    Thank you for your videos, I subscribed to your channel a few months ago and it really helped me out. My wife is from Sinaloa and we have been married for 17 years and have a 14 year old son. I plan on retiring in Mexico early when he graduates from high school and goes to college. So I needed to get residency for Mexico. I already got him duel citizenship about 5 years ago. I found out at the consulate whenever I went that if I used my wife I would have to first apply for temporary residency, but going through him I would automatically qualify for permanent residency. So I went that route and we just got back from Mexico City 3 days ago. We stayed in Polanco and went to that INM office. It was easy there also you just have to be ready to spend all day waiting for the process. We arrived at 4:30am and didn’t leave until 3:30pm that afternoon with my permanent residence card in hand. I did like you recommended and to extra copies of everything, including a lot of stuff they never even asked me for. So I just wanted to tell you thanks for the help.

    Hello, just came across your Part 1 video Mexican Consulate and want to thank you for briefly covering the types of questions they ask, as it seems not many people seem to cover that part of the topic!
    As I watch this video, I have a question for you about 5:25 when you talk about needing to provide apostilled and translated documents. I've heard mixed information about this: some caution to get the documents translated and apostilled while still in one's home country, while others say the apostille can be done but the translation part MUST be done in Mexico.
    Kindly share what you know about this detail. Thanks!

      Hi Keiko! While apostilles can be completed and mailed to any location in the world [as you usually can mail them in with a pre-posted & pre-addressed return envelope], it may be best to get them completed in your home country and travel with them to Mexico; that way it avoids potentially getting lost in transit. And as far as the translation goes, it has to be completed by a Mexican government-recognized translator [often referred to as a perito tranductor]. Can this be completed outside of Mexico? The answer is yes. It may be a game of hide-and-seek however. But I can confirm that clients of mine have gotten their apostilled documents successfully translated outside of Mexico by Peritos who live and work abroad. I hope that helps!

      @@MixedinMexico Thank you from one "mixed chick" to another! We will make sure we get the documents apostilled ASAP then. If all goes well at our appointment, we'll be traveling at the end of March!
      We were long-time WA residents, so we'll ask if they can take care of these docs, or if maybe where we are now (AZ) can do it.

    Thank you for sharing your experience! I have a question regarding the temporary residency visa. I just got it but I don’t’t know if the information in it is correct. On the right of the birth date, there is a 3-digit country code. Does it refer to the nationality or the place of birth ? Thank for your replay in advance!

    We just got the Mexican Visa but just wondering if we have to present all the documents again in order to get the ID card at the INM?

    Hello! I love your videos. I completed the first step of my temporary residency application at the consulate in the US, received my residency sticker, and will be going to Mexico in a week. I applied for the temporary residency at the consulate by being married to a Mexican. For my trámite, do I choose the Cambio a residente permanente temporal por vinculo familiar or Expedición de Documento Migratorio por Canje
    / Formato para solicitar trámite migratorio de estancia? Thank you!

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi @ adamking8515 Congrats on completing the first step! 🥳 That's awesome! As far as which tramite to fill out, because you'll have to notify customs upon entry of your purpose of visiting (to complete residency process) and after which they'll check Canje on your entry FMM...it would be my assumption that INM would want you to fill out and sign the tramite "Expedición de Documento Migratorio por Canje"
      Because they are relatively similar [as far as the information to fill out and the time it takes to do so] I would fill out, print and sign BOTH [the above mentioned tramite, as well as the "Cambio de condition a residente temporal por vinculo familiar"] that way you are prepared either way and wont have to make multiple trips because if it.
      As added/extra reassurance [depending on which INM location you attend], when you go in to make your appointment, you can go to the information counter and verify which is the correct tramite your particular office prefers.
      I hope that helps! Let us know how it goes! We're rooting for you!!

      Thank you so much, Aaliyah. I was browsing your website and wanted to inquire if you can recommend legitimate services for someone to wait in line to make an appointment at the CDMX INM office? Do you all facilitate this service as well? Thank you!

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  7 місяців тому

      Hey Adam! I do not. I offer personalized immigration assistance & consultations. I do not (as of yet) know anyone in Mexico City who could facilitate that service for you. If it helps any, when I made my initial appointment at INM, I had to have all my supporting documentation on me otherwise they wouldn’t make the appointment. The person behind the desk did verify that I was the actual applicant; but in Mexico where there’s a “will” there’s a way. lol I’m sure there is someone who can get the service accomplished. (They may need your supporting paperwork when doing so.) I just don’t know of anyone yet. I hope that helps!

    Question: I'm married to a Mexican National and went down to the INM office in Hermosillo Sonora. They gave me a temporary resident visa for only a year. She told us that for the first time it's only for a year but I heard if your married to a Mexican National it's for 2 years. Did they pull a fast one on us? Thanks!

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  11 місяців тому

      Hi @sjcali04 I am also married to a Mexican National. Every INM office is different in what "rules" they tend to follow, so it's difficult to say for certain. But my experience [with my first go around] at the INM office, I was offered up to 4 years of temporary residence to start, being married to a citizen, but I opted for 2 years. If you want to hear that story, I've linked a video of my experience down below. I hope that helps!

    Do you have WhatsApp or Fb messenger? I got my visa at the Vegas consulate (through my Mexican son). My question is - do I really need my birth certificate apostilled? ( I was born in the Philippines but became a naturalized US citizen). I am asking because that will be a huge process since it will come from the Philippines.

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  7 місяців тому

      Hi @Maya-uy2xx What every INM office allows for may be different. I would check with your particular office, if you desire to skip the hassle. When I attained my residency through familial ties, I needed my foreign long-form birth certificate apostilled & translated (with copies, of course); but I have heard of individuals at other offices not requiring it. It all depends; so I always er on the side of caution. I hope that helps!

    When should you fill out your application form ? How many days prior to arriving into Mexico ?

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  Рік тому

      Hey Maritza! The application, after being filled out and printed, is valid for a total of 90 days; so as long as you attend your INM appointment within 90 days of filling out the application, you should be just fine. I believe all tramites/apps expire from their online database automatically every 90 days. I hope that helps! 😊👍🏽
