Man, this is helping my HS WR’s, my oldest son who now wants to be a receiver, and…even 47-year-old me. Yep, still want to play when I retire in 14-16 years. I’ll be working on these between now & then, Lord willing. Thank you, Coach. God bless you. Praying for you, your family, & your work as well.

    Summary of Drills
    1. Four Cone Jab Throws (0:37)
    - 2 sets 4 reps
    - line four cones up
    - chop step and throw a jab over the line before each cone
    - fast hands, fast feet; *bring the hip over the line with the foot*
    - trains for convincing and effective jabs
    2. Break Deceleration (1:55)
    - fall forward chest leading first and catch yourself in two steps
    - stay low; land on the balls of your feet
    - trains for quick deceleration and explosive change in direction
    3. One Foot Cutting (3:50)
    - four cones in a "staircase" configuration, about 3.5 steps apart
    - take three steps towards the cone and explosively snap towards the next; repeat through all cones
    - land on the ball of the foot when cutting
    - turn hips and shoulders with each cut
    - do not "round off" your cut early - stay committed until the direction change
    4. Stability Training (5:12)
    - 8-10 yard straight line
    - alternating single-leg hops over a line, pushing off the outside foot on one side and landing on the other as you move forward
    - focus on sticking the landing and absorbing the impact - builds leg strength, balance, and stabilizer muscles
    - jump as far as you can once comfortable - maximizes workout

What is the best way to catch the ball on any route for consistent catches in your opinion?

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  11 місяців тому

Diamond shape with your hands so thumb & index fingers almost touching and catch the ball in your fingers rather than letting it bounce off your palm. Not the finger tips

Will Levis out of Kentucky. He may not be the best QB but he has probably perfect throwing mechanics. Don’t need to replicate him but can take some things from his game
