1. Exposure levels check histogram
2. Level horizons in camera using level function.
3. Shutter speed - fast or slow as appropriate - blurry photos with slower speed. If taking long exposures - use timer or remote shutter release.
4. Aperture size - what is in focus? Use big aperture for lower depth of field ( smaller number e.g. 1.8 etc ), smaller for more depth of field ( bigger number, e.g. 11 ).
For landscapes use more depth of field (larger NUMBER), for portraits use smaller depth of field to isolate person/s (smaller NUMBER).
The closer the lens to the subject the less the depth of field and vice versa. Might have to use focus stacking if required.
5. Change orientation for different compositions - landscape or portrait orientation.

You mentioned three elements, unfortunately you forgot another very important one, that of Metering! Knowing what metering is , the various metering modes and how to meter is as important as any other when creating a photo! If for instance a camera was set to spot metering and the user wasn’t aware they’d go completely bonkers trying to work out why their adjustments to exposure, shutter speed and aperture were making little difference to their end result! I meet many photographers who are frustrated because they can’t get the images they want, many of them wrongly assume that the camera ‘knows’ what their end result should look like! lol. Understanding how to use a camera in full manual mode is actually the first place to start, especially as with digital cameras the net results can be displayed in front of their eyes in real time! The ideal place to start in my opinions is Light, Metering, camera controls ( and how their adjustments affect the light our cameras see) Without a metered scene the camera or camera user can have no idea what setting are needed unless of course a level of experience had been achieved. Anyone can take a photo, creating the photo the user intended and desires is key! I’m just saying because I see so many videos aimed at instructing the inexperienced !!! Cheers.
My issue is still using a dslr lol I wanna go mirrorless but just so expensive and I'm broke and selling your old camera good freaking luck. No one wants it
DSLR definitely isn't bad! Don't get caught up with getting new gear. Learn how to get the best out of what you have and one day you can progress with the skills you've learned! I used to only have a cheap Canon crop sensor and a 50mm lens. Limiting yourself also pushes your creativity! 👍👍
