I've been dealing with wildfire smoke basically annually for quite a while here in Colorado, along with some evacuation scares, so glad to see y'all are okay and that you're helping keep your neighbors *actually* informed. I'm sure a lot of people there know, but if anybody reading this doesn't know: if the smoke is bad at all, a face mask can really help you feel better when you have to go outside. Ideally it's like an N95 mask, but anything you can cover your face with helps me feel better when I can't get the quality stuff.
Glad you're safe my dude! I live in the SFV and the fire started coming down towards Encino/Tarzana/Sherman Oaks area. I live more inland (North Hills) but I had a bag packed and was ready to go at a moment's notice. There was even a fire in Studio City near where I worked, but the firefighters got to it in time. Thankful and grateful to those guys! For anyone in LA, please be sure to wear your masks as well!
Living in Massachusetts, the winds were insane on our end. We had days that were close to 0º. It was so frigid, i had to wait til sunlight to get my car running because it was frozen solid. The coldest day yet. Last winter felt so warm, we had 40º days in january and by march we had roughly 60º days.
I don't think people outside of LA grasp how little any amount of prevention would have helped in this particular case. Wildfires have been a constant issue in California for as long as anyone can remember, but what people don't understand is how much of a once-in-a-generation "freak" event this is. This was a legit fire hurricane. Water ran out in certain neighborhoods because resources have never been stretched so thin like this. Millions of dollars worth of firefighting aircraft couldn't do anything in some of the most crucial hours of the fires, simply because the wind was too dangerous for them to fly in. Multiple fires cropped up at once due to the intensity and severity of the conditions, stretching resources even more. And for some of you telling Max to move, that's his own decision to make. People have made their whole lives in LA, and damn it, we love this town, warts and all. The amount of generosity and togetherness coming from all corners of the city makes me appreciate it more, and Angelenos want to fight for it, not run away from it. Armchair politics does not help in a time of such devastation, and a different mayor/governor (with all the problems I have with the current ones) would have made little to no difference in this particular instance. Glad y'all are safe Max.
Everyone wants to act like an expert, everyone wants to feel like they're the only smart person in the room. Social media and the whole "just use ocean water 4head" shit is so depressing.
Yeah, they probably think they can just stop a grease fire in their kitchen with kitchen sink water like science doesn't exist. "You are the salt of the earth." Is ultimately an insult saying you ruin things because as said in the video, salted earth dies.
the fires are doing more damage than "salty" ocean water. at this time, you might as well use the frikkin ocean water to put out the damn fires anyway. Not that had to do for cripe sake
@@urrutiap Except that's not how it works. The fires are destroying homes but those can be rebuilt, and as a natural phenomenon, big fires renew the Earth and let new things grow there again once it's all been burned. But if yu drop all that salt water on top and nothing grows back; that area on Earth is now uninhabitable. Yu saved a few homes by dropping in salt water to put the fire out? Great. Those homes are no longer inhabitable. They'll need to either be abandoned and/or demolished, because salt flats can't sustain life. If homes are going to be lost regardless, then better they're lost in a way that allows rebuilding. As Max said, salt water should only ever be used as an absolute *last resort* if no other water is available *and* air drops of containment powder aren't available. Because as soon as salt water is used, the area around it is now a wasteland forever more.
Glad you're ok, dood. I have a friend out there that was watching for an evacuation notice over the weekend and it's scary. Horrible that so many uneducated types are spraying their nonsense all over a bad situation like this.

@@sethxtekken and also, you would have to scoop it up with planes or helicopters, and due to the strong winds and waves you cant do that without a very high risk of the plane crashing.

I live of the northeast side of the city nearest to the Eaton Fire. The amount of air traffic and ground vehicles out there feels like something out of Evangelion.
Yeah, except Adam isn't alive and the Third Impact didn't happen.
Hoping and praying you and your family and everyone in CA is safe. ❤🙏
Glad you’re okay Max ❤ It’s insane what’s going on atm in LA with the fire
I live in the Bay Area it’s scary to watch we almost had to evacuate in 2020 thankfully we didn’t. Glad you’re safe Max.
Other side of the country here. I really hope that the fires don't spread much further than they already have. For everyone's sake.
Im so happy your safe, you are very lucky and very humble
Very glad you're safe! Thank you for this recount
I am in the middle of you and Max. Got the end of that fire trifecta but, we're all ok.
@sutefani13 good stuff man, glad you're safe!
You live in Street Fighter 5? 🤨
Parents went 2.5 days without power. Glad they are safe and glad you are too.
So it's either Fires to the west, tornados in the middle, hurricanes to the east.
All three things has become worse recently. Maybe there's a reason for that.
Wow it's almost like global warming or something and republicans did literally nothing to stop it.
@@OskarXCI😂 the boogie man word huh
Climate change isn't a bogeyman word, it's a real thing.
My mother and sister in law lost their home in Maui. Fires are no joke. My heart goes out to those impacted.
As another viewer also affected by this I’m glad to know you’re okay
Glad y'all are safe Max.
glad youre safe Max. being from MT, i definitely seen my share of fires. but nothing this big and hectic. stay safe out there.
@@urrutiap and how exactly do you plan on transporting that in bulk 20 miles in insane gridlock traffic?
@@NathanxLaMontagne transporting ocean water aint that hard to do, you twit.
I live in the Central Valley and a long time fan/follower of yours. Keeping you and your family in our prayers Max
We live in the CV as well and it's crazy how dry this January has been.
Praying for you guys and all of LA. Lord protect them all, may all be safe that can be. Truly scary times.
I don’t understand why the city and counties aren’t prepared for this. They literally ran out of water like WTF 😬
Praying for you and everyone in California
thank god you're all safe.
