Ok sorry if this is a stupid question but how can u tell if the wrapping is original and not something that someone paid for to get wrapped?? Everyone wants a sealed game but how do you know it's the original seal??
I think there are certain details to look for depending on the game. Certain companies have specific seals that most likely couldn’t be replicated without specific detail or knowledge
I'm a UK collector so did this happen? Tbh people grading switch games is a joke but I enjoy collecting sealed games. Haven't graded any of them though and the UK grading company seems to be doing some sketchy things also as they verified some resealed halo games from what I could tell
Definitely your fault for not checking, but also if something they are selling them as “sealed” and have them in that extra wrapping, I feel like that’s misleading.
No, if the wrapper is removed it’s no longer sealed and loses most of its value. Also the grading actually takes the quality of the wrapper into account, as some games are initially packaged by nintendo/sony/microsoft better than other games.
it blows my mind what people will pay for when there is some extra plastic wrap lol i have 15 exo squad toys bnib that i bought at a show for 10 dollars each. he was asking 15 each and 20 for the 3 large walker style bots. as i bought all of them i talked him down to 10 each. this was 10 years ago. i had no idea what they were worth. i just loved exo squad from when i was 12 years old. because they all of the original tape sealing them in the box they are 100 to 500 dollars each. it turns out the 3 cyberview characters are worth a lot. if someone had cut the tape, pulled the toy out to look at it then price would be cut in half. just crazy to me. only problem i have is my kids keep bugging me open them so they can play with them.
The preservation in its original condition is worth a bit to be honest imo but putting it in a slab is a different level and I feel should only apply for things of a certain rarity or age. Grading switch or xbox one / ps4 or 5 games is nuts
Was nes pixalated?I never really seen my nes pixalated back then on a crt on a nes counsel. I got my nnes elaborate smooth matched to my scanlines with almost no pixalated but with depth with my games but I seeca lot changes who love pixalated sharp images with defects that back then was hidden by blurr, scanlines into a sharp smooth deep image.
Caleb, in your opinion, do you think it would be worth a shot getting a sealed Windwaker on gamecube graded? It has a small break in the top corner of the seal.
I find it quite stupid that the 'international version' 'doesn't hold as much value' as I'm sure said intl version doesn't sell as much as the 'american' version. I get it, people in the US love their american versions of games that were (mostly) first released in Japan, manufactured in Japan, etc. But it's dumb that this 'rarity' is based on arbitrary conditions and not the actual rarity of the game. And there's something to be said about SSB Brawl being a beloved game, when it's pretty much the most maligned of the series.
is it really that stupid when people in america can only play games from america? The price is based on demand and with a lot of nintendo consoles especially you can only play NA games on american consoles , so no one is trying to buy them, so getting a JP or European copy has a lot less value cause it's not playable.
@@christianjones9801 I understand the reasoning but it is also funny how we call games that are going to be sealed forever in a hard plastic case "playable" in comparison to those.
@@christianjones9801 Yes. Yes it is. The point itself isn't the region. Is the way america region games are held above others. Yes, with region locked consoles you may have an issue. But these world version games are just american games with a logo on the cover, that's it. I know, I have one. Playable on any American console. They're probably rarer than the millions of american copies in the market. And the region lock started really with newer consoles. NES? Based on plastic. SNES? N64? Same. From Game boy to NDS all region free. But for some reason, it's american games that hold value over perfectly playable games from other regions. Not sure if it's ignorance, though.
Random comment... How do you know all the stuff you buy is going to sell? What if you buy $1000 worth of games and you sell half of it? And does it take a while for it to sell??
The sealed and graded price jump is absolutely ridiculous... its the same game in the same condition...having a case and the grade makes no sense to make a game worth 10 times more
I find this stuff pretty interesting, but it's just so weird to me that people care about the seal itself. I always thought the allure of getting a sealed game was that you were the first person to touch the disc and the manual and stuff.
Not going to lie I thought that exact thing when you bought those. I thought to myself he didn't seem to care too much about the vendor telling him those were his best sealed ones earlier

It was suppose to be 2 full games and DLC but the publisher screwed up and only put the Multiplayer mode on the disc.
