He is the brother of Bhanumathi Narasimhan.[4] He was named "Ravi" (a common Indian name which means "sun") because his birth was on a Sunday, and "Shankar" after the eighth-century Hindu saint, Adi Shankara, whose birthday was the same day as Ravi Shankar.[5] Ravi Shankar's first teacher was Sudhakar Chaturvedi, an Indian Vedic Scholar and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi.[6][7] He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the St. Joseph's College of Bangalore University.[8][9] After graduation, Shankar travelled with his second teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,[10] giving talks and arranging conferences on Vedic science, and setting up Transcendental Meditation and Ayurveda centres.[11][12]

मुझे एक बात समझ में नहीं आ रहा है कि भारत में इतने महान महान धर्म गुरु पैदा हुए हैं सबने मिलकर सनातन धर्म की प्राचार प्रसार मे लगे रहते हैं लेकिन
इसके बावजूद सनातन धर्म के मानने वालों की संख्या बढ़ने के बजाय लगातार घटती जा रही हैं आखिर यह कैसे रुकेगा
ऐसे ही होता रहेगा तो सोचो एक बार आज से 500 साल बाद सनातन धर्म के मानने वालों की संख्या में कफी कमी आ जाएगी
क्युकी हमारे सविधान में आर्टिकल 31 डाला गया है की हिन्दू को अपना धर्म पढ़ा ने की छूट नहीं है इसलिए हमारे सनातन को सिखाया नहीं जाता और इसलिए हमें ये भी मालूम नहीं है की हमारे कितने वैद और उपनिषद है लेकिन दुशरी तरफ मदरेसा और मिसनरी को ये छूट दे रखी है वोह सिखाये और गवर्मेंट उसे फण्ड करेगी, मंदिर का चढ़ावा गवर्मेंट लेके इन मदरेसा और मिसनरी को देती है
