Ah, the developpe in the wonderful Adagio.
This fancy French word might seem intimidating at first, but fear not, my dear adult ballet friend!
I'll break it down for you in simple steps, to make it more enjoyable.
    So, what is a developpe?🤔
Well, it's a movement where you lift one leg and extend it straight up in the air while keeping your body stable and balanced. It's like saying "Hey world, check out my cool party trick!"
To do a developpe, follow these steps 👇
    Step 1️⃣
Stand up straight with your feet together and your hands on your hips. Take a deep breath and find your balance.
    Step 2️⃣
Shift your weight onto one leg (let's say your right leg for now) and lift the other leg off the ground, keeping your knee bent and your foot pointed.
    Step 3️⃣
Slowly straighten your lifted leg, while keeping your hips level and your standing leg strong. Imagine there's a string attached to your foot, pulling it up towards the ceiling.
    Step 4️⃣
Once your leg is fully extended, hold it there for a few seconds and enjoy the feeling of being a graceful ballet dancer. You can even add a little flourish with your arm, like lifting it overhead or to the side.
    Step 5️⃣
Lower your leg back down to the ground with control, and repeat on the other side.
See, that wasn't so bad, was it? 😉
Of course, like with any ballet movement, it takes practice and patience to master the developpe.
But remember, the journey is just as important as the destination, so enjoy the process and have fun with it!
And if you ever feel frustrated or overwhelmed, just remember this quote from legendary ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov:
✏️ "I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself."
Keep that in mind, and you'll be developpe-ing like a pro in no time!
Get ready to embark on this exciting adventure and discover the incredible world of classical ballet! 💃🕺

Could you make a video on proper hip positioning/leg alignment for the developpe a la seconde? My teacher has told me to bring my a la seconde slightly more forward to maintain proper rotation and prevent my hip from lifting, but now I'm never sure when to place it in a true second or the modified position

Enjoying these classes very much. My left leg, especially, comes way off the side lift and the foot drifts towards the front. How can I improve this? Where is the strength needed and how to engage those muscles correctly?
