I met Dee (the singer) at a store I worked at a few years back. I said "Hey, I saw you open for Iron Maiden when I was 14." he looked me up and down and said "looks like you turned out OK" and went about his business. FWIW.
Love this song, I'm a 80s teenager and I love all 80s music rock, rap, country, soul, we had the absolute best music ever!! Run dmc oh my loved them lol!! And every rock band had to have at least one ballad or love ballad on their albums I guess that is what made it so universal!!
In short. This song was written by Dee Snider as a result of taking so many years before the band which right at this time started finding some success and he had been away from home (his wife and son) for 4 months straight. He was saying over the phone how depressed he was to his friend (bandmate) Jay Jay French and said: "I guess this is the price you have to pay". And the rest is history. Another great ballad of theirs are "King of the fools" "You're not alone" (Suzettes song) But if you want to rock and not be too cliche... "Stay Hungry" "Burn in Hell" "Come out and Play" "You can't stop rock and roll" "Wake up the sleeping Giant" "Out on the Streets" - (this one got me through a lot in my younger years as a runaway from child abuse). And of course their anthem to their fans:. "SMF"! Twisted can be fun, but ultimately they always had a positive message and although I can likely speak for others, they definitely saved my life. Long live TS! ❤️
We were one push of a button from glowing in the dark, for most of the 80s... Even a lot of the pop music had deeper meanings, with all the candy sweet exterior.
I’m sorry but I feel for those who missed the ‘80’s and ‘90’s cause they were really the best time period musically and just a lot of fun to come up in
I couldn't agree more! The 80s were the best as far as music is concerned. I loved growing up with these bands. You're right, people who were not around in the 80s definitely missed out.
And next on my “catch up tour” THIS!!!! Great review 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE this song!!! And the 80’s were 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 IMO we had the best music from many different genres!!! Yes, the imagery can be hilarious 🤣 and anyone who doesn’t think so is either lying or just trying to find something to argue about!!!! I promise you we had some REALLY good times though!!!! And probably a lot of bands recorded concerts because they were LIT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I have been to so many concerts that I can’t even remember everyone I’ve seen live unless I really stop to think about it 🤷♀️ of course, we did a lot of pre-partying before most of them so that does make things a little fuzzy 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣 Thank you for your REAL reviews!!! And 🖕 anyone who can’t laugh and/or laugh at themselves when the sh1t is funny!!!! Love ya fam 💞
In the 80's it was the thig to do that if your jeans had worn out spots you would patch it up with material. In this case his crotch had worn out and he had darker jean material sewn in. Very popular at the time.
when you stopped at the beginning and said this is the 80s right? I thought you were going to ask where his wild clothes and makeup was at. Dee Synder went before congress to fight against the censorship that they were trying to impose on the music they basically didn't approve of. Every glam/metal band had at least 1 ballad to appeal to other audiences. We didn't find it depressing, it actually opened our minds to other music and artists that were out there. 80s babies are very proud of the music and artists that we had. That music paved the way for newer generations. While music, artists, fashion, and yes the hair was wild and at times bizarre we wouldn't trade that period of our lives for anything. Now to a lot of videos were made off concerts could have been a video budget thing, and yes it did look like his pants were wet lol.
You Can't Stop Rock & Roll (One of my fav TS songs) The Kids Are Back (deeper cut) I Wanna Rock (Their other radio hit) Captain Howdy / Street Justice (Do these together)

😂🤣 I have NO idea what they were thinking in the 80's and I was part of it (late 80's teenager).... then Grunge took my generation by storm and it was good riddance hair-band hair, spandex (wrestler outfits as you called them!) and "HELLO" flannel shirts and comfy old torn blue jeans!! 🤗 That's one more thing to be thankful to Grunge for!!😉😁 Now, since you brought it up... your reaction to "We're Not Gonna Take It" was HYSTERICAL and SPOT ON!! 🤣😂 Some people forget that this is a reaction channel.🤦♀️ We're here to see your actual reaction (We already know the songs!🤷♀️) For whatever it's worth to anyone, I appreciate your honest reactions.... and I applaud your willingness to be yourself!!👏👏👏 Your reactions are some of the best out there Biz (IMO)!!❤ Thanks for the content!! See you in the next one fam.... 😎
the football padded shoulders draped in women's tatters with the cartoon imagery makeup and huge flinging hair made dee larger than life. look at the way he swallows the audience with his presence. it seems like no stage is big enough for the guy. to truly appreciate this band, you must watch their full length documentary. you would be hard pressed to find any band that worked harder to make it. those guys fought for everything that they achieved. dee is a hard working and a pretty righteous dude
*Back then, there was only a few categories of rock. You had Classic Rock, Rock, Heavy Metal, and Thrash/Speed Metal was just getting noticed. Twisted Sister was not called a hair band or glam rock back then.. they were just Rock. They were not heavy metal and it drives me crazy when they're put in that category. The whole glam thing never had anything to do with any style of music. It was just a certain look to get attention. Most bands got rid of the look when the talent was noticed and the gimmick wasn't needed anymore.*
Through about 1986, there was no standard look for rock or metal bands. Then Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Guns and Roses got really big in the late 80's and people started making a big deal out of fashion and how each genre was supposed to have a "look".
Look for the song they barrold From the past ! That almost took them Down . it's really funny . It will crack you up brother. They went from very heavy rock To this song an there's a video Of the evidence of the crime against their lowest fan's they lost alot. An it ant this song ether.

Wake Up The Sleeping Giant is such an incredible underrated song.
I graduated in 1985. We were partying our asses off, running wild and free and ROCKING THE FUCK OUT 🤘
in the 80's concert footage was the big thing for M.TV. it drew the best audiences.
The 80s was the best era of music. This world will ever have experienced.
We were one push of a button from glowing in the dark, for most of the 80s... Even a lot of the pop music had deeper meanings, with all the candy sweet exterior.

Must be
I heard that the idea was to motivate viewers to go watch the band live, since after all that is how most bands make most of their money.
Next should be “You Can’t Kill Rock N Roll”.
That title is actually "You Can't Stop Rock'n'Roll"

The 80s were NOT depressing. NOW is depressing. Crappy mo ies, music, TV, politics. God, how I hate the 21st century.
