Troy is a great guy I’ve always thought he was the superhot king and was underrated and the true creator of the Carolina Reaper and Ed Currie stole the pepper from him I would like to meet him and be a student of his
27:58 this is what I tell ppl all the time peppers are like cannabis there’s more that one capsaicinoid just like there’s more than one cannabinoid and the Scoville test only test for capsaicin and that’s it and red peppers are naturally higher in capsaicin than chocolate peppers but every real chili head knows the chocolate variant burns way more violent than the red pods that’s because chocolate pods are higher in other capsaicinoids than that red pods are lower in and that’s why the red peppers always test higher in the Scoville test
Love the pepper nerdy chat! I found Primo through the Superhot show, but definitely a fan and can't wait to grow some of his peppers here in Canada!! Primo Army, I'm in.
Hearing his stories and the progress he has made is very inspiring. It is something special to be able to share true knowledge learned from years of experience. Thank you Shaun & Troy!
Even if you never mentioned chillis, I think Troy would be a cool dude to hang with. I appreciate the effort you put in Shaun - watched this whilst your CC piri piris and Sugar rush seeds are sitting in cold tea!
30:12 supposedly a guy I won’t name has created a pepper that’s mustard that he’s been claiming is the next worlds hottest pepper and he claims it’s average numbers quote blow the reapers peak numbers out of the water end quote and quote it’s peak numbers blow the Chocolate Primotali’s peak numbers out of the water end quote and that he’s been spending tens of thousands of dollars having this mustard pepper tested by Guinness for over a year now supposedly it takes multiple rounds of testing and each round cost like $10,000-$20,000 or something I told him that ppl have been saying Guinness doesn’t even accept submissions for worlds hottest pepper anymore cuz of the Carolina reaper controversy but I told him I’ll believe it when I see it that he’s pepper is just like pepper x it’s BS and I’ll never believe a mustard pepper will hold the record for worlds hottest pepper that that would be like a yellow or white pepper holding the record
Troy is a personal friend of mine here in Lafayette, known him for almost 30 years. He's as authentic as he seems in this video. One of the best guys you will ever meet.
Awesome interview, loved it on the livestream but nice to watch this full interview. Looking forward to the next part. Would love more of this sort of video.
Best genetics I've grown regarding this "pepper". I grew Reapers in the past, nothing consistent. Growing Primo's ...so many amazing tails! I'll only grow seeds from Troy!
This is an awesome reminder of how enjoyable an opportunity it is when two very fine pepper growers come together in a free ranging conversation Shaun! And I must also add that Troy will also go way out of his way to get products to your door! Really looking forward to Growing 2023! Stay Spicy! -Bob... PS: Am forcing myself to hold off on digging out trays, containers etc lol
One of the most enjoyable interviews I have watched in a long while, regardless of subject(s). Thank you to you both and I can't wait for Part 2. P.S. If this interview doesn't encourage the viewers to get out there and start getting into the chilli community then nothing will!
I need some isolated 7 pot Primo seeds I have a lot of superhot seeds but no 7 pot Primo seeds which I’m certain is the reason the Carolina Reaper exists either Ed Currie just grew the 7 Pot Primo and called it the Carolina Reaper or he grew the 7 pot Primo and crossed it with something else and called that the Carolina Reaper
I have a couple of 7 Pot Primos they are already germinated with theyre 4th set of true leaves i planted 5 of these because these are the next pepper up from my heat level. I LOVE the look of these peppers as well, i hear they produce alot so this year most of my hot sauces will be 7 Pot Primo Peppers! Im super excited!😁
My favorite pepper of all time is the Big Mustard Mama, a creation of Troy Primeaux. “Piments forts de Montérégie” here in Quebec, Canada sells isolated twelfth generation seeds of this wonder!
I remember him back in the day with Chris, Joe, Neil, and on and on. It started on the The Hot Pepper. I recall the saga. The people were reeling when Ed was making his claims, he got a lot of criticism. I dropped out of Chili World for 10 years, because of the nonsense. I made Gentlemen's Burn(Peter pepper x red congo) and the T-breaker. It is Mouruga Scorpion from the record holder at the time ( after he took the Butch T record) x Maldivian heart. I am still making my stuff here in Korea, on my own, in private. Keeping my powder dry for the future. I do have some stuff that might surprise. I do have Pepper X (Korean allegedly) growing here right now, due to a Korean seller breaking his agreement, I think. I have C115 and am planning to do a few new crosses this summer for fun. I am collaborating with a local farmer on some stuff. Taste is more important to me, if you try T-breaker cross yourself, you'll like it for your sauces. Vanilla. Smoke the peppers with cherry wood, go good with naga. Best Naga is from Matt Le Gal in France, imo. I think Douglah is good too. I made a sauce with apple vinegar, mouraga, ginger, turmeric, savory, thyme, persimmon, pear, and apple. My recipes are on The Hot Pepper- BootsieB
Great interview I would love to see more content on crossing peppers. I’m really into crossing a different kind of skunky plant and had great success selecting my own variety over the years and now starting last year I’ve gotten really into peppers. I can’t wait for this years season and to see your crosses! Thanks for the inspiration!

@@ChilliChump Yes I watch all your videos, the one showing the process is really well done, keep it up. I plan on ordering the 2023 seed kit too. Really interested in growing the peppadew. I think my main focus is creating an improved habanero but I’m still new to pepper growing so I’m still experimenting with varieties and flavors that I like. Biquinho, aji charapita, some super hots and a handful of rare seeds that I got from Chone hot sauce are also on the list this year
I really enjoyed spending this time chatting with Troy. He is a fascinating man! I will be releasing the rest of the interview over the next few days.
can you get that resting data from biolabs and share it with the rest of us?
Is Pt 2 available yet?
Will be out on Monday or Tuesday next week

Most likely Monday/Tuesday. Got my livestream on sunday

yay 7 pot primo is one of my new varities to grow this year, the seeds only came yesterday, can't wait to try it.

This is a FANTASTIC interview. Thanks for posting this up 🤘🏻
I didn't see it was a part one...😭😭
Not long to wait before part 2!
Troys a legend and a great guy to deal with 😁 I've grown the Primo and BBM in NZ for many years and got a heap down this year 🔥🐉🌶 rock on Primo 😎 🤟
A friend gave me some BBM from his work wow they are crazy hot. Was a place out of Christchurch I believe it closed down though.
I promise not give your seeds away while you have them for sale Troy 😂.
Have had many Primo's and I am impressed every time! Best grower there is.
I love this interview!!! Troy is a great guy, and now I know he is also a nurse!! Im a nurse as well and love my job.

wish troy sold his official seeds on his site sadly his store is always out of stock I like to get seeds from the source
I have an agreement with Troy and will be selling seeds grown from trips latest cultivar. Shared profit will go back to Troy.
@@ChilliChump oh that's excellent. I will have to check it out thank you!
this plant is interesting from botanical perspective, but similar to many other superhots i consider it not edible :)

This was awesome
The 7 pot primo is the true hottest pepper. The "reaper" is just one of these imo!
Also just ordered primo seeds 🤣
Word on the pepper streets is the Reaper was created from the 7 Pot Primo.
