A big thank you goes to everyone who kept Tegel running. And to the architects, who have achieved a remarkable achievement. They have created a building that is deeply rooted in the hearts of Berliners and beyond.
It is amazing that a building that is closed and its use is discontinued triggers such emotions, touches hundreds of thousands of people all over the world deeply and even makes them cry. A masterpiece of the two architects and their team, they can be proud of it.
    My Congratulations.
Thank you TXL - I will never forget you.

@@UmairActorModel Tegel is very very old. It was built during the Soviet era of Berlin. Recently, the “new” Brandenburg airport finally opened, meaning that the rundown Tegel has no use anymore and most airlines would choose to go to Brandenburg
Correction: When I said Soviet era of Berlin, I should've been more specific. What I mean was that it was the fact that is was built when the soviets still controlled East Berlin shows how old it is (even though it wasn't in East Berlin)

Also other Airports have been closed and replaced by a new one: Munich Riem in the year 1992 and Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong in the year 1998. But I think these airports haven't been so unique and so it was not so emotional. However - TXL was special and will always have a place in my heart.

In the last few weeks ahead of the closure, I went there every day. I spend basically the whole last weekend at the airport, I am actually surprised I didn't run into one of you guys.

Went there too on saturday to say goodbye - it was very emotional. I was considering booking the last Lufthansa flight on the A350 as well, but decided against it due to the rising numbers of Covid-infections in Germany. I kind of regret that decision now, but at least I will be able to watch your tripreport, which I’m really looking for!

Thank you TXL. The small, ingenious airport finally had its last day on 08.November. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and that you have been the uncontrolled gateway to freedom for us in (West) Berlin. Although I live on the edge of the approach lane, I will miss you: I will miss the first plane that took off shortly after 6 o clock in the morning (and that has been my second alarm clock, so to speak - although not very loud), the brilliant architecture (congratulations to the architects), the wonderful memories. I will never forget my first flight from 1982. I was 16 - it was a short flight in a British Airways BAC 1-11 aircraft (called Super One Eleven) from Berlin to Hanover. It went back a few days later in the British Airways Boeing 737-200. Many more flights followed. With a small tear in my eyes I say bye bye and thank you TXL, you've been a part of my life. I will miss you,. ---- >> Some day I will land at BER, but I will never arrive there.
