Go watch part 1 ( • Exploring a Solar Syst... ) and 2 ( • I Recreated our Solar ... ) and 3 ( • Adding Multiplayer to ... )
This video feels more eclectic than the last few, there wasn't really a main central through-line. Like sure I can say it was about adding details but that just means like, adding stuff right, I mean could've been anything just call it a detail, idk. I need that fishing minigame so that this can be a real indie game. Also I need to think of ways to stop recreating Outer Wilds, I swear I try to do anything original and then it just warps back into Outer Wilds because it turns out they were already doing it that way for a good reason. Anyway hopefully I get like a solid game progression going soon. I'm thinking like you make your way through a few solar systems and have to buy a ticket to the next one each time. Oh and I gotta add a time limit mechanic somewhere a la supernova in Outer Wilds or the quota in Lethal Company. So I'll keep brainstorming on that. Okay thanks for reading this. Unless you DIDN'T read it and skipped right to this last bit. That's okay though you don't have to go back and read it I forgive you. Okay bye.

Thank you Khasehemwy for making that very cool Godot pull request: github.com/godotengine/godot/... - Ігри
5:40 graphical tear game literally unplayable video literally unwatchable i hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me
the sun having a dyson sphere is neat
thanks! I thought so too, hoping to actually add some content to explore along the surface of its panels in the future
add lava fishing too
That's a good idea, could be an upgrade to the fishing rod!
@@xen-42 Play Dredge
@@xen-42 and then the biggest upgrade: black hole fishing
In theme of the recent solar eclipse, here's a random idea: A tidally-locked planet where its moon's orbital period is tuned in a way so that one side of the planet is in eternal solar eclipse, if that can be done? I think tuning it may be a little jank
thats a fun idea! theres definitely a way to tweak the planets orbits and gravity to make that possible and have the moon just sit at the L2 lagrange point, I think
Things are looking great! Spectacular game dev so far!
Thank you! It really is starting to take shape I think
Game ideas
Make it so your ship door can be closed, this can trap oxygen and you can breathe in your ship. Speaking of which, you can also make the ship better and maybe even add upgrades. Or maybe have different ships you can buy. Like for example, a moon grabber with long limbs that grab small objects (probably a crazy ship idea)
Add some tools and structures like maybe idk a terraformer, or maybe multiple terraforming tools like a core reheater and an atmospheric generator. That way you have to see what the planet needs to be habitable.
Make some other star systems that all orbit a galactic core which basically makes a galaxy. The galactic core in particular can be pretty much anything. Add a few more galaxies and basically make a universe. The goal of the game is pretty much up to you
Crazy as the moon grabber idea was, I was thinking of maybe doing something like that with asteroids, just for fun. Terraforming and making a whole galaxy are interesting but definitely push the scope, it's really tempting to just keep adding more wild and wacky things to the game but I do gotta reign it in I think. I loved doing the terraforming and galactic exploration in Spore so its really tempting
@@xen-42I just realized, what would pandora look like on outer wilds (the habitable moon with the blue guys)
oh this is sick!!! dang now I realize I should post about my little space game more : 3
you should!!
holy crap this looks so cool
I'm happy you think so!
Cool stuff man 👍
Thank you!
im looking forward to seeing more devlogs, and more broll and more of this awesome project.
i just wanted to point out that (for now in its early state) the multiplayer isn't incetiviced much, maybe making it so exiting the planets is harder and it is required (or recommended) to have someone pilot the ship on one of those dangerous planets who can pick you up if something goes south (lethal company teleportation style but controlled by a human) could be nice. or some other thigs so the multiplayer is meaningful :))
Yeah I should definitely do more with it to make it an integral part of the experience. I'm a bit nervous to go all in on multiplayer because since its an indie game I feel I need to have the game really stand on its own as singleplayer to make sure I actually get enough people interested in it. I just need to find a balance between making sure playing alone is fun but then also add in all these extra multiplayer mechanics. One thing that you can already do thats pretty fun is have one player fly the ship while the other player uses the grappling hook to cling onto it while it flies through space. A teleporter is a great idea as well, and so is keeping one person onboard the ship to help evacuate the team if needed. Thanks for the feedback!
@@xen-42 That's really cool! Those interactions make the game super fun :)
And i totally get it, also multiplayer development is hard, even more if your's is a physics based game, so i don't blame you if you focus in having a good singleplayer experience.
In the end, if this is not your job, do whatever makes you feel like the game will be funnier, is your baby and you should mold it to your liking!
Good luck, i'll keep a close eye to see what you do around here 👁️👁️❤️
Looks awesome, very inspiring that you're working on this. As an aspiring game dev myself it can be hard to find motivation. Nice job on everything you've done so far!
Since you asked at the end of the video, personally I don't like fetch quests. I hope you end up coming up with a way to at least phrase it in a more exciting way. Consider making the quests have some narrative meaning to them. Or consider trying to intice the player into making the journey without being explicitly told to, like Outer Wilds. But then again, it does say "space delivery service" in the thumbnail, so take my criticism with a grain of salt.
Yeah I get what you mean on the fetch quests. I'd hope to have them be a way of getting the player to go between planets, and then on each planet they'll then find some more interesting narrative focused quests to do, and then maybe those quests will end up taking them between planets (and they can carry a new delivery with them on to the next world). So definitely want it to really be a side thing and have narrative stuff be the main focus
New xen video 😲
new megapiggy comment!
psx art style my beloved
its like making a trendy pixel art indie game but in 3d!
Maybe you could add combat or missions to destroy enemy ships. The storyline could have this oppressive alien race enslaving another, so your mission is to liberate all of the planets, and slowly upgrade and survive!
combat really is tempting, I'd love to rocket jump from one planet to another
This looks pretty nifty.
Thank you!
This is looking great so far! Definitely the sort of game I'd wanna check out.
Also, please, I'm begging you: keep the hurt sound effect, it's too good.
Glad you like the game! I could probably record a few more oof ouch sounds and have a little variety at least so its not just OW over and over
I'vbe been working on a space game too!
I like what I see
I'm happy to hear it!
Yo you planning to release this to steam any time soon? This seems like a lot of work and hours!
My goal is to get a demo out this year for steam next fest! Since its my first time making a project of this scale tho I'm not sure how long it'll take
wow.. how did u make the planets? we need a tutorial!
I have a tutorial for setting up the physics of the planets! ua-cam.com/video/I5sBtTfBTyY/v-deo.html
