Awesome and dead on review. Just got a sample and it’s as you say. I love it so far and the stinkyness is very pleasant very beautiful. I think your part about the fascination in bodily smells is right on with this! Thanks.
Oh, my God. Just received it today and from the first wear on my hand...Wow! I mean, wow! What a gorgeous piece of art of pure French perfumery... What a rose, what an oud, exactly the amount of animalic and skunky that is needed...But the drydown. Oh, my gosh. The drydown. The purest, classiest Sandalwood box, with tobacco leaves in it, freshly dried, just cracking slightly when you touch them, and kept with sprinkles of rose water on them. What a gorgeous creation. Thanks, Pep. On a side note, I sold Seville A L'Aube today. Begrudgingly....I loved the artistry of it, I was loving and being intrigued by the smell, but it was way too much for me to wear it. That pettigrain and orange blossom and that beeswax hits you from all angles, relentlessly. This is the most ...not necessarily beastly fragrance, is not a beast in the classic way, but the most TENACIOUS smell that you can put on you. You cannot ignore it for one second, it hits you on your nose relentlessly. So it is like if you would love a Beethoven piano sonata but you would hear it relentlessly, everywhere, in your house, in your car, in the stores, etc
I have been antsy about this scent. Thanks to your description, I cannot wait to smell it. I wore Volutes earlier this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy weekend Pep!
I’m a new subscriber! Binged a few of your reviews last night. I like your take and original thinking. I love this house. That which I like, I really love. They do it so well. And their shops are lovely and generous with samples. Nice meeting you in this virtual world. Lynn
Love the house, I've got 5 of their perfumes and I've had 3 of their candles too. Bought feu de bois yesterday, gorgeous, I recommend you look in to their candles (even just to smell them)
@@TheScentinel feuille de lavande. I think you like lavender? It's amazing. The narguille one smells almost exactly like ambre narguille and Rose smells like rose! Also, figuier smells like philosokos! Basically, most of the the candles correlate to one of the perfumes
Never got to try this one on skin. Generally not a fan of oud roses myself, mostly because of the rose, but also because they've been so played out. Glad you enjoy it Pep!
Just came across my sample of this, thank you for the video. When I was a kid in the backseat going to pick up Dad from work we had to drive past the “Stinky Cows!” It was a childhood highlight. This fragrance incorporates the feminine scent of Mom in the front seat, Dad’s pipe in the ashtray and the slightly hydrocarbon odor of the floor mats on which we hid. Lovely fragrance.
I love this one, it’s my only bottle from Diptyque as it’s so different. I went into the Selfridges department store while on a business trip to London and went to each perfume counter there and asked to smell their Oud perfumes. This was when there weren’t sooo many as there are now. I must have sniffed about 15-20 different Ouds that day, and Oud Palao was the one I bought. It’s very unique!!
I'm not familiar with too much from the house but I do love this scent , great to get your thoughts on it. You may also like rose poivree by the different company , it's not a rose oud by rose and a gorgeous use of civet
I remember first wearing this on a day when I was slightly hung over and running errands. I had this feeling I was stinking like a** and really felt uncomfortable. Once home I had to scrub it off. Fast forward to now: I'm gonna get me a bottle of it, too, and I can completely relate to what you're saying about BO. :)
Great review buddy. I really enjoy this one , very nice perfume. Have you tried Ormonde Jayne Rose Gold? I think you would like that one as well. The citrus opening make it perfect for warmer climates
ho avuto la fortuna di avere il campione e...una meraviglia, una tenuta infinita, un'ormonia e un confort costante, saro' costretto ad acquistarlo, accidenti a me!
Ahhhh the cistus!!!!! Of course. That's why I love this one so much. Never realized it was there. Cistus is the shit! :-) as for oud rose, don't like the Carner one. Like Ormonde jayne's t'aif. That's got some oud, right?
@@TheScentinel no, because it just attracts me. Have been trying to find seeds or the plant to put in my garden, but it seems to be more of a mountain plant (rock rose). Am curious what the plant smells like
It's also a place in Laos, though. Might just be a straightforward tribute to the oud of that country. But interpretations are fun and who can say with orientals, right? Anyway, finally this classic gets its own review, Pep. This just might be it for me for rose-ouds. Just got my Rogue and my Olympic Orchids samples, however, so might have to wait!

Spot on review, agree totally. My favourite "oud rose" fragrance.
Oh, and do try Terryfic Oud Extrême/By Terry - just the smoothest rose with skanky oud and powdered sugar sprayed on top!
Thank you
Sampled this one early in my journey before I could appreciated it so I just ordered another sample in a haul.
best review my dear:) i don`t understand why ur chanel so underrated
Thank you.
Great review and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try it and have a blessed day

15-20? The fact that it stood out was a great sign.

Oh...rose and civet has my interest
Excellent review Pep. I really like this one a lot and it’s definitely ‘on my list’. Australian Cynicism in the note breakdown too! 👏😂
😁
Love this in my collection. Dirty and rosey.
I also agree that this is a well balanced oud rose. Lovely review!
Thanks Yve x
Good review! Btw my favourite is 7 Moons from Blend Oud, give it a try if you have a chance 🙂

Yeah, but the deep dry down is so warm and comforting too. I am literally looking for the best price as we speak.
Also, i am sure a hangover always makes you think you smell worse than you do😁
@@TheScentinel True, I actually missed this comforting, almost vanillic part until now!
Lol, my bottle of Oud Palao didn't come with that last ingredient of Australian Cynicism...I feel ripped off!

Everything's open again so i should be able to sniff it. Cheers Matt.
@@TheScentinel brilliant. Its such a great one. Meanwhile over here it looks like everything is going to be shutting again.. .😪

I'm curious to hear your take on Tom Ford's Black Orchid since it's a huge fragrance in the fragrance community. :)

👍. It's pu-la-oo.. it's a rice dish prepared by Indian basmati rice.
I think this might be attempt to capture the scent of freshly cooked 🍚 stream 🙏
Oh, thank you for that. Interesting if that is what they were trying to capture

U really think they named this after pilau rice? I seriously doubt that
"Australian Cynicism" LMAO!
Good perfume though😁
