Hey. Would you happen to know who they used to install their pellet stove? I just finished a dome 30 mins from that one, and I would love to install one. Thanks in advance.
I must say, your journey into creating these luxury geodome experiences is truly fascinating! Your dedication to understanding every aspect of your craft, from design to construction, is inspiring. What has been the most unexpected or unique challenge you've encountered while working on your geodome projects, and how did you overcome it?
I agree! The cost of building a glamping geodome can vary widely depending on several factors, including the location, size, materials, amenities, and whether you choose to purchase a pre-built geodome or build one from scratch. Each geodome project is unique, and the challenges faced can vary based on location and design. The key is to plan carefully, use quality materials, and have contingency plans in place to address unexpected weather conditions effectively.

Hey Rob, I'm a licensed and insured electrician with my own small company. I'm located in Newport, right outside of Gatlinburg. Most of my work over the last ten years has been in Gatlinburg or pigeon forge. If you ever need work done let me know man. Quality work for a fair price always I love the content you put out
WOW....I stayed at Vero Mountain (this geodome) in March. I was blown away by what the owners (Chris and Tom) and Alex had accomplished. Building on the side of a hill is never easy but no expense was spared. I wish them continued success.
4:30 Hey Rob! Great video. I’m the social media manager for Vero Mountain. Just wanted to mention that if you need any of these curtain rods for your domes in Gatlinburg, I can put you in touch with the designer! Justin Clark, a welder-fabricator from Mars Hill NC came up with the idea, design, and finished product of these custom curtain rods for the owners of Vero Mountain! It was also his idea to curve them to the dome for more floor space 😊 I’ll let him know how much you liked them!
Hi Jess, I'm working on a Dome project just outside of Yosemite and would be very interested in Justin's information, if you'd be willing to share. Thank you!
@@tomseditajr2004 my msgs back to you disappear, but basically if you msg the owner of Vero Mountain through the link Rob included I’ll get it and we can connect

Portable A/C and not a mini split? The difference is so great with the noise. I had a portable a/c before I got my mini split system and it's way way too loud. For that kind of nightly rate they should have a better/quieter A/C
Good stuff. Blueridge has got some very cool setups. Watched his videos while we were getting ours built and setup. 2 months in and we've been at 80% occupancy as well. Appreciate the videos guys
I’m staying here in tranquility right now! I was just casually looking up how much a dome typically costs & went straight to your video. my husband and I were slowly realizing- “wait a second… that looks like the place were at… omg we’re there rn!!”
One aspect to these geodesic dome's is that if two or three people sleep in them with everything closed up tight your breathing will add a lot of humidity and if it is cold outside you will wake up to wet walls everywhere from the condensation. If it gets really cold you will wake up to condensation dripping on your face. If you eat in there you will wake up to mice and they will chew through that canvas to get inside. You can do a lot to help keep the bugs out but you will probably not succeed. Spider bites are very common. I lived in one of these and also the canvas goes to hell in a matter of years. And that pretty see-through acrylic will also go to hell in very short order if the sun shines on it. These things are super cute when you first install them and they turn into a piece of crap in very short order. Also be careful with your jurisdiction as you are supposed to have a permit for the deck and any plumbing and in California you will get busted and you will have to tear it all down. I specialize in off grid power systems and I know about 15 people who have been busted by the county and they had to remove them and their Airbnb investment Went to shit overnight.
My friends did an Airbnb with these things in the Santa Barbara area and they got busted for the deck. They blew off the county and the county came back and gave them notice that they would have to pay $1000 per day in fines if they didn't remove it. my girlfriend was making $10,000 per month on Airbnb and her income went to zero for this very reason.
@user-ke9yk5qp3u wow what a bummer, that's discouraging. Yeah, southern California is the worst for permitting anything. Even a simple wood frame for some solar panels, my friend had to pay $1500 in permits just to be able to place it on his own land.
Wow what timing. I was looking at one of those domes for a glamping site that I'm building. I'm super curious about items that create heat, that are close to the walls (the fireplace, toaster) if they'll eventually damage the walls? Also want to know how long that material lasts and what kind of upkeep is to be expected.
Great video, loved you gave realistic, prices . Thank You But I noticed the film over the windows looked a little flimsy , didn't sit well in that beautiful room . Maybe use a thicker ply of plastic or something .
I want to build one in Colorado in the mountains at an elevation of 6,000 - 9,000 feet. I am trying to figure out how to run plumbing and dealing with winter to avoid freezing pipes.
And also in your area there is a good chance you're gonna need a permit for that plumbing and the deck. My friends got busted for doing it and they ended up having to rip everything out after spending many thousands of dollars. I lived in one for five years in the mountains of Santa Barbara. so they are pretty cool in a moderate climate. Yours is a whole different story. Also be careful of the condensation buildup on the inside because if you breathe and sleep in them for a period of time you will wake up and everything is wet from condensation.
@robuilt You should come see ours in Grundy county TN, it's 30' and on Airbnb. On a huge deck overlooking a pond. Honestly, I think ours is better laid out, more open, with a full kitchen including stove, a bigger shower/bathroom, etc. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to our listing but if you reply to this saying it's ok, I will.
I don’t believe he spent close to 250,000 for the set up of the dome the deck and the interior, that’s insane! My family has stayed in similar set ups as this and they paid a quarter of that price I don’t understand even if he did pay that much and he’s not exaggerating the price why would you pay that much ? I’m sorry just doesn’t seem right to me.
He probably did, these guys just have more money than they know what to do with so they throw it at tiny homes instead of actual houses. $80,000 for a deck is ridiculous, you could build an actual 800sqft house with that much in North Carolina if you did a lot of the work yourself. Piles $5,000, Lumber $10,000, Labor $7,000, equipment rental $3,000. He should be at $25,000 at the most for a deck. 6x6x16 pressure treated lumber is only $60-$70 each. Even if they needed 50 of them, that is only $3,500, plus extra for decking and other things which should cost less.
In general, this Airbnb thing is screwing up local neighborhoods because the investors who think they are going to make a ton of money really do not give a shit about the local community.
This isn’t the us, this is just rich people. You definitely already know that. Most people don’t have money to throw at a glorified tent in any country

How about permits for the deck and in California, do they allow it? Lot's of the most important questions are unanswered.

20-30K for a dome kit sounds rather expensive. Online retailers like glamping done store sells 23 ft kit for just 8,240😮
