Captain Howdy is the name of the demon in the original Exorcist movie. The name is only mentioned once in the movie. The girl says "I'm playing with Captain Howdy"
You mentioned once that you really respected the way Marilyn Manson spoke...Dee Snyder is just as eloquent, well spoken and very very intelligent...him taking Congress to pieces back in the days of "The Satanic Panic" was just beautiful to watch! As a lawyer you really should check it out, he would have made an amazing lawyer!
Twisted sister is one of the best 80s band, and one of the best life bands. The whole Stay Hungry album is great. Would be awsome to see you check out some more TS
he didnt take them on he estroyed them and basicly won because congress ordered to have explicit lyrics stickers attached to records tapes and eventually cds which help sales for more $$$ for kids to ebel against their parents
Alex look at the pmrc court hearings. They were trying to ban metal. Dee was the spokes person for metal. You'll find it very Interesting because your in law and this is about metal. You can thank Dee. Because of him we still have metal.
This is my favorite Twisted Sister song. A.J. Pero (the drummer) died on March 20th, 2015. I remembered when he died cause he passed away on my birthday.
This may be the most underrated song from TS!! It's my favorite from the band. To answer your question. The video shows both live performances and rehearsals! In which the guitarist is tuning his guitar. And yes, they have their own tuners and at times they tune their own guitars while rehearsing!
My favorite T.S track is ",I am, I'm me". I'm in my 50s and when i first heard it as a kid a knew that was the track i wanted to be played at my funeral lol. And I'm not particularly a T.S fan, but that track just rock's. Obviously don't know if you've heard it, but if not give that a listen, garrantee you'll get something out of it.
Falling In Reverse - The Drug In Me Is You Reimagined Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home Chevelle - Forfeit, The Red, Still Running, The Clincher, Get Some, Straight Jacket Fashion, The Fad, Humanoid, I Get It, Sleep Apnea, This Circus, Face to the Floor, Same Old Trip, Hats Off to the Bull Demon Hunter - Not I, Collapsing, One Thousand Apologies
I saw them front row twice in ‘84 (once in a bar and 3 months later when Iron Maiden picked them up for their tour!) and they are so much fun to see!! If you want to heavier side, and quite simply an amazing song, check out Under the Blade! You’ll love it!
Hey Alex, in answer to your question about which member is J.J. French, he's the guitarist that's playing the yellow and black guitar and always wearing sunglasses, he's also the founder of this band Fun Fact: J.J. French had gotten into music as a way of kicking a drug addiction ( which is really ironic considering that it usually goes the opposite way around)
I've never heard this song, I heard TS had a power ballad and it was totally believable because everyone had a power ballad I just never actively looked for it until now and it's hot
There’s a movie with Dee Snider in it as the main antagonist, called Strangeland. A pierced and tattooed sadist, Captain Howdy (Dee Snider), trolls the Internet for naive teens, luring them to his home to torture and defile them. When Howdy kidnaps and tortures the daughter of police Detective Mike Gage (Kevin Gage), he is caught. Deemed insane, he is sent to an asylum but is released soon after, seemingly better. However, Gage knows it is only a matter of time before Howdy strikes again, and he's ready to unleash his own form of retribution when the time comes. Released in 1998.
This song is from the More commercial era of Sister. Check out the albums you can’t stop rock n roll and under the blade. Much more of a bar band blues driven hard rock.
Double-neck guitars usually have 2 different guitar "styles". Most of them have a 6 strings guitar and a 12 strings guitar. Recently, more and more varieties come out, such as a guitar and a bass, a 6 strings guitar and a 7 or 8 strings guitar. I have personally never saw a double-neck guitar that had 2 6 strings guitars except for Michael Angello Batio that has a left-handed and a right-handed on the same guitar.
This song came out when I was 16 and means so much to me. It got me through a lot of troubled teen days, no mental health day for me, just listened to a good tune.
Yes. Twisted Sister. This is great one to choose from that's not We're Not Gonna Take It. This is about traveling on the road playing in a band. Missing the family.
Growing up Twusted Sister was and still is a favorite band of mine. As a kid who spent months in the hospital and surgery to walk I missed my family. I would hear this song and feel it so much. Many of the bands album songs are way better than the hits they had.
