter seems to be, pliers, bolt cutters, wire strippers etc
They now have the XS Cobras 100mm (4”). You don’t have to worry about stepping on them because (they won’t break), if you broke them you wouldn’t have to buy a new set because Knipex will replace them for free. I replaced my Channelocks a little less than a year ago, I was waiting patiently for them to fail for almost half a decade of use tightening conduit fittings as an electrician so I would have an excuse to buy Knipex cobras but they won’t die and will most likely not leave my bag even though I have better tools.
Eared a new subscriber here!
That is awesome! First thank you for the sub! That is great at to know that knipex customer service is as top knot has as there tools! They have made me realize I was missing out a bit.
Around 1989/90 MAC tools came out with regular sized pipe wrench pliers that held like that. Once on the harder you applied pressure the harder they gripped. I actually tore off 5/8th exhaust bolts with mine. Watched the tool salesman weighing 240 lbs bouncing on the top handle and they wouldn't break. Still have that plier and still my go to.
Can you send me a picture of those bad boys. Ufix247@gmail.com I always love checking out good tools!
i actually like my dad's old pliers for plumbing I'm used to them they don't make them anymore. but some of these new push button adjust pliers are pretty nice. i have the new Channellock push button adjust they have some good ,some bad features. have you tried the new knipex plier wrenches it is like half adjustable wrench half pliers
I have wanted to buy some of the plier wrenches lots of great reviews on them, but a heavy price as well. I will get a set one of these days. I got a 3 pack of knipex cobras as a gift. They are sweet.
Notice the handles don’t touch together at any point so it doesn’t pinch your skin when you inevitably slip off something.....
Dude! Yes! I have been loving that! I will do another review video on the set I got awhile back and will add this point for sure! They are worth the price just for that! Thank you for watching!
We always called them water pump pliers
I have seen that some places call them water pump pliers. I have never used pliers like this before!
My every day carry was a pair of knipex linesman pliers and a leatherman copy
But have just ordered a set of cobra xs and pliers wrench xs at just 4inch in size to go with my leatherman and replace my linesman set for edc as a part of my work wear
Yeah right on. I really do love all these knipex tools I’ve been using lately.
The knipex absolutely better, thanks for the video Brian good to see little fix it helping you 👍
Thank you Britt. I was and am still really surprised. Never to late to find your new favorite tool.
Tekon makes good channel locks
I have a couple things at work made by them! I will be checking these pliers out for sure! Thank you!
I use my v groove channel locks a lot more than my cobras
I love the minis
But my channel locks are my favorite pliers of all +50 pliers that I own👍👍😁
I love these little pliers, but there are times where I need a straight jaw plier to get the job done. thank you for your comments.
After using Knipex, there was no going back... Tongue in groove pliers are garbage imo, they have their place, but not in my toolbox
You are right they are so nice! Thank you for watching!
Luv my Knipex 10" Alligator Pliers
💪😏
Nice video. I have the 5 inch Cobras. The button has a tendency to get stuck when depressed. I have to jiggle the handles to get them to disengage and snap out. Is this normal? I tried lube. Thanks.
That are such a simple design. Maybe check that bent metal piece that acts as the spring. That screw may be loose or that metal may have bent.
The button on mine stays in as well when it is not in a groove. I either have to go up or down a little then it will pop back out. As long as the button is still working is all that matters. Thank you for watching.
Great test & video 👍🔧. Both definitely have their place. I just picked up the 16inch Cobra from Mac for 129. I know it's not the best price but I can warranty if teeth wear or anything breaks. For anything round i use my PWZ's or Swedish Pipe Wrench.
You can never go wrong with a warranty especially if you get a little ruff with the tools at times! Lol. Thank you for watching!
Channellock makes a 6.5" V-Jaw pliers (model 412) or the GL6 Griplock pliers.
I’m going to have to check them out. Do you like them vs the knipex?
@@ThatFixItGuy
I have never used Knipex pliers. I found them to be way overpriced compared to Channellock.
I did not even know about knipex till I started doing UA-cam. I’m going to have to check out the models you mentioned. I’ve only ever used the 426 model. But I can tell you these little pliers are pretty sweet. I’m happy to have spent the 25 bucks. I will be doing a review on them at some point now after owning them for a year. Thank you for checking out the video.
As a sparky for 25yrs I love the Knipex, but for some reason I keep the channellocks in my tool pouches
I love these knipex 6in pliers and I got some additions to my set for Father’s Day. But like you said I still have channel locks in my bucket. Old habits die hard I guess. Thank you for watching!
@@ThatFixItGuy good video, thank you
Look like sweet pliers! Love little fix it!
They have been great! Thank you for watching!
I think the knipex plier be able to hold your weight too. They're pretty strong
That is what I thought too. I just could not chance it having just paid 40 dollars for a pair of pliers.
@@ThatFixItGuy :) I've heard that knipex has very good lifetime guarantee program.
But yeah, there's no need to do it this
Luv my 10" Knipex Alligator Pliers' I pocket carry them Daily at Work'
Knipex Is the King'. 💪😏
Yeah bro!! I carry my 6” all the time now as well. Feel naked without em.
