This is so incredibly sad, I’m so glad he got the help he needed for free.
I am glad about myself
@@sudiptasarkar4438 self loving queen 💀💀
Me too 😉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Ok, I am officially going to stop complaining about my fine lines and wrinkles. Talk about putting petty things into perspective!! God bless these doctors!
Yes,,,, agree🎉
I went to school with someone with Neurofibromatosis, half of her face was taken over by it and she had a hanging tumor to, she was a lovely girl, went through school from 5 or 6 years old, up to college at 17-18, I think college was the only time she was ever bullied about it, but the few of us that were at school with her and the couple of new friends she made, we stood up to her bullies, who were girls on the same course as we were, but the tutors never did anything about the bullies, which was disappointing for an establishment that claimed to be zero tolerance on bullying!!
They’ll defend the “normal” students but not those that don’t match their standards of being worthy of defense.
Do you know if she could get at least some treatment for the tumours? I don't know if they can continue to grow nonstop or if neurofibromatosis stalls after a certain age.
Certain ppl in colleges are VERY bitter about students with health problems or disabilities because they are forced by law to accomodate us. They see us as the enemy. I had a head of department tell me he would SEE TO IT that i never graduated because i was a drain on university resources and would never be a rich contributing alumni due to my disabilities. He admitted i was talented with great grades, but it was all about the $$$
Disgusting how the bullies weren’t pulled into line. I’m glad you and your friends stood up for this lovely girl. So sad, I hope she received medical treatment for her disease, some people have it tough in life. 🙏
@@AliciaGuitar I cannot speak to that institution, but if someone said something like that to a student at any of the colleges and universities I have attended, they would be censured or even fired.
Please do a follow up on this man.
Yes. Please
So often, there is no money to treat the condition before it grows to this scale. Many doctors dismiss patients when it's smaller. Unfortunately, the patient and family lose hope. The patient ends up becoming a social media sensation and doctors step up to help. Doctors are always willing to give of themselves and time at no charge. Hospital administrators and insurance companies do not think the same way.
Poor man. I hope that he will get more help and more surgeries in the future so he could at least lead a relatively comfortable life.
I live right here in the USA and there was a man in my neighborhood who had either neurofibromatosis or something like that, because he had a mass attached just below his eye than hung down past his collarbone. I'll bet you anything that what caused him to delay getting treatment for it was the cost of healthcare in this godforsaken country.
I didn't see him for several years, but then he moved into my building... and the growth was gone, but _so was his eye._ He died shortly thereafter.
We need universal healthcare, like every other industrialized nation has.
😢🎯
Agreed.
Yes, we definitely need universal health care in this country. Sadly, I don't think it'll happen - but I have certainly been wrong before. I heard Dr. Youn say that we have doctors and treatments available, but they're by no means available to everyone. Not as long as insurance companies are deciding whether or not a person needs treatment, surgery, medication, or a specialist... it's a sad situation.
What a soft spoken sweet young man. I hope he lives the best life.
This man is a similar case to Joseph (John) Merrick, "The Elephant Man." It is thought Joseph had Neurofibromitosis and Proteus syndrome
I hope this man is safe in whatever surgery he will undergo and that more people and doctors will help him diligently.
Very heartwarming to see him smile, hopefully he had sucessful follow up surgery/surgeries and got the face situation alleviated as well :)
Good morning! That's incredible, removing those tumors must have felt like an unbelievable relief.
beings me joy to see this young lad feel truly free again, those tumours must've been mentally draining too...
The lower income Americans couldn't have this fixed. So being lucky enough to live there means nothing to most.
I was thinking that too, healthcare in America is a luxury no one should assume this isn’t happening here too
Bull%%%%t. You can go to the emergency room at a hospital and get treatment. We have one locally. Providence Holy Cross. No one is turned away. If you have no money or insurance there is no charge. Stop with the socialist dogma.
I thought the government pays the treatments costs for those low-income people?
@@hanhkelley369 in theory there is financial help but it’s made inaccessible by many states - just look at how many states refuse to expand Medicare/medicaid and numerous other programs designed to help low income people. The normal thing for most of the people who are eligible is to be denied the first time, have to go through one or more appeals for eligibility (that process stops many people) then you need to find a provider who accepts Medicare/medicaid who is currently accepting new patients (another huge barrier to care).
Then if you need anything beyond typical care the process of finding a provider starts again, and the whole time there is still co-pays which can be to much for some people to afford.
I’ve seen that play out time and time again and it’s very depressing
I also have nf(nerofibromastosis) it honestly super hard to find someone that Specializes in it or that knows much about it
I have a cluster of tumors on my side and it growing twards my back and starting to wrap around my spine
I pray that you get the help that you need.
I feel for you. Do you get the treatments you need? Does the insurance cover it?
Its scary how your body can betray you like this...
Oof, well put! 😬😢
Thank you, Dr Youn, for talking about these situations and handling them with such sensitivity and grace.
I have Nurofibromatosis. I have type 1. Mine hurt. They grow on my nerves. Keep growing back. It has ruined my life.
