Finally! A car reviewer with similar height as me. Hope he will review some compact cars too.
This van is a decent size but Edd makes it look rather cramped in the cabin, being so tall..... a bit like an old Bedford Rascal or a Suzuki Carry.

Nice vans and they are nice to drive too. Only problem I had with the older one was turbo lag. The 1.6 engine could not boost the turbo quick enough, which means getting away quickly at junctions could be troublesome. Glad to see a 170bhp engine option too to keep up with the transit custom.
I don't want to get stuck in the Trafic in the traffic.
Currently on my 3 rd Trafic since 2003, current van a 115 dci sport faultless 212k no faults no breakdowns been totally exemplary, Will be changing this year for yet another Trafic.
Am watching this vid as on my second 115 dci and thinking of upgrading. My first 115 gave up it’s clutch at 137,000 miles so got rid of it at that point. My current one gave up its clutch at 97,000 - I replaced the clutch (£1200) and it’s going like a beauty (touch wood). Aside of the clutches they have both been amazing and loved them. I’m not sure I can afford this latest model but I’m not confident the 2014 onwards 1.6 will feel like much of an improvement.
Your advice : manual or automatic gear ?
I would dig a six speed manual with the big passenger mirror. Living the life!

I'm willing to bet that more people watch this stuff than actually watch wheeler dealers on actual TV these days.

Edit to add, now Chris Harris is on topgear, no one sees anything he does, because no one watches TV anymore, I don't know anyone who actually watches top gear now, so Chris Harris jumping to TV means less than half the viewers he used to have just messing about online.

4 yr wty? LCV models are covered by a warranty package for up to 3 years from date of first registration with unlimited mileage during the first 24 months, then limited to a total of 100,000 miles or 3 years whichever comes first.

A wide angle mirror in the passenger sun visor is an option? That sounds to be the most ridiculous thing ever. Why not just have a wide angle mirror attached to the door mirror, like on most other vans?
Um Ed, do you work as Renault salesman now? The interior plastics had got worse when they made the 2014 model, the black door/cab panels scratch very easily now. the wide view interior mirror IS fitted in my 2017 model, . And the phone holder, the nokia 3110 isn't in vogue now, so make a holder that'll take a Smartphone please😃 how have they not changed that!
Colour coded Bumper, front only BTW. Great an auto is available now.

Put the middle seat down and there is a coffee cup holder that will fit your cup

What about thoes injectors. They tell there own story on the older vans has these vans got the same issue

Seems to be a lot of problems with this van as far as I can see. There’s a bunch of these vans on our job. The bog standard 1.6 model. Most of them have had to be brought away to be fixed. I’m hearing the lads are constantly topping up engine oil. There’s problems with the adblue system and the dash says get it fixed before so many kilometres or else it goes into limp mode until it’s fixed. Someone said running the adblue tank low is the cause of that problem. Latest problem I’m hearing now is the fan belt breaking, that’s happened on several vans around the same time last few weeks. When these vans get parked there is fans roaring like a jet engine (in cold weather). Lads are saying the 2018 model has more grunt.
so i drove both this and the transit custom back to back for equal time - 6 months total. The transit was horrible - gear change was like a revolver and felt like the gearstick was ready to snap off in my hands. It was lound, crampled and plasticky compared with the renault. Was I driving a duff transit. It was hired through northgate?
My borther owns one from 2016, used his van often at times and its really nice to drive, I prefer driving his van than driving my own car lol
As builders we have enough trouble and headaches from work we do not need a bad van

I have a 2005 Trafic, L1H2, 1.9 dci (168000 miles) and a 2014 Vivaro L2H2, 2.0 litre diesel (100000miles), the older Trafic is by far a better vehicle.
Love my 2018 traffic. We got a pre reg for 15k plus vat for the sport in grey. Now just going to get a 2020 spirt in black. They are thin on the ground in certain colours due to corona. Love the traffic and its coming in 10k less than a like for lije transporter!
Love the Renault trafic, wish they would bring it to the US with just a little more luxury or even a camper version, it would sell like hot cakes!
We hire alot of vans at work.I've drove the new traffic for a month and the vivaro for longer.As vans they are ok but the new shape ford transit is far better.
In what ways do you consider the Transit to be better? Personally I found the Traffic much smoother and easier to drive, while the Transits I've driven had more jerky drivetrains which made driving quite tiresome.

