This video makes me happy and sad. I used to work there in my late teens. Time passages. Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight. Thanks Chris for uploading this video.
Awesome. Bradlees! Loved the fountains there and they used to have awesome Christmas decorations. Thanks mom and dad for taking us. Loved fanny farmers chocolates there and the pay toilets...
I miss Fannie Farmers. Bradlees is another store that is greatly missed. I went to their closeout sale & got the 1st edition Simpson action figures & legos for almost nothing. Thanks for uploading.
My mom used to drag me there all the time when I was a kid in the late 80's and well into the 90's. It was at the Nashua Mall Friendly's Restaurant that I discovered my all-time favorite ice cream dish; the Clown Sundae. Thanks for uploading this!
I remember the fields and farm at same location back in 1959 when my parents moved us from Hudson to North Hollis Rd/Broad St. Worked in the mall for several kiosk venders over the years. Gibraltar Pools had a pool set up for a long time in the middle down at the Burlington Coat end. Worked Sheep Me Warm and other kiosks.
Pretty sure this was the first fully enclosed mall that I was ever in. Had never heard of CVS before and I think there was an "Orange Julius to wet your whistle at.. The video games consisted of Pong and maybe one other. There was a display in a jewelry store having a "gold" tone and "silver" tone digital watch that showed the date and the time, pretty fancy stuff. And you say its been torn down, starting to feel 66 years old... At the time I was working at Beebe Rubber Company while establishing my residence so I could go to UNH instate tuition wise. Boy, last time I saw this place I was with the love of my life a really sweet girl who lived in Nashua. We went our own ways after a while and I was fortunate to meet my Wife going on 34 years now out here in S.California. Thanks a lot for posting this. PS After reading some of the comments I'm not totally sure this is the same mall I'm talking about 1973-75. Back then I think there was only one mall, you think its this?
It's the right mall! I wasn't around in 75, but I know the other mall didn't get built for another decade or so. This was the one with Alexander's and Shorty's across the parking lot (which is still there!)
I really appreciate this video. Living in Nashua, coming from NYC. Cagen use to run the eye glass shop and the Tee shirt shop. Big Johnson tees😂😂. Poore Simmons I shopped at quite a lot. Miss this.
This was a great trip down memory lane. I love this mall and miss it big time. I hate the Pheasant Lane Mall and won't go unless I absolutely, positively have to go there.
I only wish the tracking wasn't so bad. I transferred it to VHS shortly after filming it. Bad choice I suppose. I'm going through my archives and hope to find more gems like that one. Enough stuff to start a separate "retro channel." Ha ha.
ChrisReagan Dude the tracking lines are beautiful. Especially the lost frames popping in and out. Ghosts of consumer's past. That look is really in style now a days. Do you still have the camera you shot this on? How exactly did you transfer it on to VHS?
+ChrisReagan What year was this filmed? I know it has to be before 2001, at least, because that's when Bradlees went out of business. I don't think I ever went in this part of the mall, actually. Do you have any video of the royal ridge mall?
I liked it back then honestly better than today. I remember going to Shortys to eat with my parents then stopping in Burlington Coat and Poore Simons. They had Bradlees and I recall liking that one. I love the music too..
Wow what an awesome video. I remember this so vividly. As soon as i saw Bradlees i had a grin ear to ear i remember the week before school started being dragged to Bradlees then Rich's for clothes shopping. At the time it was pure hell. Now its a fond memory. Thanks for the trip!
This is the clone of many smaller malls from the northeast. And unfortunately that is kinda how they all looked in the 90s before they got torn down for chopping plazas etc. A prosumer VCR with manual tracking and come patience could help a lot with the quality of the transfer.
I was wondering if you had any footage or photos of the outside of the mall. I am working on a painting series called "This Was Nashua". Just going through different areas and painting how it used to look circa 1995. Trying to get some reference photos to fill in the gaps in my memory and make it as accurate as possible.
Wasn't there another store where Woolco's was besides Bradlee's? I'm wondering if Almy's moved across there from the opposite end for a short time...but it was at least one other store there. Killing me. I also enjoyed the Paperback Booksmith and the Tobacco shop
