As to Singapore, it is incomparable to a country like the UK, I suspect British people would find law enforcement a real drag fairly quickly given their predilection for throwing rubbish everywhere and taking no responsibility for their immediate environment.
I don't know about Singapore but never use Japan as an example of handling crime well It's impossible to get a 90%+ conviction rate without violating everyone's rights, wether through heavy monitoring basically insuring no one has privacy or convicting everyone regardless if they're innocent or not And last I checked in Japan they can hold you indefinitely if they can't convict you until you "confess" Also you don't get one of the highest self game over in the world from a happy population Also also I've never heard anything about freedom from Japan but that's just my personal experience

Half of courts have been closed over the last ten years. Add a massive increase in child poverty and atrocious housing problems and the situation is tailor made for an increase in crime.