Oliver Standing Have seem the size of him? That’s probably a 3 litre flask. Pretty sure the guy is a giant. He looks huge in that cab. I have a new Trafic Sport and there’s soo much room and I’m nigh-on 6’ tall. 😂

*Issues with the 2017 Renault Trafic* (Not fixed in current version?)
Turn indicators will not turn off until the steering wheel is returned to almost straight ahead.
Steering wheel controls for Radio and BlueTooth are terrible! Buttons on Top, Bottom, Back and Side of stalk.
Reverse Gear is way too tall. Riding the clutch is mandatory when reversing.
Centre Console is too intrusive. Just a gear knob and cup holder should take up less room.
Seating position is off-set to the steering wheel. Long drives will make you a cripple !!!
No adjustment for passenger seating at all. (Bolted in and Fixed)

Unbelievable fuel economy. I currently run at 6.1lt per 100km. That's 47MPG (1.6 single turbo Diesel. 66kw)
Masses of space. I can fit three dirt bikes, 2 large 1500mm tool boxes and enough camping gear for a full weekend.
Plenty of grip from the Michelin Tyres.
Great budget friendly Van when compared to he competition.
I am curious about the 2020 nissan e-nv 200 kombi for a family car. Because the one thing I have against electric cars is you have to sacrifice space for battery. But a van (hopefully) solves that. Problem I can't find a review after 2017. And dealers will include their first born just to sell you one. I need an independent adjudicator, and I am especially interested in range on charge with load
Hello Edd, what would you say about the fiat van 1.6 diesel it looks very similar to the Renault traffic? Is it a better diesel engine?
How about the Merc Vito as we can tell that not having the transporter your waiting for the 6.1
Great review. Looking at the stats on screen and comparing to the custom booklet. The traffic is bigger exterior on everything but inside the short wheel base length the custom wins. Long wheel base traffic wins. Lowest roof giving most height the custom wins. The highest high roof is the traffic. The width and wheel arch gap the custom wins comfortably. Think the french always love their own vehicles so probably why they go on about it. Though seeing french cars here with french number plates they are useless drivers so wouldn’t pay much attention to them. I think most vans these days are pretty good. Just depends on dealer support and what you need from a van

@twinscroll turbo yup got in in one. God awful build quality I think stevie wonder built mine judging by the panel gaps. Terrible materials and underpowered 1.6litre engines. I would take the transit custom everytime
chappy2121 all the transits customs I’ve driven had pretty crude engines.. the Trafic sport Ive just bought seems like a limo in comparison

@@thomash2806 Europe is a political entity, countries apply for inclusion in the EU, the place is built out of politics, hence the referendum about leaving, and the UK is leaving so really won't be part of the EU, because the member states of the EU is Europe and the UK won't be part of it, because it's not just about geography. Just being near France doesn't make it Europe if we are no longer part of the EU, this is like calling Canada part of the USA because of 'geography' completely ignoring the fact that Canada isn't part of the USA, same rules for the UK, leaving Europe so not Europe anymore.
You can call the UK part of Europe if you want, but it's not correct anymore.

Why are they so expensive I bought a new trafic 115 with metallic paint 1.6 in 2015 for 15000 Inc vat now they want mega bucks for it which is a van design going back 15 years...

Trafic shares the low spec. engine with the Vito and other non-van cars like mercedes A and B series A 180 d. And renault koleos, megane, Talisman... It's a simple 1.6 120 bhp engine.

Crashy?.. the earlier versions 2014-2019 where the best in class for road ride quality, I’ve just driven the transporter and tranny custom back to back several times over, the VW is way overpriced and the custom is overrated for some reason, I found the engines where very ‘gravelly’ sounding and gutless. unless you’re comparing it to an S Class merc then yes it’s maybe a bit ‘craahy’

I had 2016 Renault Trafic swb I swapped it in for Toyota proace compact way better van

I've got the previous version as a professionally converted pop top camper. It drives great and slightly bigger than a VW (and much cheaper). 🙂

buy the new 2.0 ...not the 1.6 ....Ford has made a mess.........stick to this.....and vivaro(psa citroen peugeot) adblue system is failing....weak point in this.......gearbox/clutch.....future vw will be ford....mercedes vito 110/114 fwd is renault engine 1.7 (1749 cc)....others 114 rwd / 116/119 and awd are new oem 654 mercedes engine (1950 cc)

It’s better than the transit, better value better on fuel, beautiful engine, sweet as a nut, it’s not second to the ford, so stop pushing the so called British build as better, anything built in Europe is better.
I had a transit custom and I must say its better in everyway but cost alot more and less warranty with it

Sorry to spoil your agenda, spamming the same BS in other comments! ALL vans add their "Achilles heel"! There's a lot of them that had stuck injector issues. But there's also a huge amount of them who never had any injector issue! In fact a larger number! So?
About "get to work in the morning". There's issues that show up with plenty warning time, like a rusted injector. In fact years of warning time, it surely doesn't happen overnight!!
Or other well known issues from the competition. Like broken turbo, distribution or oil pump that leave you stranded on the spot. Waiting for an entire new engine!

These vans are shit wouldn’t pull you out of the bed. I owned a 08 got rid of it after 6 months and I had a 18 on rental. Ford transit custom all day long I’m on my second one.
