Volvo S60 T6 R-Design vs Bollard - BeamNG.Drive
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2023
- This is a simulation made in BeamNG.Drive in which we crash a Volvo S60 T6 R-Design into a bollard on different speeds to see the damage done to Volvo S60 T6.
The Crash Physics is near real.

The Volvo’s body integrity holds up better than any other car I’ve seen so far in these videos.
I literally just totalled my volvo. Same exact car in this video. We were so lucky, we didn't even get hurt. I was going 60-70 when this old lady turned RIGHT in front of me. They also have the feature that the car stops itself in an accident. I swear it happened so fast, I don't even remember slamming on the breaks. But the whole front end got smushed, and we were fine.

Pause it at the right spot and you can see that, at 40 mph, the bumper departs the vehicle and passes through the pole with no initial damage. Other than that, very real looking sim.
Dude. EXACTLY RIGHT !! Not just the bumper, but the skirting in front of the radiator grill, too.

I will never drive anything else. Going on my 3rd now. I just totalled mine, an old lady decided to not yield for oncoming traffic, and turned immediately in front of me. I was going about 65. My car is mangled, but we walked away fine. The old lady too. Because of the feature, that the car stops itself when it senses another vehicle....I hit the back of the side of her. She's very lucky I didn't hit the front side.

@@hammerbro2125 well, every accident is different. And every car is just a car. Maybe if you had a different car, it would've been much worse...who knows? Maybe. Maybe not. Glad you are ok though.
120mph crash gives new meaning to the "pole vault".
I cant imagine how much energy is generated to do this much damage...seat belts would save nobody in a smash like these.
I think seat belts are more so they can find your body easier they don't have to search so much.
Massive amount of energy that was never dissipated. By the time your body stops moving forward, your internal organs are still moving at 160mph. Unsurvivable.
I suppose it's all some mathematical equation.....😮
@lewissteiner-dr9jg I was hit at 75mph by a fully loaded 80,000lb 18 wheeler. While the seat belt saved my life w/o a doubt. It also caused most of my injuries. 22 broken bones, fractured C2. crushed both heels, crushed my hip, shattered my knee, broke my Sternum, lacerated liver and spleen. 4 months in the ICU, 6 months in a rehab facility to learn to walk again and a lifetime of post traumatic arthritis. I coded out 3 times at the ER. The impact energy was unimaginable sir. Most people grossly underestimate the amount of energy involved and that most of the injuries are created not in the initial impact, but the rapid deceleration phase of the accident.
@jananabanana3180 Purely physics actually.
150 hit was impeccable
Yep, especially consider the ones leading up to that were dicey.
I know this is animation, but it’s a very realistic concept of actual damage to vehicles made today. The Cars made 20 years ago, that pole would’ve had a little damage to it.😳
At 150, the driver and the car truly become one!

That is some pretty impressive graphics
That’s evil. It had me fooled and I’m normally pretty good at detecting graphics. I did wonder why and how the bollard is there and never moves and the earth never kicked up that much on the 120mph bit. But now that I’m looking at it more and more I see the graphics. I’m more impressed about the stuff going on to make it crumple and physically react to hitting the bollard, it’s seem pretty accurate. The last one had me laughing, where the car snaps back to an extent. Like in the comedy films where a car gets wrecked and the door falls off 10 seconds later.
Plus the camera POV following the car as it leaves the road at great speed
Air bags don't deploy on the 40 mph crash...of a Mercedes, no less.
In the next-to-last crash the wreck spins off the road and at the very end bumps into a wood rail fence. But the fence doesn't give, it's as invincible as the bollard.
You can see the anti aliasing
@@batmanonabike3119 The low-quality smoke/steam rendering gives these away but the Beam Team are improving it all the time.
That 40 MPH crash was magical. The front bumper cover went right thru the bollard unscathed!

