G'day Paul, well underway putting that engine back together, thanks for all the advice you pass along, as I have the almost the same motorcycle any tips on repairs or rebuilds are very informative, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Hi Neil, to be honest, I have an advance/retard lever on the 500 greenlaner I have, but I have never pulled it back from full advance while riding it, even for the rougher off road stuff I have done with it, but maybe in a very slow trials section, it might come in handy.

Hi Paul on the subject of oil, do you have a preferred brand that you always use?
I mainly use 20/50 mineral oil for the classics, with Morris's, Valvoline and Elf all having been used at different times, with no real preference.
@paulhenshaw4514 thanks for your reply- are those all the low detergent types like Golden Film?
I guess so, Golden Film is a Morris's name.
Seems odd missing out the auto-advance on a bike which may need superb bottom end 'plonk'. I would do it on a road going bike. Odd things, customers.