Happy you and the family are safe! Hope these fires are sorted soon
Glad you're ok, dood. I have a friend out there that was watching for an evacuation notice over the weekend and it's scary. Horrible that so many uneducated types are spraying their nonsense all over a bad situation like this.
The last time this happened I remembered insane stories of how at times those fires can move at the speed of like an entire football field per minute. Ive lived in central FL my entire life and have been through lots of the big storms, but nothing we get here compairs to that. Absolutely terrifying.
Wishing you the best brother, must be a terrifying time
Very glad to hear that you and your family are doing well and here's hoping that better days are ahead for all of Los Angeles.
I wonder if Oprah is gonna buy more real estate.
You wonder if they'll ever learn from this and do something about it like being more prepared next time.
Wildfires in Winter, and people still deny global warming.
i still deny it .
@@sethxtekken why?
Im glad ur doing great max. I feel so bad for some content creators that live in la specially bitwit who lost his home. Couldnt imagine just the loss of all that
"Why don't you just use the ocean?" is a question that should be coming out of a kindergartner, not a grown ass person. wtf?
Stay safe, my dood!
i ask you this question , why they dont use ocean water??
@@sethxtekken if they used ocean water to put out the fire, it would salt the Earth. Nothing would ever grow back there. You’re not very smart.
@@sethxtekken Also the salt from the ocean water can damage the firefighting equipment by exacerbating corrosion and rust.
@@sethxtekken and also, you would have to scoop it up with planes or helicopters, and due to the strong winds and waves you cant do that without a very high risk of the plane crashing.
Sending love from the Central Valley 💛
I live in LA. There’s going to be investigations on what went wrong. But there are no firefighters in the world that can fight 100mph winds. The richest neighborhood in the US burnt down. Couldn’t prevent that with all of the water in the Pacific. LA firefighters are S tier. Watching them save my neighborhood will never change my opinion.
@@BillyBoy-hr9rl You're a moron. Anyone hired needs to pass the CPAT which puts 50 pounds of extra weight onto your body the entire time and has simulated rescue tests with dead weight attached. They are stronger than you ever will be. Also you say you "don't give a shit what they look like" yet want them to look big and athletic to your standards. If you don't live here and see the work they put in everyday than stfu.
@@BillyBoy-hr9rlAgreed. People really should use Social Media. Its just that you need to discern and really try to stay calm. Look for different news, and stop being so quick to judge a problem. Like, there's a reason why people use Social Media and NOT the MSM (Mainstream Media). Use the combination, and disaffect yourself from their lies, but listen to half of the truth. We are NOW in the truth era. Fear mongering is not effective as it was 10 years ago. Now, as far as the causes? It's man made. Homeless literally lit fires in some places, and some were arrested.
Correct but the resources they didn’t have access to and fire 🔥 prevention measures that were not taken care of prior is 💯 Californian government lack of leadership
Glad to see you're doing okay though. My place still has no power and for most of next week too. But we are at least away from the fires for the most part. Such a crazy thing to happen so close.
Its sad to see bad policy create a windstorm of problems. No water....thats terrible for a state at such high risk of fire.
Stay safe Max. Family friends and yourself above all.
8:23 Brawndo has what plants need, it has electrolytes.
It’s what plants crave
About 14 years ago, my place burned down( i live in Pennsylvania), lost my 2 cats any everything except what i had on my back. It sucked. Best of luck to you and everyone going through this. Its hell.
We just had recorded snow and ice down here in Arkansas. They should get a few choppers, fill them up with the snow and ice here, and then fly them out there. It's probably not that easy, but it's a thought
Hello fellow Arkansan! Hot Springs here. Yeah was a good amount of snow. I measured in our front yard last night and it was 8.5 inches. Wondering if Lake Hamilton School will be open tomorrow. Just got back from town, and the roads were perfectly fine, just some water. But IDK if it's going to get cold enough tonight to freeze again.
Animals are also panicking.
I'm really glad you, Jessica and Ripley are safe. I didn't realize the fire was almost on your doorstep. Unfortunately the planet isn't in great shape right now... The disinformation element makes your situation even scarier...
I live in BC and have experienced this twice now. It is very stressful.
Thank God you and your family are safe! My church is sending in people and resources to help from Florida, and everyone down there is in all of our prayers. Thank you so much for the update!
I’m glad you’re safe, Max. I have friends in Los Angeles too. My friend is does film projects in LA. I’ve been thinking about you guys in LA. 🙏🏾
Max lives in LA?
@ Yep, he’s a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, California.😊🤓👊🏾
@@marcushamner5994 oh yeah? I wonder which part of LA.
@@Yami-Diablo Great question, bro! I’m not sure which part, but according to his bio, he lives in Los Angeles. His home didn’t get damaged thank God. He has LOTS of treasured items in his background that is nerd heaven.
The fact that there are people putting fake news out and not thinking about helping others pisses me off. Hoping the best for you Max.
Lived in Sonoma county in 2017 fires. Stay safe and get out if you have to. As someone with multiple family who lost everything, the stuff aint worth it. Also consider the kids' respiratory health... The smoke os worse than most people realize.
Another reason not to bail too soon are looters
That sounds dreadful, didn't know that happened. Glad, to hear, that you're safe. Wish you all the best, hopefully things will turn back to normal, soon. It's good, that your thoughts are with the people, who were directly hit by the fire.
Glad you guys are safe - I can't imagine what I would do if I was in your guys' situation, and I'm not far from LA. Hope you all continue staying safe out there.
Lesson learned: When county-wide disasters are happening, DON'T READ SOCIAL MEDIA. Trust the apps and sources that can actually be trusted.
The wind gets so fast because of the fire itself, hot air rises and it makes a current of air that makes the fire grow.
5:55 this is the portion where people need to learn.
Glad to hear that you and family are fine! Please take care! 🙏
