Great channel, Rex! I really enjoy your videos, and look forward to every upload! I've got the Holiday Buggy, Sand Viper, and Titan; you've represented the DT-02 (and Tamiya) well in this one.
Wow, this is worth gold, you have no idea how value able what you just said is
what format of videos do you enjoy?
I like your mix of running footage and tech talks. The first video of yours I ever watched was "All About The M Chassis". It was just what I was looking for, and it made a good impression. I think you're on the right track, and I hope you keep it up.
@@PenaltyCagePictures I appreciate the reply, I'm currently trying to find a format and start sticking to it, this helps me a lot, thank thank you again
Bought the original Holiday buggy back in 81. I was 19 and just about to get married. I'm 62 now and bought the DT version and absolutely love it. Brushless up grade, oil shocks, and ball raced its a quick little bugger! Makes a change to flying my aircraft and Helicopters. Takes me back to a better time.
👍 👍 🇫🇷 Cool vidéo my friend
Yes brother the DT02 is now a icon in the rc world 🌎 and as long as I'm alive they got a customer in me gotta love tamiya the longevity of the company and the long lasting models great video of a great chassis 👍👍👍
Thanks ck for your continued support
Awesome video of a very capable chassis Rex! I have yet to add a DT02 to my fleet but if I do, it will most likely be the holiday buggy. 👍😊
Dt02 is awesome chassis
If many brands and manufacturers have risen, and just as many have fallen, then we would have no RC cars. Don't you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby! Don't you put that on us! (I've watched this video I don't know how many times)
I have two desert gators but gonna swap one to a holiday buggy.
I don't have one but I've always like the dt02. Tamiya makes great stuff. In a world of rtr trucks and cars that hit over 50mph, Tamiya has what most of us old-timers want. A kit that you can run in your driveway, well designed and fun to drive. I miss the simplicity of the old tl01 too
Nice platform i just bought the holiday buggy 2010 version.before i had two dessert gators
Have you run it? Brings childhood smiles doesnt it?
Got my Sand Viper Kit today and looking way forward to built it. Bought it to compet in the Tamico Cup here in Germany. It's a Cup just for tamiyas and has a Fighter-Class where all DT-02/03 Chassis are allowed. Will be my first attempt on a real track, i hope it will be fun.
Oh wow i wish we had that series here in Canada, I really want to race my toys
Great video, sound track and brief history lesson of this iconic buggy. I love the holiday buggy however, I feel the track in the DT-02 is to wide for the buggy. I also miss the wheels that originally came with the buggy. There is a UA-camr “Humble vintage RC” that 3D printed shorter arms for the dt-02 chassis and also 3D printed some rims to fit the grasshopper paddle tires and front ribbed tires. Now, the HB he posted on YT look so much better having the wheels under the fenders like the 80’s HB together with an awesome chassis of the dt-02. I do recommend check that humble vintage rc channel on the HB. To me, Tamiya should have done that to the HB.
yes I enjoy his channel and he offer free print files
Great video! We'll done! In the 90s I had a Falcon and King Cab! Wish I still had them. For my 60th birthday recently I got my self a Sand Viper! Just getting started on the build!
Happy belated birthday! the sand viper is the model with upgraded suspension right?
I'm not sure. It has black plastic oil filled shocks and turnbuckle upper arms. Unfortunately you have to remove at least one end to adjust them.
@@michaelebersole6989 ah yes, the oil filled shock, a much needed improvement to the driveability of the car, Ive since instaledd oil filled shocks on my DT-02 and it is much more controllable although less comical now because the bounciness is gone
Best intro yet maybe 🤔
Wow thank you I will
Note that
Hey 👋🏻
Now this is a great video my friend and I couldn’t agree more!
DT-02 is awesome in any configuration 🤩👊🏻
Its the one ive been grabbing most to play with off camera
Great video Rex, I just bought my wife the Sand Viper kit (last month). BTW, Great Tune!!!
My wife got and built a thundershot chassis during this summer but had literally only one chance to go out and play with me 😢 I hope your wife gets to blast them with you!
Idea: place a stick (1-2feet long) on top of both your cars, now the goal is to het somewhere together without the stick falling, great idea right? I saw that somewhere here on youtube
I wish they would also remake the originals of those vehicles.
I got a hobbie buggy few months ago n im finally building it i forgot how much fun it is
Did you run it yet?
Not yet mate got side tracked with life lol
Love the running footage, never had that chassis but had the original Sand Rover back in the day, my first Tamiya, loved it until some woman ran over the back of of it in her car while I was running it in the street :(
Oh no!!!! I had that happen to my rs4 3 nitro when i first got it!
Do the rims fit current day tires?
Just picked up holiday buggy and looking for sand rover
Pinnacle Hobby has a street rover
Great video and i agree! There's nothing like driving a well ballanced 2-wheel drive offroad buggy. My favourites are my Traxxas Nitro Buggy and my Kyosho Baja Body. Both classics because no brand dares to produce a modern 2-wheel drive (preferably nitro) buggy, except for competition (electric). I would've loved to see a 1/10 or 1/8 scale HPI Baja!
Love my Wild One! Tamiya is #1 in that category!
Have you taken a good look at the 1/7 kyosho buggy from a while back? That looks sweet but i hear it doesnt handle too well, and again its electric…. Hmmmm…. Let me think… Tamiya themselves have made some nitro 2wd but yes, currently its only Traxxas!
@@rexrcs Yeah, and they also had a nitro version, but it's too big. It doesn't fit into my backpack. I have it's predecessor; the Pirate 2000 (which is the Kyosho Prestige built by HoBao in the 90's).
Unfortunately Traxxas doesn't make 2-wheel drive nitro buggies anymore, i don't have an afilliation with their stadium trucks, although they perform well!
@@2stroke4me hpi rush?
I miss mine, wow nothing current!
@@rexrcs That would be almost perfect, but very hard to find unfortunately.
Hi Rex, I have the re re holiday buggy but it’s the red special edition version, so I bought a used blue holiday buggy body,a set of the yellow wheels and tyres, a set of oil shocks and a set of Carson wheels and tyres. I love it for it’s simplicity and ease of use. Still don’t understand why they brought out the red version.
Red is kind of neat! I dont mind it at all, in fact a red one would be awesome! When was the last time you played with it
You need to check out the dn01 it seems like it's a variation of that but with different suspension setup it's called zahak is its name from the company.
is that the one the trf201 is based off of? thats a sexy buggy and much more performance oriented i think as well is that correct?
@@rexrcs no I think it's its own chassis it might be in the similar in dimensions but there is differences to it and if it is based on the trf it is a basic version of it.
Just getting through m-05s, CC-01...Which would be a good one to start with in these buggies?
Great vid too!
MAUZY! Thats a crazy question, the answer is always “ALL OF THEM” lol!
All kidding aside, it really depends on what makes you smile when watching it bounce through the dirt and grass patches, which one looks the coolest to you when pulling a handbrake turn or jumping a speed hump, for me my next dt-02 would either be a rover or the nissan titan for the body to put onto a cc-01
@@rexrcs going to check em now.
3 x Sand Viper. Third is a HB project.
Re-re Sand Rover