I feel for you. Do you get the treatments you need? Does the insurance cover it? I watched the show in which those patients with big cysts get treated by a female doctor.
They said the insurance does not cover it because they consider it a cosmetics procedure.
@hanhkelley369 thank you.
my doctors are good. It has some to do with how they code it. It doesn't really help anymore. My tumors keep growing back. I'm sorry your insurance isn't helping. Have your primary and surgeon send letters saying why it's needed. My surgeon is a plastic surgeon too.
@@raymondschwartz119 Thank you for replying. I wish you all the best in life. Hope your family and friends are encouraging you and giving you a lot of love.
@@hanhkelley369 thank you. I hope you and your family are healthy and well.
So glad to see this case on your video, Dr. Youn.
Doc, ur an amazing human being. u have a kind heart. it's rare to have a doctor put patients before profit. bravo!
My cousin passed from NFM it’s also known as the elephant man disease… my aunt is a carrier… it’s heartbreaking condition..😢
Thank you showing respect and kindens. I watch you all the way from brasil
He has a lovely smile, I hope they can help him further. 🙏
The show is from 4 years ago, does anyone know if there's been any update?
Just saw a similar video about a boy in the USA having the same condition...but the big difference is that compassion, empathy and sympathy are completely and utterly lacking in the USA! This man is being treated without the thought of $$...the little boy that has the same symptoms (you can't even see he has a face, poor baby)...well, he's a US citizen, which means his mother is begging for money to get treatment for him. The USA is supposedly the richest country in the world and we close our eyes to people like this and allow them to just suffer...I hang my head in absolute shame, being an American and knowing that my country would just let this man suffer if he lived in America and didn't have the $$ to do anything...the immorality of our healthcare system is abhorrent.
Why not create a gofundme account and add sad backstory?
The only reason they are treating this man for free is for publicity. Notice they didn't care until he had a documentary about him go viral.
Is it that black little boy? I seen on truly
Richest country? Richest in debt you mean. US literally has more debt than it can ever pay back.
@@Nathan_Bookwurmyeah, I'm just quoting what we've been told for decades...
God bless him and all his providers.
poor man how awful for him
Oh the poor man. I’m so glad he got help
What an incredibly difficult condition. That gentleman should be given an award for bravery and heroism.
Poor man…💔😔 I hope you can follow up with this case Dr Youn…
best video ever, Dr.
I love how informative your videos are. Side note, I recently learned about keratopigmentation that supposedly changes the color of a person's eyes permanently. Would love to hear your insights into this type of procedure!
This man is so incredibly strong. Not only to live life with the way some people must veiw or treat him, but also the physical strength he must have to carry that literal weight.
I hope this man can get all these tumors off and have a normal life!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Please react to the second surgery when it’s available!
Oh I looooove your videos!!!! ❤❤ hugs from Brazil!
And some foolish people cry about not getting the latest purse or closest parking spot. 🙄🙄🙄
💯
I would appreciate if you could react to the next videos if they are available. Thank you for teaching all of us.
😢😢😢 so much we never know unless we live those lives.
Some of these tumors people get are insane! I've seen this man's documentary. It's sad how young he is and how this has affected his life. It's amazing that he's finally getting some help, a wonderful future for him i hope 😊 its been a while since I saw the video about him. I think the only one i saw that was crazier, because the size, was a man from a rural village with a testicular tumor so large he sat on it like a bean bag. Has to be painful, at least the weight of the tumor with the pulling.
Dr. Youn, I have a question about eyelid correction. If someone is taking blood-thinning medications, how many days should they stop taking them before undergoing eyelid surgery?
Yep! Subscribed very informative with a voice of silk and your facial expressions are priceless.
I also feel really bad, that there are people that have to endure this type of thing on a daily basis.
Are you going to do update on second surgery?
please do a followup video on this man!!
Dr. Youn, I like your explanation of what's going on in the procedure, it's very interesting. I think if I was in that situation, I would of had that tumor removed also. Although he still has the growth on his face, it must be a relief to get rid of that growth on his chest and to have a more normal life. I am so glad the operation was a success and now he can maybe look forward to the second operation.
SAD, that looks so painful. 😢🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I hope his second surgery was a success
Amazing, I've never seen anything like that 😮
I also have Neurofibromatosis. I have tumors all over my body, had a brain tumor and another tumor pressing on a nerve root on L5 level. Because of NF I have chronic pain. Anyone else with NF1 here?
My cousin has neurofibromatosis and my aunt did but my aunt who had it wasn’t my cousins mum
Luckily it missed me
Is there a full video of this?
I have NF1 and I had a plexiform neurofibroma of 3 kg on my back.
I have NF, thanks for sharing
This poor man having to deal with all those tumors. I so hope the surgery is safe and he'll have a normal life. 😔😟
I would like to see how he looks after the next surgery.
You can have NF through spontaneous gene mutation as well. That is how it got me
Como pode deichar crescer tanto assim, meu Deus, não podemos descuidar da saúde 😢 Brasil
When the guy said WTF, I literally felt that
God bless him
I have the same condition thankfully I only have a small tumor on my right thigh. My heart breaks for this man.