I got to see them in concert and they were f***ing awesome live. Dee is so fun to watch as a lead singer. The drummer brought out glowing drum sticks and they turned out the lights and you got to see his hands go to work. It was really badass
Lyrics of this particular song come into perspective, "makes you wander if it is worth it to carry on.." for us growing up, in those times, helped us to make this voyage more pleasent, and look back and say, yes it was fucking worth it!!!
Their first UK gig was in my home town of Wrexham, North Wales ... A few eyes opened that day upon seeing Dee (also the name of the river that flows past the town) walking about in full make up 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Twisted Sister is my all time favorite band. They're grossly underrated because of the few singles that everyone knows, but only know those songs because they never delved into TS's huge catalogue of music. I've seen them, met them and despite the seriousness of The Price, that was just A.J's personality (drummer). Every time I met him, he was smiling, laughing, joking around and making others laugh. He was an awesome guy! RIP AJ. Although Twisted Sister poked fun, and never took themselves seriously (their most popular videos being a representation of Wile E. Coyote cartoons) they were at the forefront of the most serious issues of the time, like Dee representing the entirety of the music recording industry along side only two other artists (John Denver and Frank Zappa) who stood up for ALL artists in regards to censorship. The vast majority of TS's songs speak positive messages, and Dee Snider's unmistakable heavy (and ongoing) solo work continues to be relevant and positive today. If I may suggest what I think should be the quintessential Twisted Sister reaction video... It HAS to be at the start of their signed days when they played a show with Lemmy from Motorhead (who was a friend and fan). It perfectly showcases how well Dee Snider controls a crowd. Twisted Sister "It's only Rock n Roll (but I like it). It's on youtube, and it's an 11:23 masterclass in being a frontman of a rock band.
For a classic Twisted Video, check out "Be Chrool to Your Scuel". Much better that the 2 airplay hits they have. It features Alice Cooper vocals (and in video), Brian Setzer (Stray Cats) on guitar and Clarence Clemmons (from Bruce Springsteen). As someone who lived through their days as a bar band, they were beasts on the NYC club circuit in the 70's and 80's. They never really captured the same live energy they were famous for on the studio albums. Here is 1982 concert video: ua-cam.com/video/K2LjOhmcq1s/v-deo.html This is from their 9/11 benefit concert that got them back together: ua-cam.com/video/bwDJvDV0SpE/v-deo.html This video is from 1980 when they converted a Brooklyn disco where "Saturday Night Fever" was filmed, into a Metal Club. The quality isn't great but the energy is undeniable.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's, Twisted Sister was one of the bands I grew up on in my latter primary school years (year 5/6) We're Not Gonna Take it, being the first song if theirs I heard, and found the album " Stay Hungry" and copied it on cassette, loved it from beginning to end, some heavy riffs and great vocals with some creepy storylines like Captain Howdy, and I loved it like a horror movie, 🤘🤘👌👍
You should check out Dee Sniders solo song "For The Love Of Metal" the lyrics are all titles of other metal songs. Definitely not a tame song like this was.
Dee doing a bit of a Roger Daltrey impression around 4:50. : ) I bought Stay Hungry as a new album in '84 and I remember this video well. Seen Sister live 4 times and got to meet Dee once, briefly, at a signing in 2004 when he was signing his Van Helsing spoken word CD. He was pretty gracious and cool in that admittedly brief moment. ; )
The album STAY HUNGRY was twisted sisters biggest selling album,I don't think it had a bad song on it I bought it when the video we're not gonna take it came out...back in 1984 I was 13 years old...man I feel old lol...this is a great song and video...
I bought this album in 1984 and played upstairs in my boysroom and my dad almost acted like Douglac C 😁 (The pissed off guy in the "I wanna Rock video")
Dee Snyder=one of the most underrated vocalists ever! I've been a TS fan since I grew ears pretty much! It's in my blood and I will always love them! Not only are they talented and fuckin rock, but ya gotta LOVE Dee Snyder's over the top fuck you to the cookie cutter hair band look! Pure fuckin metal!! Btw, if you want a better, yet underplayed Twisted Sister tune, check out "Burn In Hell!"