As a german let me say, that you pronounced "Knipex" in this video almost correct, but the "i" in Knipex must sound like the first "i" in US-state - Illinois - 😏
lol! I was wondering if I said it right. I’m so bad with that kinda thing. So it is k nip ex not kn eye pex? I like it. Thank you for watching and the help
That Fix It Guy : No big deal! You are welcome.👍
You understand perhaps, that nobody gives a crap the way Knipex is pronounced.
Thanks for the tips and demonstration!
Thanks for the tips Brian! Sweet set of pliers!
Yes they are! 😉
great video and congrats on getting over 800!!!!
Thank you! Feeling very blessed!
That Fix It Guy we just reached 800 tonight
I had my knipex pliers before you tube and facebook where so widely used I bought my first pair about 25 years ago
One other thing never pinched my hand with a pair of knipex
I wish I would have known about them then. They never leave my pocket now, I can imagine how many trips to the truck owning this little pair would have saved me!
Thank you for checking out the channel.
That has been one of my favorite things as well!
I’ve been on the snap on truck before so I seen smaller that that for over 100
That is CRAZY to me! I have never been on one of those trucks and don't know that I need to. I think I could get into trouble! Thank you for checking out the channel!
You forgot to mention that they are designed so you can’t pinch yourself at any point between the handles
Thank you for mentioning this. I am planning on doing another video since I have added a couple more pair to my collection since buying these! They are amazing pliers.
@@ThatFixItGuy definitely, I only have the small 5 inch at home I keep in a small tool kit in my suv out of a maxpdition fatty though I have a few different sizes at work. Have been wanting to try there pilers wrench out
When you do let me know. I am always interested in a new tool. Thanks for checking out the channel.
Nice vid buddy..enjoyed it!
Thank you bro!
Subbed to Stoney Ridge years ago to learn about chickens. Subbing to That Fix It Guy now cuz I needed to know about Cobra pliers. Convinced me to buy some. Thanks.
I know! I kinda wish a knew earlier in life!
@@ThatFixItGuy yep. I can see that one pair of cobra pliers won’t be enough. Gonna need at least a second. Might get the 10” to go with the 6” that’s in transit already. Thanks again.
My mom and my brother got me this as a present! Good gift givers!
Kinpex Cobra 3 Piece Plier set link: amzn.to/3nAxN1Y I was blown away! I love new tools!
Knipex are spectacular tools but will they last 30 years is the real question
That is a great question! I’ve been carrying these pliers since the day I got em. 28 1/2 more years to go! 🤣
I have a pair like the cobras I got off of the Matco tool truck and the are a must for a mechanic. That jaw design make a big difference. Great video brother
Oh that is cool. I know Matco makes quality tools as well! I love the jaw design. I never knew! Thanks for watching Steve.
Got my Knipex Cobra three set a couple years ago, wish I would have got them a long time a go. They are pricey, but they work so damn good
It is true! They are great pliers. Anyone that can afford them will end up loving them. Thank you for watching!
just a hint a certain tool truck with a wrench logo carries knipeck so if worried about getting a replacement most won't care about replacing them for you even if you don't have an account with them 😉
That is great to know! Thank you for sharing that tip!
Try out the tekton PGA16007 . These USA made pliers are awesome and costed me like $7 bucks
I am going to check these out for sure. Especially at that price point.
I switched to knipex about 20 years ago mostly because I hate blood blisters, they don't slip, and they grip as they tighten. A better tool
They have made me a believer for sure! Quality tools.
Are you going to purchase the Knipex Cobra XS ?
I don’t know that. I have the those 6” and really like them. They are so small I feel like I would lose them. You?
@@ThatFixItGuy I have just ordered the Knipex Cobra set which contains 5 different sizes all in one nice storage case. The 125, 150, 180, 250, 300.
My carharts always have a pair of cobras in the side pocket!
I love it. Now mine do as well! Thank you for checking out the video!
Same' I keep my 10" Knipex Alligator Pliers In my USA made bo1 double front duck pants pocket Daily at Work" 💪 Knipex
I started with the 180mm cobras . Now I have a few more .
I totally understand why! Thank you for watching!
Short answer. Yes.
Indeed!
Used the Knipex for years and years. Love being able to put a cheater bar on them. No better pliers made.
That is true! Thank you for watching!
Knipex Cobras are the gateway drugs! Now you need 10" Cobras.
Then you'll need their "pliers wrench", especially as a plumber.
Knipex are not just better, they are the best.
They have been awesome so far. I just never knew.
Knipex is worth every penny !!!!
Man they are awesome. Took my tool experience up to a 10.
After watching Wranglerstar just throwing away tools that weren’t up to his standards just showed me he’s not a true tool guy if it’s not broke you don’t throw it away.
If I totally get it bro. Channel lock does not make a bad product. When I saw that I just laughed. My money is on him not throwing them away. I bought those little 6 in pliers and like them, but still have to use the straight jaw 6in from channel lock still. They are not great for some applications
I could be wrong but I believe they are pronounce Ne-Pex (like the Neck minus the ck or Next)) the K is silent in German when before a N
This is great to know! You can find so many people at this point saying it different. I’m on my way to sounding legit now!
