Great discussion. It should be noted that Model 3 Performance vehicles produced and sold outside of the US will have 50 less hp and slightly slower sprint times due to a different battery pack. I'm not sure whether Canada will have the US built packs, as Tesla is prioritizing Panasonic packs for US vehicles to benefit from the tax credits for domestically built batteries. The Long Range Model 3 does not qualify for the $7,500 tax credit currently, so the Performance model is actually cheaper for US buyers that qualify for the credit.

I appreciate the positive attitude about the new stories, looks like you’ve been doing videos in the space for a while but just started doing news. Personally, I would appreciate more stories about legislation, underlying technology like batteries, and analysis of both the effectiveness of current and upcoming vehicles, as well as information about what consumers are reacting to regarding electric vehicles.
Personally, I would greatly appreciate any stories about electric vehicles that are a lot simpler, that is have minimal infotainment systems.
You also might do well to include stories about anything regarding right to repair electric vehicles, Electric charging infrastructure, home charging, vehicle to load systems, and data about PHEVs.
I know that last one is controversial among some electric vehicle advocates, but I have a personal perspective that is that if vehicles are being sold, they all should be plug-in hybrids but at least 40 miles of battery only range, and the ability for the driver to choose to run electric only. The Chevy volt was the perfect plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in my view, as it allowed for these, and you only had to run the engine I think six months or so.
In any case, it’s useful for those of us who want to tell our friends who Don’t trust electric vehicles which plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are available for them that will allow them to get used to electric vehicles while still feeling comfortable they can drive the way they currently do. Every gas car sold was a PHEV, that would put hundreds of thousands if not millions of electric vehicles that happened to also be able to run on gas on the roads. This would allow a lot of different things, including the opportunity for cities to require electric mode only vehicles within their borders. It is still going to take at least 10 years to transition the vehicle fleet of new cars to electric only, and gas cars are still gonna be out there for probably 25 years.
Every new car should be a plug-in hybrid so I encourage you to look into stories that discuss that. there’s also a claim that plug-in hybrid owners don’t know their cars can plug-in, so the more information about that, the better we’re going to be.

Thank you for joining and tuning in to this week's episode!
We have a sub channel we launched recently which dives deeper into Industry topics: UA-cam.com/@Miss GoElectricIndustry
We will be launching an EV education series soon - the writing is complete, just need to film and edit 🙂
We personally don't like the complexity and costs associated with owning a PHEV in comparison to a BEV and leave that up to other channels to cover.
I have been working in the auto business for about 15 years and during my time launching new products for car companies, I have done my fair share of PHEV launches. Plus the interactions I have had over the years with this channel has led to witnessing and hearing about thousands of use cases where it was revealed to me that PHEV owners don't plug in and don't get all the benefits of driving electric (but they can claim a tax credit).
This is one reason why we don't cover PHEVs here and do the tough work of BEV education. But I do appreciate your thoughts and sharing your perspective on the topic.
Regardless, we hope you stay tuned because there is a lot more content coming this year 🤓

@@MissGoElectric Thanks for your thoughtful response
I will simple respond that abandoning PHEV education is simply going to make things worse since we are at least a decade away from the end of ICE sales. Abandoning PHEV coverage is just going to mean more pure ICE vehicles on the road.

    • @MissGoElectric
      @MissGoElectric  5 місяців тому

We aren't abandoning hybrids because we have never covered PHEV. If a vehicle has a gas tank and a muffler, we aren't interested.
There are audiences for all kinds of things, most of which we would not consider pivoting towards.
We know that staying close to our expertise and values will continue to yield the best outcome for our business and our conscience. -Producer Tim

Follows a few other German car companies, and of course the Ram eTruck. At least a several decades ago when Subaru had a young boy make "vroom, vroom" sounds in their WRX commercials, it was a cute joke. Seems like those little playful boys are now part of the target market of 30 somethings, though it's doubtful any of them can afford it.
No pricing on the G850 yet, how much over $100 grand will it be, whenever it is actually available?
When I was a little kid, we used to clothespin playing cards or balloons to our bike wheels to get the same effect for a few cents. Based on the phantasmagorical wheel designs nowadays on cars, it would be an extremely economical accessory add-on; certainly less than the thousands of $ for the cars announced with this "feature"😁

As an EQS 580 owner, I feel the G-series noise is dumb and foolish. Sadly, MB tries to hold onto their gas vehicles attributes like non-functional front grill, unnecessary Start/Stop button, and no walk-away locking. Its rear wheel steering is better than Porsche. When will MB engineers learn how to add a highly desired frunk?

Battery developments are moving quickly, and mining is catching up with demand, so it shouldn't be too long before they get their EV business in gear.

Since FSD moved to an entirely neural (AI) software stack, the rate of progress has improved by many orders of magnitude. Now that artificial intelligence is at work making improvements, instead of a room full of coders writing algorithms, the rate of progress will continue to accelerate. The fleet of millions of vehicles is sending about a billion miles of real world driving data to the learning centers every two months. What used to take years is taking days or hours.

It's a strange thing to make something nearly silent then make it make a bunch of noise... 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Another great episode!
Audio note: There's some kind of distortion riding under the voice. Might be the electronics in the wireless mic, or the mic input. I would experiment with alternative equipment to see if it clears up.

      Hi David,
Each week we record in a different environment and city. While we always use the same equipment and try to stick with the consistent settings. While there was no audio clipping this week, we did do some post processing to remove some undesirable background noise. This processing introduced a slight degradation in vocal clarity compared to the previous seven episodes, but it is the lesser of available evils on this run-and-gun shoot. We hope Miss GoElectric is easy to understand in this video and we'll continue to deliver the highest quality product we can given the production and time constraints associated with filming and publishing in the same day each week. Thank you for watching and commenting.

I think the fake engine sounds should be optional. I would love it most times but sometimes silence is good. Easy to turn off and on.

It was suspended on March 1st. We started this series immediately to avoid skipping a beat and improve on information density.
The official Motor1 Network explanation for cancellation is in the final, 200th episode.
