  • In this video I follow up the install of the Pumpkin Android 8.0 head unit in my G35 with the install of a Veclesus C1 backup camera. This install turned out to be fairly easy as long as you know what wires to splice into for the reverse light power.

    Great video, JR. Thanks for sharing. Just wanted to add that the reverse wire is orange for 03-06 G35 sedans, and PURPLE for the coupes. If your headunit needs a trigger to switch to the reverse camera input as well, the same wire can be located under the long skinny kick panel by the driver's door.

    So sorry to bump a three year old video with a question, but I think you skipped the part showing where you ran the wire inside the passenger cabin. How did you get it from the backseat to the head unit?

      I ran it along the side under the door sill. I think I just pushed it under with a plastic pry tool and didn't actually remove the sill.

    I'm glad you did this video. I'm working on an '04 G35 sedan right now and I couldn't find that ground screw you exposed. Also, I had been told the reverse wire was purple with silver spots. I didn't want to pull all the clips from inside the trunk lid to find it. How did you know to use the orange wire?

      You can ground out to any screw just as long as it it goes into metal. I live overseas and they have reverse fog light requirements over here so I had already done the work of finding the reverse wire because I replaced one of the reverse bulbs with a red one for the reverse fog function.

      I have the same model 2004 sedan G35 ..I keep seeing also to hook it up to a purple wire with silver spots ..Do I hook it up to the purple wire for my back up camera ?

      @thomassaballa the wires I used in the video worked for my car. I’m not sure why the 2004 would be any different.

    Thank you I'll be following this guide exactly, so it's the same orange wire for cars in the United States as well?

    Hey thanks for the video I have a question, the wire you use to splice it together, whats the gauge rating ?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't worry too much about the gauge I think I just used what I had left around on hand. You're not carrying any significant current, just the signal.

    Bro I have the ugliest factory reverse camera on my car it is disgusting… how do I get rid of it?

      I can't imagine that any aftermarket camera is going to look better than the factory one. Usually the aftermarket ones look like junk.