At 150 mph, a body would be smashed & torn to pieces.
In the fantasy world of 9-11-01, the car gets up to 400 mph and magically snaps the pole off.
Very impressive 120 and still safe in a collision.
Only because it didn't hit it strait.
If that was a full flush hit 💀💀💀
at a certain angle vs an unmovable object? forget it, you're done
I suspect the sudden stop would probably scramble your yolk.
What? It sure doesn't look safe to me. I think I'll just have to walk.
That poll wakes up hard 🎉
That pole is made of vibranium!
Moral of the story. 40 you live. Anything over, dead.
What's remarkable about this video if it accurately depicts the build quality of the vehicle in the physics involved is that it wasn't until 150 mph that there was intrusion on the main cabin past the firewall.
That means there is a high likelihood in all other scenarios below that speed that the occupants survived
Except if you really look at these crashes, they are all simulated with CGI. It's not a real crash so who knows what would really happen and how much damage would be done?
but stopping suddenly at that speed there's a good chance of fatal heart tear from momental force and broken ribs even if a belt was used so the test of the car at that speed might be a bit superfluous. The pole doesnt seem to penetrate the cabin area but the engine might, we cant really see.btw no air bags in these cars and no test dummies
Re-watch because the 120 veered off course prior to impact causing it to wrap around and be thrown. It did not impact at the same angle as the 40.
At 120, you are pretty much toast where the normal top speed is 70.
If manufacturers built for 120 crash rates, very few could afford them.
But brain damage from the brain slamming around in the skull or having your aorta torn because the heart move too far too fast or having your spinal cord snapped or having your though!
*Lesson for the day*....I'm going to stop driving around at 150mph for fear that if I crash the engine will burst through the firewall & turn into a extremely uncomfortable suppository
Noticed if airbags even worked, they were delayed
I noticed the same thing. No airbags
That is weird, because volvos are loaded with airbags. All around it
Solution: Make cars out of whatever that pole is made of.
What was the Scandinavian flick @120mph all about ?

So if you drive 40mph you will always survive a car accident.
At 12o mph it becomes a pole dancer

Very impressed that the driver would apparently survive the 150 mph crash.
😳 What’s crazy is, you could’ve survived that 120 mph crash, but you’re definitely dead in that 150 mph crash.
Anything over 80 is a possible fatality 😢
You can die in a 40mph crash. I rolled my car over on the hood and slid 100ft at 40mph. I was lucky
Retired Traffic Investigator here - had an elderly woman go forward at 5mph when she was trying to go reverse, hit a building wall, airbag deployed and she died from being crushed by the airbag. My fellow investigator measured only 12” from steering wheel to the seat. You can die at any speed.
And 40 mph is a bad accident. People who drive at 100mph and crash generally don’t survive as the cars will generally disintegrate and they get ejected of suffer catastrophic injuries.
@zenzen 80mph collisions are almost always a fatality, not the other way around. At 80 mph, the car is traveling at ~117 ft a sec. That’s driving a distance of a football field in less than 3 seconds.
Edit: there’s a thing called “delta V”, the change in velocity (from 80 mph to ~0 mph on impact) before/after an event. A serious accident is about 25. At 80 mph, your neck would probably break during the collision.
@@yingnyang2889if ur a retired traffic investigator then I'm a womble. Ur knowledge of this subject seems Non-existent
Over 80 is 95% fatal above is 100% only the kynettic energie will shatter youre body when you are in a seatbelt high risk of being decapitated as well

This is why all NHTSA Crash tests are performed at 40 MPH or less. In Europe, NCAP tests sometimes reach about 45 MPH. Crashes upwards of 60 MPH or ~100+ KPH is universally expected to be fatal. That's why _'high speed'_ crash tests, as illustrated here, are not conducted anywhere, officially.

Yep. This is a simulator. 1. NOBODY mounts a steel crash test post in the middle of a desert highway, 2. As someone else already pointed out, the bumper mysteriously flies THROUGH the post at 40MPH, 3. Some of the videos you can hear tires screeching. Where are the skid marks ????

It's almost like the car tries to avoid the Death Post!
Took me a bit to realize it was CGI.
Amazing CGI, the steam is a nice touch but no liquids,no engines, no transmissions.
I almost couldn't tell this was CGI rendering of a car hitting a pole. The only give away was the background.
We are reaching the point of reality quality graphics!
A head on crash between two cars, each traveling at 60 mph, is equal to that car hitting the pole at 120 mph.
The pole is by far the best in crash tests results , but anyone you can find 🤣🤣🤣