Short answer: yes.
Right on. I have been enjoying them.
Thefixitguy I have not been able to break my 180mm cobras. They are STRONG but I get it. Why stand on them for no reason
Yeah I did not want to take the chance but wanted to show how the grip!
@@ThatFixItGuy
Your test was a tougher one than knipex does . You used a smaller diameter shaft to grip on. And th at still held!
Wrangler star is getting his information from professional real mechanics not DYII or weekend warriors 40+ hours a week real mechanics.
Yeah right on! These pliers have been great that’s for sure! A little bit pricey, but good things usually are! Thanks for watching!
Quality content. Subbed.
Thank you so much. We are trying to help where we can.
Cody is wrong more often than hes right.
LOL. Well I’m pretty new to UA-cam so I don’t know that. Only been watching for a few months. He is right about these pliers though!
@@ThatFixItGuy Check out this BS article about how his house was supposedly a 100 year old log cabin that re renovated. That's a crock of shit. His house was built in the late 40s and was move in ready when he bought the property. His land used to be an alpaca farm.
timberlinemag.com/2016/06/have-chainsaw-will-homestead-granberg-alaskan-mill-helps-couple-establish-new-lifestyle/
Hey Chris You may be on to something here. This article seems like a puff piece for sure. I checked out the other link and you are correct. Used to be an alpaca farm. So interesting. Why is the question?
@@ThatFixItGuy Its hard to say. Something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way. Like we were only getting half his story. He doesnt seem to be this man's man salt of the earth guy he portrays himself to be. He just seems like some wealthy nutjob whos only hobby seems to be looking for attention on youtube. And, then theres the whole business of wanting to start a cult.
ua-cam.com/video/FZQ7_Ow4aSo/v-deo.html
Man I really hope that is not the case! He has a big audience and says some good stuff. Would be a shame if it is all a sham. That is an interesting video. He did say he is moving soon and will be starting to make this happen.
Wait until you use Knipex vice grips, another tool you never knew you needed. ;)
I will be looking at those this morning! Lol I bet they will be another tool I never knew I needed!
Knipex all the way.
They are really nice. Do you own any of the smooth jawed style pliers?
Little Fix It!! So Cute!!
Oh yeah! He is the star!
I have the smallest Cobra. Im using it at work, it has enough grip for literally everything i need. Its undestroyable. People think its a toy.. but its a beast of a tool.
yes they are worth it ... coming from a plumber
They have been my EDC pliers for over a year now. I really like them.
Wranglestar?
He is a UA-camr that does homesteading.
👍👍🌹🌹
Do you like knipex?
I'm sure he was right and they're a good tool, but he was absolutely wrong in saying Channellock is now worthless just because Knipex exists.
Tongue and groove or otherwise Channellock still makes an excellent tool ( I like their screwdrivers too), and I'll always trust them.
From my favorite 337 dykes, 357 end cutters, the 426 I carry every day at work, or the 1933 pair of #420 from my grandfather they are great tools.
I saw his last video regarding the subject and based solely on his hypocritical elitist attitude about Knipex I went to the local hardware store and bought another pair of CHANNELLOCK pliers.
Oh bro I totally agree with you. There is something to be said about just the feel of a pair of 440s in the hand. Had used a lot of different pliers over the years and I love them.
These little 6” knipex are cool, but the reality is for most people they are expensive. For one pair a small pliers I could have almost bought a three piece set and got a free screwdriver.
The 6-1 that I got free is still my favorite one. I use it all the time! Thank you for your comments! I hope you keep coming back!
@@ThatFixItGuy
I paid $10 for my channellock 6-1 , and find it to be a bargain even at that though I bought it specifically for the minor electrical repairs kit I put together and haven't used it a ton.
I currently have 15 or more different pairs of pliers from channellock and can't find fault with any of them.
I recently converted my uncle who has been a self employed plumber for the past 20+ years to blue by buying him a pair of #420.
He was using crappy imported Milwaukee or various big box store brand pliers, and could not believe how much better the channellocks were for about the same money as the fancy looking Milwaukee's.
Wranglerstar was always someone who I respected as a UA-camr compared to everyone else, but he has definitely changed.
He can now be seen acting like one of those elitists who he always said were the reason why he detested internet forums.
That is awesome about hooking your uncle up with some 420s! And I agree. That is like a dream change especially after so long using other type.
I like some of the things he does and I don’t like some of it as well. Wonder if UA-cam Fame has gotten to his head? Lol. I don’t know if UA-cam fame is a real thing! Fake news?
@@ThatFixItGuy
I think it's just what happens to a lot of people when they start to depend on the UA-cam and Amazon affiliate money.
I see him doing things he used to speak against in order to keep viewership up and I understand, but you can't change in such a way and act like you're just as you used to be.
He didn't used to speak like " this more expensive tool is the best ever , btw heres a link where I can get money from you buying it ".
I have to question whether or not he just wants us buying the more expensive tool he can make more money on, I would like to think not but he has me questioning it.
Yeah I question motives as well. It is good to question when we don't know the answers. I always try to look for the good as well. Thanks for the chat Tyler!