This is totally random, but you should react to some of the songs from the Broadway musical RENT. It's on it's 25th anniversary farewell tour, so it's a perfect time for it!
GREAT SONG!!! The entire Stay Hungry album is also GREAT! This band, as songwriters & musicians are CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. Especially Dee as a singer! He delivers this song beautifully. And if he saw your reaction he'd probably enjoy it. He interacts with fans on Twitter all the time. You should reach out to him. 🤟
Dee Snyder is still rocking as hell! Seen Twisted Sister few times incl. the farewell tour 40 years and fuck it! and Dee solo tour. Unbelievable what is he doing on stage!
A.J Pero is hands down 1 of the most underrated drummers of all time. My favourite twisted sister video is the song "Tear It Loose" live at Reading in 1982. That was twisted sister at their absolute best and way less tame 🤘🤘
I always loved Dee's voice. And he was always a hot ticket! If you noticed SMF on the guitar, I would definitely react to that song. Also Come Out and Play and Stay Hungry. AND... if you want some major creepiness, check out Dee's movie Stangeland! Eeeeeek!
If you like this ballad, try "I Believe In You". My dad (a school teacher) printed out the lyrics to it and presented it to his class as a poem by "D. Snyder". When they were done reading and analyzing, etc., he then played it for them. Of course, for social studies, he played Iron Maiden's "Alexander the Great" during that lesson so...
Actually, when the bass player is tuning his bass they're not in a live performance, they're actually in a rehearsal (that's why they're in street clothing rather than the outfits they're known for wearing on stage)
Twisted sister is one of my favourite live bands all-time! The performance, the music, the crowd are always on point! I've seen them a few times and am very happy and sad to have seen there last performance on Graspop metal meeting a few years ago, they were the closing act of the Friday night with a lot more bands to get on the stage in the following days, i can say it was hand's down the best live performance I've ever seen ANY band do! Rain was pouring down on 80,000 metalheads, Dee did a fuck god speech and made all of us raise our middle fingers to the sky before blasting "we're not gonna take it" and that song was sung by everyone throughout the whole weekend!!! Such a fucking fantastic weekend it was, soaking wet, covered in mud and nobody gave a f*CK after that single performance!!! @ Alex if you ever want to go to Graspop metal meeting in Belgium, hit me up and I will pay for your ticket and I promise you'll have the best 5 day weekend of your life!
Love me some Twisted Sister!! This was my favorite song before I discovered Home Sweet Home. In turn this was my favorite band until I discovered Mötley Crüe. Also, love the Breaking Bad in the background.
I really like this song as I am a fan of rock ballads 😊 Another great song to check out is Hearts Burst Into Fire by Bullet for my Valentine which is also about the trials and tribulations of being on tour for so long.
This is honestly my favorite Twisted Sister song
Captain Howdy is the name of the demon in the original Exorcist movie.

id love to see Alex react to his hearing with Congress it was amazing he is a smart dude for sure
Yes, Alex needs to react Dee's speech in the Congerss
I agree I would like to see Alex react to the PMRC hearings, but I think he should do the Zappa, Snider and Denver testimonies.
@@cnut5475 I agree but he should save Dee's testimony for last for comedic effect.
Here's the link
ua-cam.com/video/j0YXfeNxJJ0/v-deo.html
Alex why don't you watch Dee snider take on congress! He single handedly saved heavy metal
👍👍
Dee puts Tipper Gore in her place.
Facts
Twisted sister is one of the best 80s band, and one of the best life bands. The whole Stay Hungry album is great. Would be awsome to see you check out some more TS
"Street Justice" is just as true today with violent felons and leinient prosecutors.
"SMF" another classic
Facts
he didnt take them on he estroyed them and basicly won because congress ordered to have explicit lyrics stickers attached to records tapes and eventually cds which help sales for more $$$ for kids to ebel against their parents
Alex look at the pmrc court hearings. They were trying to ban metal. Dee was the spokes person for metal. You'll find it very Interesting because your in law and this is about metal. You can thank Dee. Because of him we still have metal.
