Nat was a huge influence on Ray. I believe from my history knowledge on researching, they were both introduced in the early or maybe the late 1950’s and became good friends. RIP to both of those wonderful legends.
I am 76 and have loved this my favorite jazz tune since I first heard it as a very small child. The musical Minor notes and chords in a song have always been intoxicating, mesmerizing, and addicting to my musical soul and ear. I have so much respect for Ray and his version. And of course, Nat King Cole's version is legendary. AND. .new comer, Matthew Forbes' version, continues the legacy of new discovery of this historical gem.🎼🎵🎤🎶🎹👍❤️👏
Even with a weakend voice at the end of his life Ray knows and feels the quintessence of the meaning and the mood, the special qualitiy of each song - and is capable to perform it with his unique voice and piano playing. Absolutely wonderful.
along with MY FUNNY VALENTINE, THIS song is a very close second place to me....personally speaking , AND when Ray Charles plays it, well then, I'm all in for that!
As a musician, I have a lot of empathy for the drummer who’s playing on this. It’s hard enough to play that slow and stay on the beat, but Mr. Charles’ rhythm is so free that trying to make sure you’re hitting the ride cymbal in time with the piano has to be nerve wracking.
There aren't much singers who could put so much emotion into a song, and make the audience feel that emotion. Ironic for such a legend like Ray Charles, to be able to make people see, what himself could not.
Que hermosa interpretación de este clásico , escuché está canción por vez primera en los 60 , tenía 10 años y aún la escucho gracias desde Sudamérica 🌈🌴

I love David Bowie’s version for Moulin Rouge 💕

Timeless...as was Nat's version along with the story behind the song. And Ray ate it up. You're missed Ray.

Dude! You've never heard blues? Rockabilly? Soul music?? There are plenty of artists who put so much emotion when they sing.
But definitely feels 😌.
beautiful rendition...equals, Nat, and
Benson
This beautiful song was written by eden ahbez a tramp who wandered across the USA. He handed the song to Nat King Cole in the 1940s.

Ray sings Nat classic
Why is this at the bottom of the list when you type " nature boy cover"?!
wow
Why i thought this was Bill Cosby at first lol lawd the reefa
il rend toutes les chansons sensibles à cause de son style et de son âge, mais là, non, pas pour moi; c'était déjà un peu tard
primus
I never ever knew bill Cosby could play piano after a few qualudes.
