I want to really make them look like fantasy-oaks with gnarly roots and branches all over the place. I expect that those might be more complex though! 😂 Thanks, as always, for a nice comment! 💙💛💙
If you dont want to see peeks of the green plastic branches, you could mix some acrylic paint or pigment with liquid latex or probably even the glue before/while flocking
@@DevsDice i had a TON of raindeer moss that way WAY too bright, after watching this i glued it all to dowels and flocked this sh!t outta it, looks epic! thanks so much!!!!!

May I ask what size flock you used please? I can see various online and don't want to order the wrong one. Thanks for such an informative video, really looking forward to making my own.
Of course! I used Woodland Scenics flock called "coarse" and in the worst case you can make them smaller by tearing them up. For the highlights I use some smaller sized flock! Hope that helps! 👍😅
Thank you Wayofthewicked! Yeah this one just hit me as I was at IKEA. I am sure everyone who crafts after a while starts seeing things in a different light through the lens of crafting! 👍😂
That's awesome! I would look into making my own and in that case I would use either really fine sawdust or trying to grind up fluffy foam and color it. AFAIK that's what the woodland scenics is. I think though that sawdust might be simpler? Depending on your specific situation. Hope that helps!
On another note, I would also look around in the nature for mosses and such. That could be easily a good enough tree using lichen or something like that?
While watching your recent Hills Scatter Terrain video, my girlfriend mentioned the trees seen at the beginning. I had forgotten about this previous video until now. As always, thanks for the video. Side question: while perusing the comments, I read that you lived in Montreal for a year. That’s where we live. I hope you enjoyed it, even with the never ending construction.
Yeah I do fantasy mostly but ironically enough I am at the moment working on something in the 40k region and I think I will have more of that kind of videos going forwards! :)
Hmmnnn.. IKEA doesn't stock this particular SKU any more.... any ideas on where to find similar fine needled smaller trees? Most of the ones I see on Amazon have much thicker needles that are more like ribbons, or needles made of plastic.
I always cut towards the thumb, my dad is a woodworker of 35 years and he does it too. He says its much safer, as you can control the pressure and wont slide out!