YES!!! ☝🏼this right here!
That trial wasn’t to “ban metal”
This is my favorite Twisted Sister song. A.J. Pero (the drummer) died on March 20th, 2015. I remembered when he died cause he passed away on my birthday.
Dee’s voice is amazing. Even today he is kicking arse.
🤘ua-cam.com/video/Ida37H7aXbc/v-deo.html 🤘
60 years old and in better shape than some in their 30s!
Dee Snider's voice has so much power and emotion he's definitely in my top five favorite singers of all time❤
Man, this is a great song from them. Keep on listening to more from them. Burn In Hell is greatness...give it a listen
This may be the most underrated song from TS!! It's my favorite from the band.

If you have not you HAVE to watch Dee testify in front of the US Senate. It is awesome!!!
Oh should check out Horror Terria(Captain Howdy/Street Justice) off the same album Stay Hungry
I never realized who Captain Howdy was until years later when I finally watched the Exorcist!!!
Want to see something messed up? Check out Strangland the movie! That screwed my mind up, Dee Shnider is one heck of an actor!
For me You can't stop Rock and roll kicks ass 🤘
Great tune loved it for decades.
Falling In Reverse - The Drug In Me Is You Reimagined
Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home
Chevelle - Forfeit, The Red, Still Running, The Clincher, Get Some, Straight Jacket Fashion, The Fad, Humanoid, I Get It, Sleep Apnea, This Circus, Face to the Floor, Same Old Trip, Hats Off to the Bull
Demon Hunter - Not I, Collapsing, One Thousand Apologies
listen to "Burn in hell" and "Under the blade!" trust me!
I saw them front row twice in ‘84 (once in a bar and 3 months later when Iron Maiden picked them up for their tour!) and they are so much fun to see!! If you want to heavier side, and quite simply an amazing song, check out Under the Blade! You’ll love it!
Was that the Powerslave tour? I saw them as well.
Cool! Caught them on the same tour with Maiden in Montreal. Was 14 at the time...
80s Metal bands use to tour 18 months at a time basically coming home every couple of years for a few months then leaving again.
Beautiful song!
I was a kid in My 15 when this song was released... I love it.
Hey Alex, in answer to your question about which member is J.J. French, he's the guitarist that's playing the yellow and black guitar and always wearing sunglasses, he's also the founder of this band

Okay... okay... I finally did it. I followed Koby on IG. "LET THE FITNESS-NESS BEGIN!" All the best my amazing amigos!

Thanks to you I'm continuing discovering new music and awesome songs ☺️☺️
Dude. Cant believe you played this. Most people dont even know this song exists. Great fucking choice.
This song is from the More commercial era of Sister. Check out the albums you can’t stop rock n roll and under the blade. Much more of a bar band blues driven hard rock.

This was my favorite song of theirs. If I hear "We're not going to take it" one more time I'm going to stick ice picks in both ears.
One of the best songs ever!
This song came out when I was 16 and means so much to me. It got me through a lot of troubled teen days, no mental health day for me, just listened to a good tune.
Omg!! I love this song!!! One of my fave songs!!
Dude, thanks for that bit of nostalgia.
Looking at this video guys for the first time. Commenting on hair and clothes. This was the 80s. Do more Twisted Sister.
My first concert. 6 Feb 1986. Kemper Arena. It was a banger!
Yes. Twisted Sister. This is great one to choose from that's not We're Not Gonna Take It. This is about traveling on the road playing in a band. Missing the family.
I know of Twisted Sister but i think this is the first time ive actually heard one of their songs. I really liked it!
Growing up Twusted Sister was and still is a favorite band of mine. As a kid who spent months in the hospital and surgery to walk I missed my family. I would hear this song and feel it so much. Many of the bands album songs are way better than the hits they had.
This is a long time favorite. Thanks Alex!!!
I have heard this don't know where I but have heard this before
This is one of my favorite songs from them
Aww man, had this one player at my father's funeral, amazing song 🤘🤘
I got to see them in concert and they were f***ing awesome live. Dee is so fun to watch as a lead singer. The drummer brought out glowing drum sticks and they turned out the lights and you got to see his hands go to work. It was really badass
In some of the 70's era they did over 200 shows a year before even released an official album. Thats nuts...
