Recently, due to another site rating of the FOL album, the rating was pulled down a little (Metacritic averages the ratings from reliable sites), and is now 2nd behind a boy grp album. Though 91 was the highest ever reached by a kpop album.
Rogue, the beat also sounds like DeBarge's Rhythm of the Night. Along with Lionel Ritchie's All Night Long, these were the two songs I thought of when I first heard Moonlight. FILA gives me a Dua Lipa vibe.

Moonlight was supposed to be part of the "Taste of Love" album (for its Summer vibes) and was the inspiration for their next English bop "Moonlight Sunrise" after the writer was inspired by seeing this song performed Live in Twice's LA Encore. 🥰 Jeongyeon loves this song~ and your probably being reminded by a Michael Jackson track, and yes a bit of Lionel Richie in there, JYP (the Man) loves MJ and music from that era. Dahyun wrote Cruel, Real You & Cactus (inspired by her cactus that died 🤩) by Jihyo, then FILA by Nayeon.

47:28 cactus is actually about a cactus 😭😭 jihyo wrote it after her cactus Angi died because she forgot to water it (the other members made fun of her when they learned that this was the meaning bc they were expecting something deeper😂)
The fact that all of us cried while listening to Cactus (included Twice's members) and after Jihyo revealed that the song was actually about the cactus that she let die is hilarious to me.

The album is named Formula of Love, so it should contain anything and everything that makes up what Love is, the feeling of being in love, the feeling of being out of love, the feeling that comes after love. This album is simply Twice flexing their vocals and how they are no longer the "Bubblegum" pop Girl group everybody thinks they still are. They are grown women and they are singing grown women sheeeet 😂🥰 And we're here for it! 😁😁😁 Their range and flexibility is out of this world!
Formula of Love was the best album of 2021 and basically a double album. They also released Perfect World and Taste of Love in 2021. Once got so much great music in 2021 and Twice followed it up with their 4th world tour which I was lucky enough to see :)

this album truly got it all, the different emotions/vibe from each song it's just perfect!! also a lot of onces didn't get Hello at first but when they performed on tour that hit so hard

In the beginning we even have at least 2 or 3 that we swear are our favorites, but when we listen to the rest of the album these 3 places increase and change position.

Yeah, re-listened to FoL today after a bit of not hearing most of the songs recently, can still say this is one of the best kpop albums to ever exist. Makes me miss last year's tour since it was basically a FoL showcase. You're right though, there's a subtle discopop sound to a lot of the songs, but it's safe to say Twice has that sound nailed down.
As a ballad enjoyer, Cactus is probably one of my favorite ballads, but I'm not gonna lie, I did laugh when I found out it was literally about Jihyo's cactus. I don't know why, but I could imagine this random conversation of Nayeon asking Jihyo what is this song about and then her bursting out into laughter when she finds out. Candy is also a great song, it's basically the song for international Onces, like One in a Million is for Korean Onces and Be As One is for Japanese Onces.
I think the audio for Candy was their live performance during their TWICE 6th Anniversary 'H6ME PARTY with 6NCE'.. 🥰
pretty sure it was a live it sounded different than the album version that I heard the next day on my way to work lol

altho I ADORE all of Twice discography, ICON holds a special place for me, for the simple fact that they have been so humble for all these years, despite CRUSHING the industry with every comeback, they are the most humble group. And for that, they have been looked down upon. So with ICON, I'm glad they decided to call out the haters and say "Know your places in the food chain and STFU".
Regarding the sub-unit song "HELLO". You are right, that wasn't Nayeon, that was MC RAIL (Nayeon's rapper alter-ego) in the flesh. At the same time, it wasn't MOMO rapping in "HELLO", it was Pink Lamborghini (Momo's rapper alter-ego).'
MC Rail needs to be released more often! 🤣 Also I Loooooove Icon it's just soooooo good!

Twice is literally the Gem into kpop, all of their songs is really no skip all of them are so good, a lot of fans in every fanbases saying this is a no skip album, but when it comes to Twice it's so real this album is really top tier no skip, not only about music but Twice is only group i've seen so far that Treat everyone family the relationship with members is really strong also truly love their fans and always 100% just to make sure onces have fun and enjoy the moment. im not into kpop but i only stan one group and that's Twice im super thankful to them, and also thank you for reacting to them, Twice is the best.
fun fact: Jihyo wrote (and direct) 'cactus' which about her own cactus 'auggi' that die. (so sad and so funny at the same time. :P)
and think about this, this album have 4 versions 'study', 'break it', 'explosion', 'full of love', which songs in this album can fit in these categories like 'moonlight' to 'real you' are in 'study' phase, and after that till 'cactus' like 'breakup' or 'goodbye' phase, and in 'explosion' we have 'sub-unit' (which the songs still fit well with album concept, like 'love scenario') and 'full of love' with 'candy'. (and 'scientist' like the conclusion that 'love have no formula')
(and TTT 'soulmate' release in these 'formula of love' era, which also fit well with the concept.(don't worry, you can watch that in your free time, only TWICE's songs already a lot. :D))

For the first time in their career, TWICE's song "ICON" was directly banned by KBS, just bc it had the word "Damn".
"ICON" was not accepted to be played on KBS radio spots bc "the lyrics contain curses and profanity."

Your comparison of Moonlight to Lionel Richie was pretty good, i've always compared it to DeBarge and i've heard others compare it to 80s Michael Jackson and Madonna. Eyes Wide Open was great, who wouldve thought it could be topped.
