The U.S. Census Bureau estimated the U.S. population to be approximately 341 million, a 0.35% increase compared to the previous year, and projections indicate the population will continue to expand not only through 2024 but for at least the next several decades. However, population growth is not uniform across all 50 states. Some states saw significant increases in population, while others saw a population decline.
The U.S. Census Bureau's data show that the most significant population growth occurred throughout the South and West regions of the country. Each region recorded an increase of 0.77% and 0.45%, respectively. However, not all states in these regions saw growth.
To compile our list of the Fastest Growing States in the US, we utilized the US Census Bureau database of state-wise population change. We have ranked the states based on the 2010 to 2023 population change and have also listed their current population in their description. Our list ranks the states in ascending order of their population change.

Fastest growing states are: Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, and Washington in the west, while the most southeastern states have rapid growth are: Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and even Kentucky. States with population decline are: Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Iowa.
