The film that really set it all off.
We waited on the side of the highway to find some fast Gumball cars to race with. After waiting for more then 4 hours "Lonman" drove up in his modified Porsche GT 2 and the rest is history. It is from this short film that the Gumball's motto was made, "It's not a Race, It's a Rally". Also we gave the footage to be used in "Gumball 3000: The Movie" and it was used as the climax race scene. The repercussions from this films popularity can be seen in "Vehicular Lunatics" and our new film "Team Tork and the Scumballers".
PS. The helicopter at the end was not a police helicopter as feared but rather the Gumball film crew helicopter.
For these kids this was the most amazing day of their lives; for the Porsche driver, it was Wednesday.
I always come back to this video every few years or so, ah the memories. At the time the potato style quality of the video was great because how fun to watch their excitement is in the video

@machinegunboy98 - Our Supra topped out once in the vid @ "indicated" 180mph on the stock speedo, w/ stock size wheels & tires. The Modded GT2 did an "indicated" 206 on his stock Porsche speedo. They might be off, but not too far. Maybe, just MAYBE... you don't understand how hand held cameras make everything look slow. We weren't just going 100 mph. My 2.0L 90whp VW Jetta Wagon does a GPS P-Box verified 117 mph topped out on a flat highway. The Porsche & Supra covered 48 miles in 17 min.
Lol that GT2 can keep 160 upwards for probably hours if it had an endurance racing fuel cell
6 years later and this video is STILL awesome.
The one thing I can establish and assert about the Porsche GT2 is that the main objective upon it's creation was to be driven hard and to go very fast, consistenly in a straight line and to bend turns as if they were straight . Definitely not the car for the novice driver with a hefty bank account .

I'm pretty surprised at how the people on your highway drive! Here in europe the slow drive on the right, I see random people on the left, trucks in the middle what's going on :D

@gr4381582 That Porsche is NOT bone stock. We met the owner, Rob Kenworthy. It's tastefully modded to the tune of ~560bhp. But clearly our heavy Supra with 3 people in it, BPU modded with ~429whp was not enough to be "faster" but it did keep up "better" due to Mook-Sang, driver. The way Rob drives is no joke.
IMV Films wasn't officially "on" the Rally till 2004. Look up Team Tork and the Scumballers on our website. In 2003, Alex Roy won the "Spirit Award", and Lonman in the GT2 won "Hardest Driver" award. Timekeeping and Placement isn't officially kept on these Rallies... it could be interpreted as "illegal". The individual participants keep unofficial tabs on this between friends only.
@machinegunboy98 This Porsche was a GT2, not GT3. It was a 2003 model year as far as we know. It came stock with Twin Turbos. The owner, Rob Kenworthy of London, supposedly had an exhaust, tune, increased boost and longer 6th gear. It was claimed to make 560 bhp. I can certainly believe it.
One of those crazy Americans with them 1k HP Supras should enter the race, let those Porsches and Ferraris eat some dust!

Maybe Lonman just wanted to be left alone.Nothing worse than being pursued by carload of squids when you're trying to cover 3000plus miles with a quickness.
The best part is this is on the internet with their faces, speedometer, and make of their car as evidence if the police choose to arrest them for attempted manslaughter. This happened to a motorcyclist who posted videos on youtube in the UK.
If that is a Germany Autobahn, then there are some parts which have no speed limit. You know there is no speed limit because there is a sign with a circle and five diagonal lines running from right to left. It's the "limits no longer apply" sign.
I give the driver props for doing that with the possability of jail time.. mad props.. and the GT2 would murder that rice burner even with a twin turbo tweeked out..

How stable was the bpu supra at those speeds??
He's using a Cobra scanner, the sound you heard was X band, it's RF, not laser, and it's not just cops that set off the scanner, mine goes off at lots of things, even TV remotes / garage doors. They didn't get lazed, trust me.
Have you ever seen a modified porsche GT2? A $200,000 car with goodies is something to gaze at for sure. Many produce 700hp...

You're not too into cars then dude, seeing a car like that gets anyone pumped up. A Supra going 180 and the GT2 is still leaving it behind is quite a big deal to us who are actually love pushing the limit of our vehicles.
Damn, i've done a lot of drugs in my life but you know what? No drug compares to that fucking amped up feeling like doing an Aderol... This mimics it, i'll tell you that. I had cops in helicopters chase me through Akron Ohio doing 115 in my Cadillac Fleetwood in downtown traffic and they let me go on the ticket! Just gave me a seat belt ticket.

The GT2 did 242MPH through Texas, the Supra was going 170-180MPH and couldn't keep up lol, yeah, its well hyped up bro. They're not stupid at all, they constantly run at these speeds and train at tracks ect, get Vehicular Lunatics and you'll see them go at it. Not a lot of cars can keep up with this one, I know mine couldn't and it tops out at 170 at the moment.

@IMVFilms That's a porsche 911 Turbo bro, at stock that thing is packing 530hp 100hp more than your modded supra, so even if it was stock you had no chance plus on that car 30hp more is just a slight tweak of the ECU.
The aerodynamic shape of the car also has a huge effect when doing such speed and the porsche is very aerodynamic, so even with less power it would still be faster than your supra. Also the porsche guy had a co driver too so you only had 1 extra passenger

There only no limit on some parts of the Autobahn or highway. This is one of them. But the cops enforce other rules. Like no passing on the right lane and such.

It changes every year based on inflation, exchange rates & destinations along the route. We were hired to film the full 2004 Rally for Torquenstein. France - Spain - Morocco. Team Tork & the Scumballers is the DVD. We also privately "Scumballed it" in the 2005 Hennessey OneLap Viper for the 2006 US Leg of the Rally; a longer version of this impromptu, 2003 Florida Scumball run. We coined the word Scumballers as 'true enthusiasts who follow Gumball & love it, but can't afford the entry fee.'

Go check yourself, their purpose in these video was to chase Gumballers. They just happened to come across Conworthy's GT2

Thats cool. never thought a supra could go upto 170+ mph. I've done 187 mph in a Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge Stradale on a race track. But to do 170+ mph in Gumball is just crazy. Well anywayz. I think every speed freak should visit Germany once in their lifetime.
180 on a highway with traffic?? Doubt it. The film car was only going around 120 because the rest of the traffic did not appear to be going much slower.