Montgomery Wards became an Ames in 2000 and was behind it where Chunky's is now, Child World, Radio Shack and Alexanders were in the same plaza in the back where Home Depot is now, but not attached to the mall. Almy's never moved to another location, Burlington coat factory took their end of the mall after they closed in 1987.
This is just awesome! Do you have any footage of the Royal Ridge Mall off of exit one near the Green Ridge Turkey Farm? I think that was the one with Friendly’s, correct?
+slcwest75 This is actually cool to see, my wife and I were just talking the other week about how Nashua has changed since the mid 80's and I remembered that little booth in the parking lot where you could drop your film off to get it developed.....30 yrs ago.
+slcwest75 I remember Bradlee's from when I was a kid. They were located where Kohl's is now. When the mall was converted into a plaza, a few of the stores moved to behind Babies R Us but a lot of them just closed. Of all the stores seen in this video, only the Burlington Coat Factory remains on its original site today.
+Matt Lemoine I completely agree with you....I've been in Nashua for over 40 years....this is totally a blast from the past for me......kind of sad time has to be so fleeting as the years go by, its like only yesterday I was 30...and I've heard the speed and passage of time only increases as we age....if only we could turn the hour glass over??
I remember the Bradlees there. Across from the Mall (where Home Depot is now) was Child's World (who remembers that company?) and Alexanders Shop N Save. There was a small bakery there as well. Montgomery Ward then Lechmere were where Planet Fitness is now.
It's actually "The Girl From Ipanema", off of Ultra Lounge Vol. 11 - Organs in Orbit. I thought that cliche "mall music" would work so much better than the audio that was already on the video. Ha ha.
What year was this shot? My parents couldn't remember that there was a Bradlees at the Nashua Mall. Glad I could find this video and prove them wrong. ;-)
Does anyone know the approximate year this video was filmed? 1988? Earlier? Love the video, great memories, thank you! I remember the other mall in the south end before the PLM and it had machinery from the old mills on display. I think...I think that memory is real. 😆
and there was Brandt theaters across the plaza, and Alexanders supermarkets, and Coconuts records and tapes and across the street was Montgomery Wards, where Chunky,s is now, Deny,s has always been there, it is shame but the Chinese restaurant i think is now gone
It's a mini mall now. Burlington coat factory is still there. Bradley's is now a Kohl's. Christmas Tree Shops is in between those two stores. And across the lot, there's a Wendy's where the movie theater used to be.
You know what? Someone younger than you will be asking you the same thing when you long for YOUR era too. Its called great memories. No need to be an ass.
A kid seeing this video nowadays would be like "Where are the kiosks that sell iphone accessories?" This hearkens back to the good old days when malls had more independent stores. Now, all they have are chains such as American Eagle, Lane Bryant, and Hot Topic. Blechh!!! As outdated as this mall became, I really don't like how it was transformed. Big box stores suck from an urban planning standpoint!! You can't even walk from Kohl's to the stores at the back such as Subway or Runner's Alley without going outside!
I was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire in 1966. I truly miss the old Nashua mall. I wish that it could still be here.
This video makes me happy and sad. I used to work there in my late teens. Time passages. Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight. Thanks Chris for uploading this video.
Save me a ticket, I'll go too!!!
Excellent reference and song.
Awesome. Bradlees! Loved the fountains there and they used to have awesome Christmas decorations. Thanks mom and dad for taking us. Loved fanny farmers chocolates there and the pay toilets...
I almost forgot about the pay toilets!! LOL.
That sounds so bizarre nowadays.
The smell of Fanny Farmers… 😁
Thank you so much for this! My sis and Mom were reminiscing about this spot. We went in the 70s and 80s.
I’m so happy this video exists. It’s like opening a Time Capsule.
very cool footage i wish i could go back in time and visit
I miss Fannie Farmers. Bradlees is another store that is greatly missed. I went to their closeout sale & got the 1st edition Simpson action figures & legos for almost nothing. Thanks for uploading.

