I don’t even know if wood as good as you regularly work with is even available in the States. If it is, no one that I know could ever afford to use it. Laminated, sure….it’s used for bench tops and sometimes countertops. But the softwood you access is top of the line precious and unobtainable for the average workman. Terrific work you do!
Reputation in Japan is almost everything. Starting out is hard so being an apprentice is very necessary. After reputation is gained it just becomes a matter of region
What is the model of the makita circular saw you use to make the groove at 11:32? That tool would be very useful as an alternative to a router or table saw with a dado stack.
As always a pleasure to watch your work, highlighting the skills you have attained from a lifetime of craftmanship. Are you able to let me know the model number of the Makita that did the rebate in the box on the tv wall?
Man! My heart rate increased when i say his hand in range of the brad nailer. Then my heart dropped when he shrieked... I was relieved when i realized the shriek was just Shotan realizing his dangerous hand position. Phew!! As a young general contractor and fellow carpenter here in America i'm constantly challenged and inspired every video. Thank you sir for passing this helpful information on to the next generation. Keep up the great work gentlemen.
Well said, mate! As an old general contractor, my thoughts were exactly this. I've seen a lot of injuries over my years that seemed innocent at first glance, yet took just milliseconds to harm at best, ruin the lives of some workers at worst. Even the best of us can make mistakes, so I cast no shade at Shoyan, just honest concern. I love his videos, and want to see many more in the future!
I always enjoy your videos and wish you continued success on your UA-cam channel. And judging by the comments, most of us are from English speaking countries?
I always watch with a student's eye and hope that one day my skills will rise to this level. Always informative and entertaining.
3:56 I've actually shoot through 2 fingers using a pin gun pinning beading to MDF boards ,Shoyan reaction is funny
Scary and funny. I was saying to myself "nooooo"
I've had nails pull a 180 in Douglas Fir --right into a knuckle. I'm very careful where I hold them, now.
Love to see the master using everyday laminated panels, as a ismple but very effective solution.
Excellent, always a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work, thank you for the update.
Such lovely work as always, Shoyan San!
Thank you from Long Beach, California
Excellent job! I adore to watch each episode!
Beautiful job Shoyan. I love watching you work various projects. You explain your process very well. Thank you.
04:11 good to see you have a sense of humour in your work!
I wish I could work on projects like that!

I just like watching him sharpen his pencil with the chisel. 😮
BTW, thanks to the young videographer narrator/translator/apprentice too! Excellent work as always, cheers for all your hard work, buddy. :)
Yes, his narration makes the experience complete.
@h2s142. Son. Could be considered Sin by some, but definitely Son.

Excellent job as usual Shoyan.👍👍
First-rate craftsmanship. Bravo!
I'd be interested to know how your father gets work? How does someone hire your father? How does he get all these fantastic carpentry jobs?
Reputation in Japan is almost everything. Starting out is hard so being an apprentice is very necessary. After reputation is gained it just becomes a matter of region

Beautiful work
Another fantastic work of art😊😊😊

Thank you for your positive content. Younger people really can look up to this precision
Quite a nice job. Thank you for sharing.
Most enjoyable.
absolutely outstanding! well done. 👍🏻
Nice
Good job!!!
are all Japanese carpenters, so skilled?
They don't give out the word 'master' that easily, 20 years is apprentice level, if you have 40 years under your belt then you can be called master
So talented!
2:00 does every Japanese carpenter put mayonnaise on their toekicks? Weird.
:)
Thanks
Always a pleasure to watch!
Looking good Mr Shoyan san 👍
this guy is too good with his tools
I don't care much for the woodworking.. but the pencil sharpening is something else! 😁 @2:55
Beautiful as always.

What a good job! I would love to know what that square you use to cut along side with the circular saw? The hand held 2 foot square. Keep it up!
Me too!
