I was in Mongolia in 2017. Mongolia ofcourse doesn't want to be part of China. Mongolia want to remain indepedent, and are adamant to join the CSTO-military alliance with Russia, sending a clear signal that China is a threat to Mongolia(since it only has 2 neighbors). They hear from their Mongolian cousins in China(Mongolian province in China) who visit Mongolia, that life in China is very bad, and always have to be on guard on what they say. Mongolians in China are overjoyed, Mongolians have their own independent country, a sort of sanctuary against Beijing-rule. Literally everyone i spoke in Mongolia viewed Russia very favorably and China as a potential threat.

The war hasn't been formally ended by a treaty and is currently in a stalemate. Initially after the ceasefire, the Taipei claimed to be legitimate government of China and was recognized by the world as such. This lasted a few years before the world formally recognized Beijing as legitimate government of China. Formally Taiwan still claims to be government of all China, and has larger land & maritime claims than PRC, claiming territory at height of Qing Dynasty, not at the end before China entered into a civil war.

I was in Mongolia in 2017. Mongolia ofcourse doesn't want to be part of China. Mongolia want to remain indepedent, and are adamant to join the CSTO-military alliance with Russia, sending a clear signal that China is a threat to Mongolia(since it only has 2 neighbors). Taiwan was a Chinese territory since end of Ming Dynasty. After the last dynasty fell, China fell into a civil war (CCP & KMT), the KMT lost control of mainland China and retreated to Taiwan. The war hasn't been formally ended by a treaty and is currently in a stalemate. Initially after the ceasefire, the Taipei claimed to be legitimate government of China and was recognized by the world as such. This lasted a few years before the world formally recognized Beijing as legitimate government of China. Formally Taiwan still claims to be government of all China, and has larger land & maritime claims than PRC, claiming territory at height of Qing Dynasty, not at the end before China entered into a civil war.

The fact is that Taiwan is a much better society in every aspects and China threatening to come and destroy it makes them wrong, no matter what the history is.
Present day is more important than history.
And Taiwan claiming territory is irrelevant since they will not use force like China.
@@corentinf8896 it's not the same, the situation is similar to North Korea & South Korea. No China, hasn't threatened to destroy Taiwan, that's Taiwanese propaganda. China has largely used gun boat diplomacy to enforce its claims no different than other powers.
Most of them are not even "hot disputes" keep that in mind. The ones with North Korea, Mongolia, Nepal etc are not actively contested and they go about in their lives. It's like the Canada and Greenland dispute over uninhabited islands over the Arctic. Only discussed like once every 10 years.
