Austin showed me how to use an axe 🪓 in Canley, Coventry, about 45yrs ago. Now I have my own. Great axe, good 👍 technique and video.

Just got the Aby, very impressed, definitely a premium quality item. Head shape perfect, shaving sharp mirror polished edge and perfect wood grain alignment on haft.

Great stuff. I’m thinking about buying the Aby or the Ekelund Hunting Axe but I’m not sure which one. I’ll be using it for general camp use and adventures. I like the head shape more on the Aby but I’m not sure which ones best.

I have the hunting axe, you can't go wrong with it/ But if I were to buy it again it would be the Aby. It is more versatile and only 4 inches longer.

Seems like a good all round axe. But need to be careful to not hit your self with this. 👍👍👍

Nice video and nice axe. I decided to buy the ekelund hunting axe instead. Is the straight(er) edge line a actual help?

Does this axe fit well in the axe pocket on Fjallraven pants?

Nope, to heavy to be comfortable. And the Axe Handle might drag in the ground

That was so dangerous. He made no allowance for, was not prepared for a possible "barber chair" of that straight-grained tree. People have been killed because of that oversight.

Sometimes green wood is necessary. Building structures from Hazel and Willow etc, you need the timber to be green to allow the flex and avoid splitting. Green wood is easier to work with vs seasoned timber too. However, I'd never cut a live tree for no reason

The trees are beaing selectively cleared as part of a management plan to allow sunlight to reach the forest floor and encourage new growth. Any trees that are cut down are used to make charcoal or craft items.

@@andrewprice4439 Excuses... you don't kill a live tree just to pretend you'r a Survival expert on UA-cam... That's bllshit.

@@greekveteran2715 The tree was scheduled to be cut down as part of a woodland management and coppicing programme. I chose to use an axe rather than a chainsaw for the purpose of the demonstration. Selective clearing of trees in an overcrowded woodland helps to improve biodiversity by allowing sunlight to reach the forest floor. The wood is used for crafts and making charcoal. It wasn't just cut down to make a youtube video.

@@andrewprice4439 Forgive me for being that rude. It wasn't my day yesterday and in the same time, I watch all the time UA-camrs pretending they are "Survival experts", and to prove their point, they cut down live trees all the time. What makes me really angry, is the fact, that it shows, that they don't even know how to hold or how to use an axe or a knife... I'm sorry Andrew, please forgive me.
