    You - "pitching cars". Him - "modding vehicles". Switch - A - Roo or Irony? No matter, you are (and ALWAYS have been) a wonderful presenter - making the complex comprehensible while turning sneers into laughter. Great job. I'm happy to see you back! Nice work -

    I love the fact, that at last someone start making vans, what looks like just great cars, not only "machine for work".

  • @gingermongoose3325

    As an agency driver, usually driving lorries work can get a bit lean this time of year.
    But my agency are amazing & always strive to give reliable drivers some form of work.
    So over the Xmas / New year period I was allocated work at a popular van rental company, mainly collecting vans that had been hired by the Royal mail & Parcelforce.
    These were all newish 2019 plate vans, all less than 5000 miles - the damage on them was horrific !
    Our team of 3/4 picked up over 60 vans, & only one had no damage, some were so bad, they would be illegal to drive.
    The cabs, for the main part were disgusting, - food, drink, clothing & general mess all left behind, (however I did gain 38 pence & 3 lighters)
    So in the past 10 days, having driven most new model vans, my conclusions are :
    Sprinter - Good van, Solid, but seems a bit dated.
    Transit- Always been a favourite of mine, overall best for value & practicability.
    Crafter - Pulls like a train, basic cab, a workhorse.
    Boxer - who the hell thought putting the handbrake to the right of the drivers seat was a good idea ? - when fully raised it will do it's best to sodomise you whilst exiting the cab, other than that - feels OK, but think it may have many things malfunctioning shortly after purchase.
    And now, my absolute favourite, - the VW Transporter, Solid, well made, fast, comfy, an absolute pleasure to drive.
    Now the downside - the model I was driving costs around £38,000 - it was nice - but not that nice.

    I bought mine from new 2016 (66plate) now has 35k miles
    2 faulty injectors at delivery mileage 200ish
    pulling away is tricky clutch has a mind of its own
    Idler pully had to be replaced due to excessive noise
    hill start works when it feels like it
    horn sounds 3/10 times when you lock the van (doors all shut)
    1 rear parking sensor failed
    wipers go on when they feel like it
    indicators repeat quickly sometimes as if there was a fault/earth fault
    Power and torque is not consistent under 3k rpm i took it to a dyno to prove this over 3k power and torque are consistent
    Ford dealers are useless they rely on computer diagnosis for warranty repairs, "technicians" are not interested in looking into a fault if the computer cannot find it. it has been to 3 dealerships for the above issues and some are still not fixed approx. 20-25 times
    Interior is nice and the heated seats are great, parking sensors helpful and dab radio is good
    To sum up I would never recommend a transit custom to anybody and I hate driving it around the town, motorway driving is decent.

    • @archechme
      @archechme 4 роки тому +6

      @@richards4456 It was a hire van for a quick run down to London whilst the Renault was having an MOT. Don't get me wrong, the Master can be many things but unreliable is not one of them. I was just amazed at how nice a van could be compared to a utilitarian Master.

      Worrying! Currently waiting for verdict from Ford customer service as the cam belt/chain went on my van, 59,617 miles and 2 weeks out of 3 year warranty, Ford say needs a new engine costing nearly £7,000. Vehicle has full service history but dealership says it shouldn’t have happened but right now that doesn’t help me.

      "This is a common missunderstanding. Edd is reviewing a new custom, right?
      In what way is it easy to brake into?
      I have a 2020 with deadlock option + factory alarm and there is no way of getting in the back without a coded key.
      The lock from the outside is strengthened (I honestly don't know how bad/good it is now) but even if they get into the cab it's impossible to get into the rear."

Shame the Transit is now being built in Turkey, shifted from Southhampton in the UK during 2015 I think. I had a new one for six months and I could not wait to get ride of it.
    Very easy to kill the engine changing out of first gear , particularly at roundabout s and traffic lights with the clutch being very touchy-feely.
    The rear suspension is very bouncy and hard on the neck, particularly with long journeys, just have a look at any of these transits passing you on motorways, the rear end bounces constantly, needs some refinement in my opinion, anyway got the transporter now, a whole different world.....

    Having had to scrap a Mkvi at 8 years old due to floorpan rot and had a mk6 welded for the MOT at 6 years old.
    I would want to know what Ford have done about the transit rot syndrome before buying a Ford again.

      if you looking for something the same size as a transit custom than you can opt for something live a vivaro/traffic or toyota proace verso or transporters and if something smaller the for toureneo connect. You have to see what your budget and what equipment you need/want. You cn go full mini van or a crew cab.

    My Openreach supplied Custom Transit was in and out the repair shop. I had four accelerator (fly by wire) pedal replacements in the three years I had it. They are built in Turkey and have dreadful build quality and dire custom support.

      what were the symptoms of the fbw throttle problem...did the van judder at certain speeds?

    • @penfold5095
      @penfold5095 5 років тому +2

      @@paulp1008 There was a noticeable lack of response from the accelerator which increased as time went on. Then the van would give up and go into 'limp home' max 1000 rpm mode. The repair every time was replacement of the throttle pedal assembly. After four repairs I was glad to see the back of the van.

    Here in U.S.A. the Transit is a relatively new replacement for the Econoline series and I personally have found them to be rather top heavy especially the extended roof version. So much so that highway driving is a white knuckle experience.

    • @petelattimer6808
      @petelattimer6808 5 років тому

      you must be a pretty poor driver in that case, as the Transit is one of, if not THE best handling vans available in the UK, and manages to do it WITHOUT ruining the ride quality, unlike the Mercedes, VW, Renault/vauxhall etc offerings.

      @@petelattimer6808 you are making assumptions based on cultural differences. I am an excellent drive in fact I have had several jobs where that is what I did, I drove vehiclesr but the way they are built here is different than there they sit higher with a higher center of gravity at least for the full-size van the Transit Connect is a different story though because it is a minivan.

      @@an04ker no I am not just pissed because it doesn't have a v8. I actually prefer the room in the driver's seat of the Transit over the cramped space of the econoline. Why can't you Brits just accept that we have different opinions and different ways of doing things? You are the second Brit to post a b.s. comment based on stereotypes that are not true just because of the way Americans have been represented mostly by comedians. I have not done the same with your culture. I have offered my personal opinion and have been attacked for it. If you want to go there I can but I have chosen not to trying to be nice. If one more person attacks me for an opinion then I will no longer be nice.

    Edd China then Ford or accessory companies should hire you to really costumize one or more of them on camera. Camper conversion. Or outfitting for professional uses. Raising or lowering the suspension, and so on. I am guessing that your core audience really wants to see you do what you did in wheeler dealers, and you could do this with the vans for instance. But I was always convinced that you would be headhunted by somebody super rich to take care of their car collection. You must have turned down some offers then. Regards from Denmark 👍

    Drive transits at work. 1 of them 2014 was an absolute nightmare, so many things went wrong after 20k miles, at 50k- 60k 2x turbos gone, just over 60k engine seized.. also been told that Ford doesn't have low oil level message so after first turbo change had to check oil every second day.. other couple transits at work aren't that bad. 9months ago I got new 2019 transit- done 18k miles, mechanically sound but seats are still so uncomfortable (maybe it's just me) , radio screen started freezing from 4k miles and when screen is frozen- half buttons aren't working on dash.. do I like it? It's ok. Would I buy one? I wouldn't buy any Ford