The drummer passed away some years back.
Highway to Hell by AC/DC is also about the rigors of on the road touring.
The guy from Twisted Sister probably did more tuning on stage than anyone I've ever seen.
About time somebody reviewed this underrated song. Just subscribed first time coming across ur channel. Keep up good work
Lyrics of this particular song come into perspective, "makes you wander if it is worth it to carry on.." for us growing up, in those times, helped us to make this voyage more pleasent, and look back and say, yes it was fucking worth it!!!

TS is a great band!
The scenes without the makeup on is during the sound checks before the show so thats where you see them tuning and goofing around.
The fire still burns
One of my favorite Twisted Sister songs... It just gut punches you.

I use Floyd Rose whammy bridges. Solved my tuning problems back in 85 for good.
How about Captain Howdy?
I love this song!
Always tuning, they will change guitars or bass if song in different keys, bass players can play in a different key and not change generally!
I haven't heard a song from them I didn't like. One of my all time favorite bands
These guys kill it! Under the Blade kicks a ton of asssss
He was pretty gracious and cool in that admittedly brief moment. ; )
Finally Twisted Sister! I would love to see more.
Very strange choice for a first song though..
By far my favorite TS song.
This is by far my favorite TS song. Dee really gets to show off his power on this song.
Ah man, love me some Twisted Sister (hell my screen name comes from one of their songs), but damn do I miss AJ Pero, the drummer. What a legend. RIP
The album STAY HUNGRY was twisted sisters biggest selling album,I don't think it had a bad song on it I bought it when the video we're not gonna take it came out...back in 1984 I was 13 years old...man I feel old lol...this is a great song and video...
I bought this album in 1984 and played upstairs in my boysroom and my dad almost acted like Douglac C 😁
(The pissed off guy in the "I wanna Rock video")
That hair, gentlemen, is why they're called a hair band
Dee Snyder=one of the most underrated vocalists ever! I've been a TS fan since I grew ears pretty much! It's in my blood and I will always love them! Not only are they talented and fuckin rock, but ya gotta LOVE Dee Snyder's over the top fuck you to the cookie cutter hair band look! Pure fuckin metal!! Btw, if you want a better, yet underplayed Twisted Sister tune, check out "Burn In Hell!"
You can't beat 80's metal. Best era
Boys this is the best baladas of all time respect
Dream state - twenty letters.
Finch - bitemarks and bloodstains
Soilwork - nerve
You guys should totally listen to Out on the Streets by Twisted Sister. Also, GREAT VID!!!
Unbelievable what is he doing on stage!
to the tuning question: Check out Jon Gomm - Passionflower, you absolutely will not regret it
A.J Pero is hands down 1 of the most underrated drummers of all time.
Eeeeeek!
You should watch We Are Twisted Sister on the free service Tubi to see how long they fought to get a contract.
If you like this ballad, try "I Believe In You". My dad (a school teacher) printed out the lyrics to it and presented it to his class as a poem by "D. Snyder". 0:34 I'm sorry slap your what type of day? LMAO
Look at "When Twisted Sister Out Classed Congress" its awesome!
Also the double checked guitar is to have a 12-string guitar which gives it a fuller sound
JJ is JJ French who was a member of Twisted Sister.
Gen X will forever rock. Life makes you. Don't worry boys. A few more kicks in em. You'll get it
My favorite Metal Ballad.
He (Dee Snider) wrote Stay Hungry for Arnold Schwarzenegger if memory serves. Dee was ripped too.
Love me some Twisted Sister!! This was my favorite song before I discovered Home Sweet Home. In turn this was my favorite band until I discovered Mötley Crüe.
Also, love the Breaking Bad in the background.
Love this song and Captain Howdy better than anything else Twister Sister has ever done.
That tuning is the bass, during rehearsal footage.
J.J. French was the guitarist.. very underrated!!
I really like this song as I am a fan of rock ballads 😊 Another great song to check out is Hearts Burst Into Fire by Bullet for my Valentine which is also about the trials and tribulations of being on tour for so long.
