I've had a beautiful picture of this most awesome river hanging on my wall for several years...(steep forested mountains, and rapids as far as you can see)...great to finally watch someone actually running it!... And very nice rescue, of both paddler and boat...(especially since walking out doesn't look like much of an option, on this river!)...
Weren't you paying attention?! The moral is always bring a rope so you don't have to scout! Ever! Seriously though, I've been in that gorge and it has some nasty spots that change a lot. Props on the rescue, boys.
The eye opening part of this video is the realization that we are all completely unprepared for what could have happened. If he had been pinned underwater or even trapped against the log the video would be much more grim. A pulley for recovery might have helped gain mechanical advantage to release the boat.

Nice save! One can definitely tell you have a great team that really works well together when things get hairy.
Great job and team effort! Proper rescue sequence (protect yourself - rescue victim - and retrieve equipment last only if it can be done safely).
Good save, guys. You were smart and brought safety gear, you got your friend out of it AND you rescued the kayak. Freaking win all the way around.
WOW! Thank you for sharing this and thank God it's a happy ending.

Serious credit to you guys - your mate owes you a lot of beer!!
Wow, that could of been so bad, scary moment. Just reminds you it's not just running stouts thats risky, thats the real danger right there.