Used to take my son once a week. This summer got his son that clown sundae (in NJ)
@@erz0314 The Mall.
I'm in this video.. I used to work in the mall. Wow! Thank you for sharing...:)
The only thing missing was the Puppy Mill pet store that sold many ill dogs at top dollar prices. So glad when they got closed down.
Pretty sure this was the first fully enclosed mall that I was ever in. Had never heard of CVS before and I think there was an "Orange Julius to wet your whistle at.. I hope you find more! A Nashua retro UA-cam page would be awesome. People would love it.

+Dakota Lustick Um, I don't think so. I'd must rather be able to see the video clearly.
god i miss this mall!!!
I'm all about the wolf shirt shop.
Went to Burlington coat factory the other day.
Awesome video!
The music could not be more perfect.
I liked it back then honestly better than today. I remember going to Shortys to eat with my parents then stopping in Burlington Coat and Poore Simons. They had Bradlees and I recall liking that one. I love the music too..
There was a water fountain in the middle of the corridor that we used to throw pennies into. Surprised I didn’t see it in the vid.
It's there at 1:24.
@@the.craigthomsonthanks, you’re right! So much smaller than I remember haha
True, as a kid it seems huge!
I moved away in 1980. I remember a Child World toy store, a movie theater, and a Denny's.
Aww now Im home sick..thanks for the walk down memory lane..I can remember when the mall was much older then this video..
Brings back some great memories
My mom used to work at the friendlies that's was in this mall, I miss the memories.
I remember the movie theater across the lot.
Hoyts! I used to work there. And back in the 80s and early 90s it was Canaad.
@@chaospoet That's awesome! I remember watching SW episode 1 in that theater. Too bad that theater is gone now.
Rich's, Ha ha ha. Now there's a flashback!!
It was the "back-to-school clothing store" when I was little. Lol.
It was the Walmart of the 70s! Hahaha
Wow Woolco ID forgotten about that!
My first job in high school was at the CVS. My first job after college was at Travel Service in the Mall! So miss the Nashua Mall!
thank you. i remember as a kid

Where in the mall was the Friendlys restaurant? Dont see it in the video

LET'S ALL GO GET WOLF SHIRTS & STOP AT BRADLEE'S FOR SOME SWEET WRANGLER JEANS!
Encountering THE Vincenzo Marsden of Frasier Shitposting in a dead mall video comment section. Amazing.
This is fucking awesome. Thank you for this!!!
The only thing missing in this video was ol Franny walking around cursing kids out & talking baseball.. (if you know, you know)
Wow!!! Franny! Haven't thought of him in years! You hit the nail on the head!! 🤣
Yes....this does pose a problem, because I don't remember a Bradlees in the Nashua Mall at all. Bradlees was at Simoneau (Globe) Plaza on Main St.
+slcwest75 This is actually cool to see, my wife and I were just talking the other week about how Nashua has changed since the mid 80's and I remembered that little booth in the parking lot where you could drop your film off to get it developed.....30 yrs ago.

it was from long ago, I used to go in my childhood! and yes, I do remember Bradlees! what year is this from?
Any idea when this mall first opened? I thinking either 1960s or '70s judging by the style of the place.
1969
@@TRJ2241987 Inconsistent much?
Who is this glorious music made by?
It's actually "The Girl From Ipanema", off of Ultra Lounge Vol. 11 - Organs in Orbit.

loved Fanny Farmer and Friendly's.
fantastic video! any idea the approximate date this was made? looks like mid 90s, if i had to guess?
1994

I do believe it was from 1994. In May, possibly.
+ChrisReagan...thanks for posting!!! Whare very happened to you???
How do they close it up
In the beginning I recognize the man walking. Names fail me, but wasn't he a janitor?

Wasn't that a Strawberries records next to Alexander's bakery?
What is there now?

These guys knew what was up before we did.
I wished they would aim the camera at some of the store names. I wasn't interested in seeing those guys.
I could smell this video
Nashua, WHERE?
Gary Plastek New Hampshire
i worked at the Pet store and was one of the mall security guard for two weeks hahahaha!!
I use to go to the pet store with my family all the time as a kid!

I remember Friendly,s was in there

The Pheasant Lane Mall really hurt this mall. It never had the big crowds after Pheasant opened. Of course now Amazon is killing almost every mall.
