A lightbox is a fun little project. It is great for Arts and crafts and particulary for tracing. The surface gives off a bright light so you can place a paper on it and trace it.
This is a tutorial showing you how to make a cheap and easy Lightbox for artwork, photography and tracing. It uses LED’s for a bright and even lighting. Fun little project and you just need a few basic supplies.
I show you step by step how to make it. And I have a web tutorial with links to the exact LED’s and power supply that I use.
The web tutorial is on my site here:
    www.stormthecastle.com/how-to-...
Affiliate links to the products Will uses:
The spool of LED Lights: amzn.to/2fCG6r4
    The power supply:amzn.to/2fxrdHI
    The acrylic sheets: amzn.to/2c1X4j0
Need foam board? Amazon has it here: amzn.to/2fxfwku
My favorite Hot Glue Gun: amzn.to/2eKu2GG
    Will uses the #1 X-acto knife: amzn.to/2fxjDwN

He made an inexpensive and practical way to build a light box that costs anywhere from 45 - 300 dollars and people had the nerve to dislike the video. I question this sometimes! well anyway. Good job! Thanks!

I made mine, I tweaked it a bit, I used a picture frame & instead of using the LED strips I used some little LED flashlights I had hanging around (no wiring) I won't be using the lightbox for extended hours so it works perfectly, I just turn them off when I'm done. thanks for the project.

My daughter and I made one this afternoon. I did think it would go faster, but it took about 3 hours to get it all done and ready to go. That said, the lighting piece was by FAR the easiest thing we did - cutting all that foam board was tedious. Once I changed the blade on my Xacto knife, though, things went much smoother. :)
Thanks for posting - it was a great project and I'm excited to see what she does with it!

Now I can make this and add perspective to my doodles thanks. Looking forward to the paper making. This was super helpful. I'm doing an algebra one "linescapes" project and your supposed to make a drawing that represents you and if you get an award for one of the categories your grade gets boosted up. So I said hey i can shade decently so my objective is to go for the realistic award but i don't have a light box but this video basically saved me. Thank you so much for this affordable tutorial.

    Foam board ! Fun Project!
Las week I have made one for my wife. But I used Masonite (acrylic and LED strips), not bad, but I had to have it cut in my hardware store.
Foam board is easily cut with just an Xacto knife...
I shall try foam board for my own!!

Hey thanks for the tutorial, man! I've been drawing for a few years, but I've never had one of these before. I anticipate it'll greatly improve the quality of my drawings. In my personal experience of having a go at making this, though, I found that a little bit of strong tape at the corners and edges of the box in addition to the glue REALLY helps hold it together even better. Makes it look a little less professional, but hey, I'm showing off my art, not the box, eh?

indeed. just came to me as I was watching this. I'm a drafter, by education, so anything that would be useful for old school t-square on paper is something I'd consider. Foamboard, as handy as it is, isn't quuuuite up to the challenge of holding drafting equipment. Most drafting tools like triangles are clear, and the light would shine through them, as well, which would make lining up circle templates and the like quite easy.