Couldn't he tie like rubber bands around the lumps like we do to sheep nuts or bum lumps? Or like if new ones develop do this before they get big again?
Just when you thought you had a problem.
Its so very very sad ,so sad for him and for so many with no nedical care. I hadnt had insurance for most of my adult life and I statred to have alot of healht problems years ago and I just got insurance and Im trying to get many of my health ussues taken care of but I have nothing like this but I know what its like to not have money r insurance to get treated. Its horrible that so many people around the world have terrible illnesss with no medical care and no money if they dod.
The fear of dying and the cost!! would be an issue IMO of why it wasnt addressed.
And sometimes I am not satisfied with my life, and I realize that I have a lot to thank God and pray for those who really need it like this poor man 😢🙏🏻
Dr. Anthony Youn ❤
Why only in that part of Asia I see these kind of huge tumors? I don't know or it's really the case?
What part of Asia do you think this is? Asia's pretty big
i'm pretty sure it's in indonesia, i recognize the language as i'm also indonesian.
but holyshit how tf i never know about this??
It's supposed to be treated much sooner, if the local government officials know about him. In Indonesia we have universal healthcare, with different monthly fee. From 0 rupiah to about 150.000 rupiah ( $10). We even can have cancer treatment for free (under flat monthly fee).
Draga mea/ dragul meu la fel este și în România. Tu ai impresia ca Guvernelor le pasă cine suferă sau dacă se moare?!...În niciun caz
Cant really treat it its very dangerous to remove them, theres no point unless its causing harm
before i go further im going to guess the first guys got a case or rare case of neurofibromatosis.
I have nf too
We take our health for granted 😢
Want to see the end result
Seeing stories like that i cannot be more thankful to live in a country with developed universal healthcare system…
So sorry for this man :(
Why did his family and him wait so long 😲😯😮😦
That is all about free healthcare… in quebec that situation would never happen
“The question I’m sure you’re wondering is why didn’t he get this treated a long time ago?”
Whenever you see someone suffering from a horrible yet treatable medical condition that they haven’t gotten help for for years and it's gotten so bad they're past the point where they could still be in denial about it, you shouldn't ask why they “let it” get that bad. The reason is always one of the following:
1. They’re poor and they live in a country where they can’t get free healthcare or the treatment is so rare and specialized it's not accessible to most people who need it even if they can afford it.
2. The treatment is risky and they’re so scared they would rather just live with the debilitating condition. This usually only happens in poverty-stricken developing countries or people who grew up in poor rural areas of high income countries. They didn't get routine medical care from doctors on a regular basis while growing up so they don't trust the process because it’s foreign to them.
3. Cultural or religious beliefs have pressured them into not getting treatment and instead trying to treat their condition with pseudoscience.
Very rarely, it’s none of the above and it’s just the stubbornness of a straight man who doesn’t want to acknowledge that anything is seriously wrong and thinks it’s somehow weak and “unmasculine” to need help. But that is clearly not the case here and people need to have more empathy when they see someone suffering before immediately assuming it's their own fault.
I once lost over 60 pounds from dieting, after 5 months I tried chin ups for the first time in over 10 years and I tell you, I felt like I was going to throw myself over the bar and into the ceiling. I bet this man will feel the same.
❤ 0:06
I know someone who has this, but they have brown patches on their body.
God help him 🙏
He’s got Neurofibromatosis I know as I have it
So sad !!!
30kg!? The strain on his neck must've been awful. I mean it's the size of his torso!
What's with all the annoying noises plips and plops?????
It's annoying, indeed
The tumors can always return
He desperately needs help, poor guy
This is so sad
Shades of The Elephant Man 😬
No worries me sponsored.a.second surgery. That was it.
I asked a surgeon when I had a major surgery, how many people he had killed.
You are actually NOT that lucky in USA - you have to pay for health insurance - in Australia we get a Medicare card. I just went to ER re gum infection - totally free - got through fast - got my antibiotics and payed ZERO!
Everytime I witnessed these things I only thank God for my normal appearance. I'm not pretty nor ugly. But I am grateful just to fit in.
Lucky to be in the US, are you kidding me, the entire rest of the western world would be a better location. This could be the reality for millions of Americans.
I seriously don't understand, why some people don't emigrate. I know it's hard, because of emigration laws, but certain people could make it happen.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ну вот что это??? Ужас какой-то. Где он живёт, что ест, пьёт? Дикость какая-то.
Notice MOST of these cases are in super poor countries with terrible living conditions! Just saying.
Nf1 is so terrible.
If I'd be from the UK USA, I'd be dead since years. No public health system to save me from allergic shocks or from when I was depressed to comer my antidepressants or many other lacks in the health system you have.
Sorry, but he would have got at even at a worse stage in the USA and the only chance to get treated it's to contact the famous tv channel to be used as a frick show attraction to get it paid so sad.
Don't have babies!!
